Located right off of the C&O Canal, there are plenty of sites available at Mulehalla for those who prefer rustic camping. These spots offer a quieter more rugged camping experience. PLEASE CHECK HipCamp site for Availability before booking with Dyrt. Enjoy one of our two large, beautiful and secluded sites with friends or family. We now have four sites. You should only see neighbors when going to bathhouse. Kayak, boat or tube(bring your own). Fish or watch wildlife. Nearby attractions if the river is not enough. Any site can host up to 30 people , depending on how many tents you bring. Cacapon River allows for fishing, kayaking/canoeing or tubing. You can put in upstream for a full day trip and camp overnight. Stoney Creek Country Store within a short walk for your fishing, necessities, milkshake, and subs/pizza. Almost Heaven Riverfront South site is a little closer to the bridge, but slightly bigger than the North site. It's also closer to the bathhouse and WiFi. It has best river access to kayak upstream. Almost Heaven Riverfront North site is a little more private. It is further downstream from the bridge and bathhouse. It has best river access to kayak downstream. You should be able to paddle back with relative ease. Each site gets a private (keyless/code entry) restroom/shower.

Welcome to Cumberland MD. We have 2 campgrounds in close proximity to each other. Campground # 1 is called THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND. CAMPGROUND # 2 is called THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND. They are only 3 miles from each other. Book either location and enjoy both. The campground’s offer camping for RVs and Tents. They are only 1 mile from Canal Place in downtown Cumberland MD. And 5 miles from the Rocky Gap Casino and Resort. They offer Hiking and Cycling on the C and O CANAL NATION PARK , THE GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. They both have Non-isolated, isolated and Super isolated campsites. Firewood, boating, fishing, Swimming, hiking and Cycling is available at both locations.

Campground #1 THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 10410B Cumberland MD. 21502. It is by Tractor World 1/10 mile off of I 68 Exit 45, 2 miles from the National Trails. There are 60 campsites here. Full hookups are available on Five (5) sites for $10.00 EXTRA PER NIGHT. If you want HOOKUPS PLEASE LET THE HOST KNOW. HOOKUPS MUST BE PAID FOR WHEN YOU ARRIVE!! We have a Dump station, A flush toilet and A Hot shower HERE. That is Available in season. There is a unique Pond with a Dock and Canopy. Sorry Fishing is NOT allowed. There are many hiking trails. Be sure to visit the the CLIFF OVERLOOK on one of the trails. There is a Convenient store that is open 24/7.

CAMPGROUND # 2. THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 1 Elizabeth St. Cumberland MD. 21502. It is on 40 acres off of The Canal Parkway. There are 80 campsites. This campground is along THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE POTOMAC RIVER and the C and O NATIONAL PARK and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. There Is over 1 mile of River frontage and 2 River Islands. Electric Hookups are available on 2 Campsites. Fresh water is available. After Camping if you need to dump go to campground # 1. Please let the host know if you want a Electric Hookup site. There are NO Showers here. Portable toilet are available in season. Generators are welcome. This location offers a 5 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom House for short term rental. Our cabin also has access to a small private lake (shared with just a few other cabins).  It's about a 100-yard walk down the hill from our place.  The walk is a bit rocky and steep, but you can also drive down there as well (less than 5 minutes).  There's a beach and a dock -- and another floating platform in the middle of the lake -- and it's stocked with fish (we've caught bluegills, bass, and catfish).  We've gone swimming many times in the lake, but depending on the season it can often be murky / full of algae.  So consider this more of a fishing lake. :)

We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly.  We have a pack 'n play for sleeping, a high chair, and plenty of toys and children's books. 

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are.  We're nestled in the Cacapon Mountains, directly next to Cacapon Resort State Park.  The park is free to enter, and has a ton of activities -- including another lake and beach, clay shooting, horseback riding, an 18-hole golf course, and miles of hiking trails.  

Lastly, you can get to the city of Berkeley Springs in about 15 minutes.  The town has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, and the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint.

Guest Access:
You'll have the cabin and surround property to yourselves.  You can also access the shared private lake.

The Neighborhood:
Tucker's Retreat is just south of the city of Berkeley Springs, and feels like a world away from everything.  The cabin is nestled in the Cacapon Mountains on a quiet gravel road, directly adjacent to Cacapon State Park.

We love our private lake and beach.  We often go fishing in the lake (and sometimes swimming when the water is clear).  It's small, but it's perfect on a hot summer day.  We have a few water shoes you can use, but please consider bringing your own flip flops or water shoes; the lake can sometimes get a little muddy near the beach. 

When it comes to hiking and other outdoor activities, Cacapon State Park is right next door and has a ton to offer.  There's no entrance fee, and there are dozens of hiking trails over 6,000 acres.  Better yet, they have a ton of other activities like an 18-hole golf course, horseback riding, clay shooting (with guns/clays you can rent), and another lake/beach.  We love it.

About a 10 min drive from our place is a small local brewery, Berkeley Springs Brewing Company.  They're constantly churning out new beer (literally every week); we're big fans of their IPA and sour beers.  They also have a smoker with fantastic BBQ!

Getting Around:
There's plenty of parking on site.  We're about a 15 min drive from Berkeley Springs.

The Space:
Our spacious cabin is packed with amenities -- including direct access to the creek! -- and fun for couples, families or groups of friends.

The cabin includes:
- Three large bedrooms (first bedroom with queen bed and twin pull out, second bedroom with a queen bed, another with bunk beds and a futon)
- Three full bathrooms (and two with bathtubs)
- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing 
- A large wrap-around deck overlooking the creek -- with a propane grill, screened-in porch, and hammock
- Main room with lofted wood ceilings and a large stone fireplace (although we have central AC and heat too!)
- Fast, reliable WiFi that's good enough to stream movies and hold video calls
- Three smart TVs to stream your favorite shows (main room and basement) + DVD player
- Two gas fireplaces -- one in the main room and another in the rec room
- Two firepits for you to enjoy a campfire by the woods or by the creek (We do not guarantee firewood, but there may be firewood on your arrival depending on what was left by previous guests.)
- Fully-stocked kitchen with dishwasher, stove/oven, and microwave
- Basement rec room with a foosball and pool tables

We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. (Sorry, no other pets due to allergies.)

Just steps from the cabin is your own little oasis down by Sleepy Creek. While it___s not deep enough for swimming, it___s perfect for splashing around (and where the kids can hunt for frogs and crayfish). Enjoy lunch at the picnic table, or roast marshmallows around the firepit -- both right at the water___s edge.

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are -- particularly the Great Cacapon River and Berkeley Springs. The Great Cacapon is fantastic for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing throughout the year. And the town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US; the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint! The local brewery (Berkeley Springs Brewing Company) and winery (Cold Run Valley Winery) are also right next door; we especially love the BBQ and beer at the brewery!

Black Bear Cabin retreat is a cozy cabin nestled in the West Virginia mountains, with everything you need for your getaway.

- Fully-stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, stove/oven, and microwave
- AC unit in the master bedroom
- Wood fireplace to keep you cozy at night
- Outside fire pit with seating for the whole gang

Our cabin also has private access to Sleepy Creek, just a quick 15 min walk from the cabin. It's a shallow creek most of the year, but great for cooling off in the summer and for the kids to hunt frogs and crawfish. :)

We often take our two little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. 

One thing to note:  about 100 yards to the right of the back deck are high-voltage power lines that you can see through the trees.  There's no safety issue or anything, but wanted to make sure you're aware.

Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close to everything we are -- particularly Great Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs.  The park is free to enter and has miles of hiking trails, a beach and small lake, golf course, horse stables, and a clay shooting range.  And the town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US; the shopping, spa, and restaurant scene does not disappoint!

Backcountry camping works the same way. You can park your van down by the river for free, as long as you’re self-sustaining. Amenities will be minimal at any of the nine campgrounds.
