Best Glamping near Virginia Beach, VA

We went here on our honeymoon and had the best time! The tent sites are mostly succluded with woods around you. The campground is right down the shore from Virginia beach. And you have beach access right in the campground so you don't have to worry about fighting the crowds at the beach, because it's mostly people swimming there from the campground. The facilities are very clean. The park rangers close the bathrooms and showers once a day to clean them! Cleanest camp ground I've been to so far. The staff and Rangers are very friendly. They also have a general store on site incase you need ice or any other necessities. Across the street is a learning center and a bunch of hiking trails. We hiked some and the trails were great. Some of the trails leaded you over marsh and through woods great activity while you are camping there! I love this place and can't wait to go back!

We traveled all the way from NY to camp here. What’s better than camping in a vacation destination on the ocean ? It was nice being able to walk down to the beach whenever we wanted. We could drive to town and visit the attractions.

My family and I really enjoy camping at First Landing. Its close to Virginia Beach. Nice and quiet beach right there at the park and good hiking trails.

Great place. Very close to Virginia Beach city limits, but you would never know it. Grounds are all throughout dunes with decent distance from other campers. The beach is a 3 minute walk from most sites.

We arrived here on a wim. We had heard great things about this campground. It's being kind of secluded but still on Virginia Beach. We heard this part of Virginia Beach was beautiful and not over crowded. So we gave it a shot.

It's a beautiful camp ground with tent and RV sites. Some of the sites sit perfectly nestled in trees protected by the elements while others are directly along swampy bug infested areas. We arrived later and our choice on sites just wasn't looking to good. We found what we thought would be a great site and all and all it was but when the sun went down the bugs came out. Excellent facilities here. Very very clean bathrooms and sites. There hiking, biking, swimming and fishing here. Long story short get here early and get yourself a good spot preferably not by the swamp.

We were visiting the shanendoah mountains and decided to check out Virginia Beach for a day. Originally set up on beach but were kicked off and had to find a spot in a pinch. The campsite was large enough but other guests were not considerate of space.

By far my favorite place I've ever camped! Just steps off the beach from our campsite. The campground itself was pretty quiet considering how many other people were there. Plus there is a ton to do right by the campground in Virginia Beach, if you get bored.

Always love camping here. Try to get as close to the beach as possible, even tent camping. Bath houses are nice, they now have a shuttle that will take you to the strip in Virginia Beach, very inexpensively, great interpretive programs, and of course, the beach!

FLSP is a real Gem in the midst of a very busy Virginia Beach. The campsites range from tenting with no hookups to 20, 30, and 50 foot sites with water and electric. There are also about 20 cabins on the Trail side. The only sewer hookups are for the three Camp Host sites located throughout the Park. There are nice clean showers located around the campground. There are beaches with boardwalk access over preserved dunes. There are no lifeguards. Across the road from the campground are fabulous hiking trails, a bike trail, and another beach area on a tidal lake. The variety of activities within the Park, including Ranger led activities, along with easy access to the Virginia Beach boardwalk via the local bus system, biking, or personal vehicle, make this State Park the only place we stay in VaBeach. We love this Park so much we have volunteered as Camp Hosts for eleven years❤️

Went for Labor Day weekend. Great campsite with good shade. Beach was nice and bay water was good temperature. Plus while Virginia Beach had red flag conditions, we could still swim. Had my crocs stolen at the beach though. Bathrooms next to us were completely renovated and are very nice.

Was a nice place to stay about 1.5 hour drive to either Virginia Beach or assateage. Walked to the water with the kids to check out the millions of fiddler crabs and a few blue crabs and a hermit crab. I would suggest some bug spray if you plan on staying

It is super accessible, has a great beach, snack shop/store and facilities. We live IN Virginia Beach but still crash here every so often just to get outside for the night. Its a great spot for a family w/ kids. They can ride their bikes around safely.

GREAT spot to bring a boat/kayaks etc...

This campground is an awesome place to camp!  There is a great beach, excellent hiking trails, hook ups on good, flat sites, and a host of other great amenities!

The boat launch is awesome with separate spots for motor boats and kayaks.

We had cell service (not necessarily a good thing) and easy access to restaurants along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

Amazingly enough, there was still a variety of wildlife hanging out (birds, deer, rodents, etc.)

If you are looking for a beach day in virginia beach but don’t want to spend ridiculous money on a hotel then it’s perfect!

Now for the down sides…… there is an air port like 8-10 minutes away which means constant fighter jets passing over the camp from like 4-10. It’s a very busy camp ground so there’s not a lot of privacy BUT people are respectful of quiet hours. Then at about 8 am the base starts doing their morning wake up songs which will wake you up…

This is an excellent campground with large tent sites that you feel almost as if your the only one camping even when the campground is full. There are multiple points of entry to a beautiful well cared for beach. The park offers a trolley ride for 4.50 a day to the main beach front in Virginia Beach. Camp store is well stocked and is run by an outstanding staff. FT Story is very close so you will hear the Star Spangled Banner at 8am every morning and occasionally you will here helicopters doing night exercises.

This family friendly state park and campsite is nestled between the southern shore of the Chesapeake Bay and Shore Drive. Campsites accommodate a range of options from yurts, tents, and RVs. You’ll find locals coming here during the day to access the long sandy Bay side beach, which has gentle waves (perfect for little kids), paddle boarding, etc.

Campers park for free. Sites come in a wide range of shapes, shade, etc. If you are coming to tent camp, you want to choose sites as close to the Bay as possible. Shore Drive runs literally along the south side of this campsite. The road is very active all day and night as a military base is next door to the park.

There are no waterfront sites, but you won’t walk far from your site to the beach or bath houses. We had a two minute walk to the beach from site #14 and a 90-second walk to the bath house- just to give you perspective.

The campsite map on their site isn’t drawn to scale, so keep that in mind. There are tons of hiking/biking trails within the park, plenty of beach access, and a quick 15 minute drive to the Virginia Beach beaches. The Park Store wasn’t open during our stay but ice and firewood can be purchased in the store or office under normal circumstances.

Overall this is a fantastic park to camp in with lots of local options for stores, food, attractions, etc. This is not a quiet or isolated campground, so if you’re looking for that bring your earplugs :)

Very nice state park. Sites are not large, but well separated by dense foliage. Electric and water hookups. Free hot showers. Some road noise from Rt 60, but also the sound of waves from the ocean if you get a site on the ocean side.

Many RV sites are listed as 20 ft max, but we fit our 24 ft trailer into one with room left to park the tow vehicle, although not enough room to use the fire pit. Check site photos.

There is a trail center nearby in the state park with a number of trails. Many things to do in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

Awesome coastal campground. Total diamond in the rough here. Very few bad sites- almost every one I saw was under a canopy of live oaks and pines. Ours was great- very large and private due to mounds and trees. Great live oaks for kids to climb on! The beach is beautiful and very kid friendly- a short walk from any campsite. Huge network of trails and close proximity to Virginia Beach and anything you might need. Definitely could spend weeks here and be happy. Only detractor was naval jets that kinda sounded like thunder from nearby base. Not a big issue. I would definitely book as close to the dunes/bay as possible with your site so that you can't hear road noise from route 60. Ours was perfect. Very cool campground.

You’re sleeping on sand so comfort score is already 5 stars! Not to mention you’re right next to the First Landing State Park beach! The campground and beach is on the corner of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean right above Virginia Beach.

We stayed at site 174 which is one of the sites closest to the beach but on the other side of the road. It was only me and my daughter for this trip but there were man made spaces for up to 3 large person tents!

Our site did not have any good placement for a hammock but many other sites do have great trees for hammocks or slack lines!

Our spot also had water and electric hookup.

Overall great park, great campground, and great experience!

I have stayed at this campground countless times for years! They have bathrooms/shower houses that look like they belong in 5 star hotels! A huge game room, 4 or 5 swimming pools, with one pool having a stage for live bands while people are swimming at night. They have a trolley that takes you to the Virginia Beach oceanfront and back so that once you're set up for camping, you don't have to drive at all. And if you choose to drive, you get to park in a designated parking lot near the beach for no extra charge. They have 2 awesome camp stores, cabins and amazing tent sites! They continuously have events going on at the campground for all ages. The USO Patriotic Festival the first weekend of June every year is the ultimate time! Best camp ground in the southeast!
