Many parks accommodate pets but enforce leash requirements and designated pet areas.

    Coyote Run RV Park

    Great place for a night

I was skeptical about this place because it is part of an RV storage area and very close to the highway. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is very well maintained, very neat, irrigated grass for each site. The campground is one loop with back in sites on the perimeter and pull-through sites on the "infield." I had a pull through site that was easy to navigate. Hookups are well maintained. Good Verizon cell service (3 bars). Many long term residents but with well-kept rigs. The town is sleepy at best! Be aware that on Sundays, every restaurant is closed! There is road noise audible inside the rig from accelerating/decelerating trucks but not awful. I did not look at the bathrooms and laundry but they looked very nice.

    Wine Country RV Park

    Quiet Overnight in Wine Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as an “along the way” stay — grounds that you seek out for a night or two as a place to simply stay the night along your journey to regroup and get some sleep. Ratings for this category are based on: Cost: 4 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, level ground, accessibility): 4 Noise: 5 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Layout: 4 Customer Service: 5

We only stayed at Wine Country RV Park as an overnight along our way, however, this could be a nice basecamp spot for people who love exploring wineries. The small town of Prosser has almost 30 wineries and tasting rooms in the immediate area and this park is in the midst of them all.

The staff is quite friendly and they offer tastings from local wineries in their community room frequently. It’s worth mentioning that mask-wearing seems to be finished here. To each their own, but I know it’s still very important to some.

The grounds are mostly well-kept though we did see some dog poop as we were walking around and some long term residents that took up more than their own space. The grounds are big-rig friendly and there is some grass between spaces. Premium sites have concrete pads while the lower cost sites are just gravel. The pads are mostly level, but slope upwards in some spots so unhitching can be just a little tricky. There is no privacy between sites, but the sites are wide enough for slide outs and chairs. Hookups were good, wifi was good enough for streaming (the park was only about 1/4 full while we were there). There is a pool and hot tub, both of which were closed for winter, and a small playground and basketball hoop for kids.

Price is reasonable, if a little high, for being in the middle of a bunch of wineries, and they take Good Sam and other membership discounts. The area is quaint with lots of farms (and some of the smells that go along with it). There is a cute bakery just over the bridge in the historic area of town called Jade’s. Give them a visit! Also, for runners/walkers/bikers... there is a very long path system that goes from Prosser and along the highway for miles into Sunnyside! It’s accessible about 1/2 mile from the park. Also walking distance is Vintner’s Village with a series of tasting rooms to visit.

A nice find for both passing through or staying a while longer if you’re into wines!

    Pasco Tri-Cities KOA

Good stop for a long drive - very friendly and helpful staff

We stayed here for one night on July 26, 2018.

The park is tight with very narrow spaces but well maintained. We were only stopping for one night on the way home and having a level, nice pull-through site, with hookups was nice. We never even unhooked the trailer but was spot on level. The park is pretty packed with many long-term residents visible through more permanent porches, 100 gallon propane hook up, and lots of potted plants.  Since we were traveling and the park was so clean, it didn't bother me at all but others have made note of that.

There is both dumpsters onsite but also site pickup of garbage by the park. That’s a nice unexpected service. The pool and laundry closes at 8pm but the showers are open 24 hours. The greeter was very nice and helpful, couldn't ask for any more.

Sage Hills Golf Club & RV Resort

    Perfect Weekend Getaway

With gas prices out of control this was a perfect weekend getaway right off highway 17. Immaculately kept RV sites and 20 yards from teeing off. Full hookups, propane refill and a pool. Clubhouse serves food and does have full service bar during golfing hours. (9-5). One hour from tri cities and 15 minutes from Moses Lake or the potholes.

    Mardon Resort

    Convenient but Crowded

This was our first visit to an RV “resort” and it wasn’t horrible. MarDon has lots of nice amenities but boy is it crowded. If you don’t mind crowds and like the convenience of resort camping MarDon is a good choice.

(Disclaimer: I prefer boondocking and getting as far away from people as possible, so read this review with that in mind.)

MarDon Resort sits on Potholes Reservoir about 16 miles southwest of Moses Lake. The reservoir is massive and offers excellent fishing and water sports. Central Washington gets dry and hot in the summer so come prepared.

The Resort has been around since the 1970s and offers a lot of amenities: full hookup sites, tent sites, monthly rates, marina, restaurant & bar, swimming beach, mini golf, boat & golf cart rentals and more.

    Circle H RV Ranch

    Disappointing

Moon travel guide said this was scenic rating of 8 out of 10. Yeah right!! This is mostly full time RVers. It’s right by a highway so there’s highway noise all night. The other side stares into an RV sales lot - ugly. Site 32’s hookups we’re broken - electricity wired wrong on both 30 & 50 amp(glad we caught it before plugging in!), water hookup wouldn’t flow. Will never stay here again, definitely not worth $57/night.

Lots of activities for kids, and a large fireworks display/live band. Really nice people." Another visitor mentioned, "Very clean campground. Nice amenities for families."

What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F from June through September, with little rainfall. Winter brings freezing temperatures at night, though some RV parks remain open year-round with heated facilities.

Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly during peak summer months. Weekends book fastest, especially at Horn Rapids RV Resort where one camper noted, "This RV park is the best maintained park I have ever seen. The lots are not real big, but the landscaping is pristine (think golf course)."

Noise factors: Highway proximity affects some campgrounds. "There is road noise audible inside the rig from accelerating/decelerating trucks but not awful," reports one Coyote Run RV Park visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Multiple resorts feature pools for children. "Very kid friendly," notes a Smokiam visitor. "Staff was super nice and check in process very easy. Great playground for kids, nice store in case you forget anything."

Recreation facilities: Look for campgrounds with dedicated children's areas. "This campground is very kid-friendly. It includes a fishing pond, miniature golf, par-three golf, and a swimming pool," reports a visitor to Oasis RV Park & Golf Course.

Pet policies: Most parks allow pets with restrictions. "Nice big area for dogs by the store and pool," mentions a Smokiam camper. Weight limits may apply at some facilities, with Wine Country RV Park enforcing a 40-pound maximum.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Large rigs need adequate space. At Sage Hills, "Never been to an RV Park where all the sights r 50' plus and pull-thrus. We will be backed a lot more."

Seasonal considerations: Some parks offer winter accommodations with heated facilities. "Sites have full hookups 30/50 amp and heated coils to prevent any water freeze," reports a Smokiam visitor.

Connectivity: Cell service varies by location. While most parks have adequate coverage, "internet and cell service was poor" at Smokiam according to one camper. WiFi quality differs between parks, with some offering premium services at additional cost.
