Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City features full hookups with 50-amp service, big-rig friendly concrete pads, and year-round accessibility. Park City RV Resort offers 71 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups on concrete pads, though spacing can be tight. Winter travelers will find limited options as several parks close from late October through April, with Knotty Pine RV Resort specifically operating April 1 through October 31.

    Canyon View RV Park

Just a parking lot, but in a beautiful park/awesome walk/bike trail!

First come, first serve, dump station on site(back of parking lot), friendly camphost; great access to an awesome bike/walk trail, close to town& Walmart

SITE: Water and Electricity only and all amenities worked great. All sites are back in and spaced in a large parking lot. Picnic table per site in the shade under the trees by your site; level site; all concrete; the sites are close together, but it wasn't full so the RVers thoughtfully spaced out from each other; full sun

CELL SERVICE: AT&T worked great- not all bars but it worked well for use working remote and no issues with video calls using our hotspot.

OTHER: Located on the edge of Canyon View Park. The park had just closed as they prep for their annual Christmas light show, but you could still walk on the trail through the park to access the main bike/walk trail which was awesome and goes on for many miles! We loved using this everyday we were there. Bathroom in the park was really clean. Dump station is in the parking lot(super convenient) on the back side. It was super gusty, windy at night and consistent every night from about 11pm- 10am. Maybe it's just seasonal? Make sure your awning is in!

    Washington Lake Campground

A very popular, family friendly, beautiful campground.

We stayed for 7 nights (the limit) in August of 2023. It's all paved, asphalt road and concrete pad for picnic table. Very beautiful setting with the large lake and mountains surrounding. Fishing-yes! Hand powered boating, hiking trails and lots of other lakes to explore.

There no water available but you can fill your RV, Trailer or whatever at the entrance to the Lost Creek CG which is about 3 miles east on Hwy 150. No Dump station, nearest being in Kamas.

Seems to be a popular place for local (SLC) families to gather. Family friendly so lots of kids. Quiet time 10PM to 6AM.

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Lodgepole Campground

Lodgepole Campground - Group Site B

Nice basic campground just coming out of Heber City, UT on your way to Strawberry Reservoir. This is a fairly large campground with numerous sites. The group site parking was shallow. We could barely fit our 19 ft travel trailer and our truck. Outside of the group site it appears there are deeper sites that could accommodate a long fifth wheel. Parking space is wide enough to park another car next to trailer. There are a few tent sites as around the group site pavilion.

No hookups for RV’s. Dump station on site for $10 fee. RV spots are back in only. There is running water and flushable toilets on site; however, the water line was under repair and not turned on during our stay. It sounds like the repairs have been going on for a long time.

There is cellular service, but it’s a little slow. I have sprint carrier and had service.

Negatives: The campground is close a highway incline/decline which is frequented by Semi’s which bring lots of noise to the campground throughout the day and into the night.

Stinging Nettle: lots of stinging nettle located around group site B, so stay on the paths as much as possible.

    Hill AFB FamCamp

    Cute little spot

Great amenities, dog park, showers, laundry. Stayed here long term a couple times and it’s always a great stay! Close to the park, splash pad, and track. Hosts are pleasant. A little close together but good for being on base.

Guide to Mounthaven

Utah's RV campgrounds near Mounthaven offer options beyond just the standard electrical hookups. Most campgrounds in this area sit at elevations between 4,300-6,500 feet, creating cooler summer conditions than the state's southern regions. Winter lows frequently drop below freezing from November through March, with many smaller campgrounds closing completely during this period.

What to do

Fishing access: At Echo Island RV Resort in Coalville, campers can enjoy fishing in nearby streams. "My family and I have been coming here for years. It has a lot of trailer spots that are almost all pull throughs and have hook ups. It's fun to bring kayaks and float the river," reports one visitor.

Biking trails: Several Mounthaven area RV parks connect to regional bike paths. "You have direct access to the bike path that leads directly into Old Town Park City and links you with lots of other trails," notes a camper about Park City RV Resort.

Swimming pools: Many campgrounds maintain heated pools for family enjoyment. "We love coming here! We are close to hiking and off-reading without the craziness off Mirror Lake Highway. Also, the kids love the pool and the basketball courts," says a reviewer about Knotty Pine RV Resort in Kamas.

What campers like

Private bathrooms: Clean, individual facilities rank high among camper preferences. "The restrooms and showers were private and clean. The water pressure was high and temp was hot," mentions one visitor to Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City.

Dog-friendly areas: Many Mounthaven area RV parks feature designated pet zones. "They have three dog parks, one of which is the largest one we've seen thus far," writes one Mountain Valley RV Resort reviewer.

Reliable utilities: Consistent electricity and water service matter to RVers. "Utilities were conveniently located and accessible. Staff was friendly and helpful but not over bearing," notes a camper at Knotty Pine RV Resort, where full hookup sites are standard.

What you should know

Peak season pricing: RV campgrounds around Mounthaven generally charge premium rates during summer months. At Mountain Shadows RV Park in Draper, "I selected a partial hookup (water/electric) site instead for $45/night," reports one camper, noting that full hookups cost $75 nightly.

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects sound levels at several parks. "The interstate is 20 yards from the first row of sites. It was constant traffic noise 24/7," mentions a reviewer about Riverside RV Resort.

Site spacing: Many established RV parks have tight site configurations. "Spaces aren't as small as I feared they'd be after reading reviews. I guess it depends on your rig size. We have a small 21' travel trailer and the pull through spots are perfect!" explains one camper at Pony Express RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Check pool schedules: Swimming amenities often have seasonal limitations. "Booked this location for the pool... would have been up in the mountains more if I knew ahead of time no pool. Darn!" advises a camper at Park City RV Resort.

Playground access: Kid-friendly recreation areas vary widely between parks. "This is a great place for kids because there's plenty of space for them to ride bikes, play basketball, swim, and also a playground," notes a reviewer about Hailstone - Upper Fisher Campground at Jordanelle State Park.

Pet restrictions: Different rules apply for families with pets. At Lakeside RV Campground in Provo, "If you are tent camping they do not allow you to have pets," warns one visitor, though the same park welcomes pets in RV sites.

Tips from RVers

Water pressure management: High pressure systems can damage RV plumbing. "Be careful hooking up your RV to water. Very high pressure," cautions a visitor to Hailstone Campground.

Winter site selection: For cold-weather camping, utilities become crucial. "This facility is near the highway but the road noise wasn't a problem for us," reports a Mountain Valley RV Resort camper, noting the park remains open year-round with full hookups.

Arrival timing: Mid-week check-ins often mean better site selection. "From Wednesday to Friday at around 2pm, we were about the only ones there. Then the place exploded with campers and by 7pm the place was full," explains a visitor to Lagoon RV Park, highlighting the weekend rush common at popular rv campgrounds near Mounthaven, Utah.
