Best RV Parks & Resorts near Leavenworth, WA

Several RV parks surround the Leavenworth area, offering diverse options for motorhome travelers. Icicle River RV Resort provides full hookups with 50-amp service and big rig friendly sites from April through October. Just minutes away in Peshastin, Blu-Shastin RV Park features spacious pull-through sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. Thousand Trails Leavenworth operates year-round with full hookup sites and accommodates larger RVs with 50-amp service. "We stayed in a pull through site since we recently got our pop up camper and knew we may arrive in the dark. It was well worth the extra few dollars," notes one visitor to the Leavenworth-Pine Village KOA, highlighting the convenience of easy access sites for RV camping.

Summer months bring peak demand to RV campgrounds throughout the region, making advance reservations essential. Most parks offer sanitary dump stations, with Daroga State Park providing a clean facility that's "easy to get in and out of" according to a recent visitor. Cell service varies by location, with stronger signals typically available at RV parks closer to town. Pet-friendly policies are standard across most facilities, though some enforce breed restrictions. Winter RV camping options are limited, with Thousand Trails Leavenworth among the few parks operating year-round. Navigation to some RV sites requires careful planning, as mountain roads can present challenges for larger motorhomes. Propane service is available at select locations, and many parks offer on-site firewood sales for convenience.

    Indian Camp Campground

    Free range cows

Camp here for free for 7 days with a discover pass! 2 pit toilets, fire ring and picnic table at each site. Big areas for RVs, horse trailers and group sites. No water hook ups or dump stations. River access and lots of trails for nature walks. Very beautiful area! I had phone service and I use Sprint.

    Salmon La Sac

    Remotely Close

Salmon La Sac campground feels remote but is within two hours of Seattle. You will not hear the hum of freeway noise or cars swooshing by at high speed, as this camper’s haven is at the end of a paved road and sits smack in the middle of the Cle Elum and Cooper rivers. The growl of water flowing quickly downstream over huge granite boulders can be heard from most sites, with some sites nicely placed adjacent to river’s edge. The sites are decent in size, some with adequate tree coverage and others with plenty of sun. There are restrooms dotted throughout but some were lacking hand sanitizer which in the midst of a pandemic was baffling. There also didn’t seem to be enough trash bins for the number of sites, but there weren’t any overflowing with refuse. Just plan to walk a decent clip to dispose of your spent items. With that said, the bathrooms were clean and the camp host greeted new arrivals with a smile and useful information. The weather and time of year was not ideal for playing in the water without a wet suit but is a great spot for whitewater kayakers to put in. There are many off-road adventure opportunities in the area for ATV, UTV, and other 4x4 enthusiasts. Fly fishing from the shore is also popular and if you have a boat, Cle Elum Lake is not far from the campground but be warned later in the summer the water level gets extremely low. Lastly, there are so many hiking trailheads in the area, no one could be disappointed. Salmon La Sac campground has no electric or water hookups but does have potable water available from hand-cranked pumps (well water). Sadly, the spigot on the pump doesn’t fit a standard hose, so we weren’t able to get much water into our travel trailer this made for a less than ideal experience but we managed for our short stay. Many RV and trailer campers love this place. We sure do!

    Johnny Creek Campground

    Small paradise

First visit to Washington and I went camping in my hammock. Perfect cold weather. Unfortunate that the wood was too dry for any fire. Next time!

    Leavenworth-Pine Village KOA

    We'll be back

We stayed here one night while passing through and wish we could have stayed longer. Very clean facility with lots of amenities for a great price and not far from town. We were able to secure our spot last minute which was nice. We also booked a pull through site since we recently got our pop up camper and knew we may arrive in the dark. It was well worth the extra few dollars. We plan to be back next summer and take full advantage of the campground.

    Wenatchee Confluence State Park Campground

    Super nice campground

Even though 99% of the time we boondock, we’ve stayed at this campground twice now. Once in the summer months and now in November. This last stay was FCFS. There isn’t any water hookups any longer for winter but there are many sights that have electric and dump hookups that are still operational. The camp itself is very well maintained. They are all drive through spots with a a picnic table on a concrete pad connected to a small gravel area that has a fire ring. A lot of open grassy area and the sites are definitely spaced far enough apart you don’t feel you’re on top of each other. Even in November, there’s groundskeepers maintaining the sites, leaf blowing, etc. would not hesitate to stay here again!

    Eightmile Campground

Nice site, low pressure at water stations

Sites are comfortable with shade. Reasonably level on blacktop. Several hiking trails. Cell service is nonexistant. Shopping available in Leavenworth, roughly 5 miles. No power, hookups or dump station

Only real complaint is low water pressure at water stations.

    Lakeshore RV Park

Use a water filter, be ready for the sprinklers

Park like setting. Pull throughs are right on top of each other. Recommend back in. They water every night, you have to pull everything in, every night. Water came out brown each morning with out a filter.

    Douglas Creek

    Hidden Suprise

Arrived around 2pm to the Douglas Creek Trailhead. The 8 miles of road H to get to Douglas Creek Rec area is gravel, primitive -no signs. Hiked the canyon for ~3miles. Lots of groundhogs and birds. Campsites are roughly half mile from the parking lot for hiking. The gravel road here is much narrower, and has more aggressive rocks/stones. Between the parking lot and campsites several large puddles/ponds took over the road. Campsites have pull throughs for RV’s. I chose the third site I saw, steep downhill to the fire pit, but close walk to the creek. The grounds are minimal, no services (no toilets, picnic tables, hookups, trash bins etc). Had no cell service. Weather was in the upper 60’s, no clouds. Perfect getaway.

South Fork Snoqualmie River Dispersed Site

    Great Spot

I travel and work remotely so I’m always looking for free places that have cell reception and this place hits the jackpot. I’ve come in twice on a Saturday afternoon and have been able to find an open spot with my 18 ft travel trailer, I have Verizon and have 2-3 bars of service, it is very close to the interstate so you’ll hear a constant hum of cars but it’s very nice to feel like you have your own slice of the mossy old growth forest.

Guide to Leavenworth

RV camping near Leavenworth, Washington offers year-round options with varying terrain and accessibility challenges. Nestled in the eastern Cascades at elevations ranging from 1,100 to 2,000 feet, the area experiences hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Cell service can be spotty outside town limits, with stronger coverage at RV parks closer to the Bavarian-themed village.

What to do

River activities: The Yakima River provides scenic spots for fishing and water recreation. At Whispering Pines RV Campground, "There are paths that go to the Yakima river or along side it was nice," reports one camper who enjoyed the riverside location about 45 minutes from Leavenworth.

Winter recreation: For cold weather camping, several locations remain open when snow blankets the region. "We have stayed here for many years to enjoy the Chelan WinterFest Festival in January. The park is within walking distance of town and is perfect for the festival weekend," notes a visitor to Lakeshore RV Park.

Wildlife viewing: Some campgrounds offer nature watching opportunities right from your site. At Icicle River RV Resort, one camper mentioned, "Loved our time here, clean campsite, beautiful spots on the river. Loved seeing black bears across the river."

What campers like

Riverside sites: Many RV parks feature premium spots along waterways. At Entiat City Park, "All sites have a view of the Columbia River, and the beach is swimmable. There are trees, but none of the camp-sites are shaded. The sites are level and easy to back into," according to a recent visitor.

Clean facilities: Bathroom quality varies widely between parks. Whispering Pines RV Campground earns high marks for cleanliness with one camper noting, "The bathrooms were pristine, and the hookups worked great."

Off-season tranquility: Visiting during shoulder seasons provides a different experience. "October is perfect time. So quiet, leaves changing, crisp weather. Just make sure you have heated water hose," advises a camper at Thousand Trails Leavenworth.

What you should know

WiFi limitations: Internet connectivity challenges affect most area campgrounds. At Blu-Shastin RV Park, located in Peshastin just minutes from Leavenworth, a visitor warned, "There is no cell coverage due to the mountains. No Wi-Fi was available, although they say they have it."

Road noise: Highway proximity affects some camping experiences. For Entiat City Park, one camper mentioned its complete renovation with "new shower/bathrooms and more rv & tent spots," though noted highway sounds can be heard from some sites.

Site spacing: RV parks vary significantly in how close together campsites are placed. One visitor to Thousand Trails Leavenworth noted, "The full hookup sites are close together and not great IMHO. We settled for the spot in the Lakeview area," suggesting checking site maps before booking.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Several parks offer water access for children. "Perfect swimming spot. Showers, drinking fountains, flush toilets," reports a visitor about Entiat City Park, which features a beach along the Columbia River.

Playground amenities: Some campgrounds include recreational facilities for kids. Blu-Shastin RV Park has "a pool but its dirty. There is a slime film on the bottom and water is not clear. They have a small game room but most of the games are old and in disrepair," according to one less satisfied visitor.

Quiet hours: Enforced quiet periods vary between parks. At Whispering Pines, "Quiet time at 10...woke up early and packed up...felt safe, didn't get bothered," making it suitable for families needing consistent sleep schedules.

Tips from RVers

Winter hookups: Cold weather camping requires special preparation. As one RVer at Thousand Trails Leavenworth advised for October visits, "Just make sure you have heated water hose" to prevent freezing.

Site selection: Choose locations based on specific needs. At Icicle River RV Resort, "Spaces 76-80 didn't have that issue. We have a 25 foot trailer and that island in the road can be a bit of a problem. Spaces are a bit close together but we were hiking most of the days we were there."

Late arrivals: Some parks have strict check-in times. One RVer at Whispering Pines RV Campground shared, "The camp host turned our anxieties around, as he came whipping cheerfully through the gate in his golf cart to let us in at 9:55, exclaiming 'You just barely made it!'," noting the 9:30 check-in and 10 PM setup deadline.
