Goose Creek RV Park & Campground

    Nice, Green, Quiet, Enjoyable Stay!

This is a really nice park, a gem in the middle of wheat and ancient lava flow fields. Great staff, well maintained and green, lush grass. Restrooms, showers and laundry are available, full hookups for all sized rigs (30/50). Small, quaint town, great burgers at Billy's Burgers, a really great spot for a stopover or as a base to Lake Roosevelt. Long and short-term stays are here, but nothing seems run-down or questionable. Sites are large. I'd stay again, for sure. The park store was really well-stocked with RV essentials, impressive for how small the space is. Another gem in town was steps away, a hardware store, where I purchased everything I needed for some cabinet repairs to my trailer; good prices, nice people.

    Blackwell Island RV Park

    Coeur d’Alene Lakefront RV park

Nicely located and well maintained large rv park on Lake Coeur d’Alene. This park offers both lake front and non-lakefront spaces with full hookups. This park offered free but poor WiFi unless in or near the club house. Kayaks speedboat in pontoon boats are available for rent from the front office. This park could use more foliage between sites otherwise a nice place to stay near downtown, stores and restaurants. We would stay here again.

    Hog Lake Campground

    Nice Dispersed Camping

Camp on area with no vegetation. Road is a lil rough but our outback handled it just fine. The lake is a short hike depending where you pitch your camp.

    Riley Creek Campground

    Pleasant Surprise

We were looking for a campsite in the Idaho Panhandle and discovered Riley Creek. After a 10 hour drive we arrived, drove to our spot and was greeted by an attendant who happened to be in the area. They volunteered to help us spot our rig, we were fine. No help needed.

This was an indication of how this trip would be. Very enjoyable! Power and water close. Level gravel pad, plenty of shade. Walking and biking trails galore. River was peaceful, large grass area, large playground for kids. Fairly full of couples and families surprisingly quiet.

Close to town for any supplies you might need.
    We plan on returning.

RV Park At Chewelah Golf & Country Club

RV Park At Chewelah Golf & Country Club

Wow! Really impressed with this RV Park. Very well-maintained, as you'd expect with it being attached to a golf course. 2 washers, 2 dryers, and 1 bathroom/shower room each for male and female. The restaurant and bar serve tasty food and beverages. Everything was very affordable. Stayed on a Tuesday night. This spot was on track for 5-stars until the road noise from logging trucks became an issue starting at 3AM.

    Trailer Inns RV Park

    Ok for one night

Not a terrible price and they have showers and laundry and clean bathrooms and a small store that sells ice and I'm not sure what else but this is more of a resident RV park than a traveler RV park and the pictures show what I mean.

    Hog Lake Campground

    It’s ok

Eh. It’s fine, it’s a place to sleep. Stayed here for 2 days and there wasn’t much to do besides walk over to the lake. The views are fine, good sunsets but nothing too special. Most of the sites are in open spots with little shade and little privacy, if you show up past 5 you’ll probably end up in one of those. That’s where I ended up my first night, then moved to a spot with two trees my second. Kind of littered with trash just about everywhere. Broken glass in some sites so be careful. Came on a Saturday night and it was crazy busy, Sunday was calmer. Good AT&T service in the upper sites, not so much in the lower ones.

Also there’s kind of a weird vibe? As a solo female camper I’ve been walking around and making sure to have my mace on hand lol

    Silverbeard's Marina

    Silver Beard Marina

At first glance we thought about not staying due to the location outside of everything. Place was very quiet, everything they say it is. Enjoyed 2 nights there without interruption. Owners were very nice. The bathroom is a little tight, could be upgraded a bit but otherwise we were very happy there.

    Riley Creek Campground

    Clean, semi-private, beautiful

We stayed here one night going to Oregon from Fernie, BC. The campground was full, but spots are large and private thanks to being nestled in a forest of Western Cedars and Pines. The sites were gravel, the bathrooms are clean with free showers that don’t close, and despite being surrounded by water, mosquitoes weren’t terrible.

Guide to Tumtum

Riverside State Park's campsites near Tumtum provide access to over 10,000 acres of wilderness within a 30-minute drive of Spokane. Campers in this region experience temperature variations of 30-40°F between day and night during summer months. Elevations range from 1,500 to 2,100 feet, creating varied terrain for outdoor recreation beyond typical lakeside activities.

What to do

Hiking through basalt formations: At Bowl and Pitcher Campground, trails wind through dramatic geological features along the Spokane River. "This is a larger campground great for RV, trailers and tents. The sites are enclosed in a circle, making a nice walk or bike ride," reports Mary C. The suspension bridge over the river serves as a popular starting point for day hikes.

Fishing in quiet coves: Lake Spokane Campground offers direct lake access with designated fishing areas. "The park by the lake was very well taken care of as most of the campers there spent the day swimming in the nice gated off swim section at the lake," notes Jake A. Morning fishing tends to be most productive, particularly for bass and trout.

Creek wading and exploration: Dragoon Creek Campground features a small waterway perfect for cooling off. "The creek makes for a decent fall wading pool, but not much more," says Henry H. Water levels remain shallow enough for safe wading throughout summer, making it suitable for younger children.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Nine Mile Recreation Area maintains well-kept restrooms and shower facilities. "The toilets were nice and clean and there's a nearby walking path through the woods that was covered in wildflowers!" writes Taesagh M. Several campgrounds have upgraded to flush toilets and hot showers in recent years.

Spacious campsites: Sites at Lake Spokane Campground provide ample room between neighbors. "The site was flat and spacious—easily fit both of our 12ft Gazelle tents with room to spare, and parking two vehicles was no issue," reports Skyla D. Most sites can accommodate multiple tents or larger camping setups.

Budget-friendly options: Dragoon Creek Campground offers no-cost camping with a Discover Pass. "Free 3 nights with a Discover Pass. Really clean pit toilets. Nice camp host. Beautiful nature, can't complain about a thing!" shares Rowan R. This makes it one of the most affordable camping options within 30 minutes of Tumtum.

What you should know

Seasonal closures affect availability: Many campgrounds operate on limited schedules. Nine Mile Recreation Area typically operates "May to September" according to park information. "Hopefully just for the winter," notes Hall M. about Dragoon Creek's closure during colder months.

Insect conditions vary by location: Some campsites report significant insect populations. "This campground has way, way too many bees. They are a nuisance can't relax without having to worry about a bee flying in your face," warns Aaron B. about Dragoon Creek Campground. Sites closer to water tend to have more mosquitoes during evening hours.

Cell service limitations: Despite proximity to Spokane, connectivity varies significantly. "TMobile service worked well, and the site had a good mix of sun and shade," notes Skyla D. about Lake Spokane, while another camper mentioned, "This is a perfect getaway for people looking to unplug as no cell service is available" at Riverside State Park.

Tips for camping with families

Water safety precautions: Designated swimming areas provide safer conditions for children. "There is a nice cement slab just in the water so it makes a safe place for kids," explains Arica C. about Riverside State Park. The swim area doesn't have a gradual incline at Lake Spokane, making it less suitable for toddlers.

Camp host interactions: Many campgrounds feature attentive hosts who enhance the experience. "The camp host is amazing. She always comes by with firewood (when we can have them) and she has popsicles for the kids too," shares Kris S. about Lake Spokane Campground.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: The Lil Red Barn and surrounding campgrounds offer chances to observe native species. Morning and evening hours typically provide the best wildlife viewing, particularly for deer, various bird species, and occasionally moose in wetland areas near Lake Spokane.

Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Northern Quest RV Resort offers full amenities for larger rigs. "Spacious lots with grass and asphalt pads. Easy to get around, quick access to a gas station and Wal-Mart is super close," notes Wes W. Most sites feature concrete pads with 50-amp service.

Limited dump stations: Several campgrounds lack sewer connections or dump facilities. "No sewer connection or place to dump. Spaces not well marked and uneven," warns Ron L. about Willow Bay RV Resort. Plan ahead by emptying tanks before arrival at campgrounds without dump stations.

Winter camping considerations: Few sites remain open year-round with hookups. Northern Quest RV Resort maintains winter operations with heated facilities. "Immaculate RV park within minutes of the Casino. You can even rent golf carts for the day to easily travel back and forth," explains Kurtis K., noting the additional amenities available during colder months.
