    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

TheDyrt reviewers checking in near Ogden note the canyon campgrounds fill fastest in the corridor between Ogden Valley and Huntsville, with most prime spots taken by Thursday afternoon on summer weekends. Private RV parks in the valley run full hookups with water, electric, and sewer at most sites, and some include laundry buildings and shower access. Dispersed sites around Ogden cover the no-fee forest options if hookups aren't a requirement on Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest land.

Most valley-floor RV parks stay open year-round. Elevation climbs quickly once you get into Ogden Canyon, and some canyon campgrounds close from November through April. Standard 30-amp hookups are available across most parks; 50-amp service is more limited and often requires specifically requesting a site with that setup. At higher elevations above 6,500 feet, propane consumption runs higher in cold weather, worth budgeting for during shoulder season stays. Salt Lake City RV parks cover additional options about 35 miles south if Ogden-area parks are full.

      Mountain Shadows RV Park

      Perfect overnight stay for us

We are a 40 foot with a tow. We only stayed here over night as we were passing through. Place was clean, friendly staff, spacious sites, ours had nice grass, dog friendly. Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall. This would be a great long term or a it’s a very easy on off expressway stop. High recommend

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

      Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

      Golden Spike RV Park

Great RV Spot Close to the Interstate

This an wonderful medium sized RV campground that is totally locally owned so you know your stay will go towards benefiting local families!  That and given its proximity to the Interstate make it the closest and easiest RV campground to get to near Brigham City/Perry.  It is a perfect stopping point if you're looking at having all the comforts of home before heading into the mountains or into the towns nearby.  Amenities include a full laundry and bathroom in addition to cable TV and Wi-Fi.  They owners are on the property year round and is a very safe place to stay.  There are 38 sites that have 30 and 50 amp hookup options in addition to water.  Definitely visit this RV campground over the nearby KOA as it supports local businesses!!!

If you want to spend time out in nature there is the nearby Bird Refuge, and Great Salt Lake.  To the north and northwest of here there lies the amazing Devils Playground and the namesake of the campground which is the Golden Spike National Historic Site in which the rail lines from the east and west met.  To the east there are numerous canyons to choose from in case the days are too sweltering hot to stay in the valleys

      Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

      General site info:

      • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

      • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

    Guide to Ogden

RV accommodations near Ogden, Utah offer convenient access to northern Utah's Wasatch Mountains, with elevations ranging from 4,300 to 9,000 feet depending on location. The area receives significant snowfall from November through April, limiting some camping options during winter months. Most RV sites within 30 miles of Ogden maintain year-round access, with seasonal operations dictated by mountain pass closures.

    What to do

Riverfront recreation: Visit Riverside RV Resort where campers can enjoy the Weber River. "There is a walking trail that runs along the Weber river and a dog run on the eastern part of the property" according to reviewer Rara B. The resort provides easy access to water activities during summer months.

Mountain biking trails: Access nearby mountain trails from multiple RV parks. "There is a trailhead right down the road that is along the Weber River. Mountain bike or hike, you with have a good time," notes Patrick J. about Riverside RV Resort. Trails range from beginner-friendly paths to technical routes.

Amusement park access: Stay at Lagoon RV Park & Campground for direct access to Lagoon Amusement Park. "The park closes at 10pm with an exit only from the park to the campground," explains reviewer Cortney M. A dedicated walking path connects the campground to the amusement park entrance.

    What campers like

Creek fishing opportunities: Echo Island RV Resort provides fishing access directly from the property. "This site was very big & the creek surrounded on two sides. We got to listen to the birds," writes reviewer Tisha B. The resort maintains a small pond specifically for kids to fish.

Pet-friendly accommodations: Dog owners appreciate dedicated pet areas at multiple RV sites. The Park City RV Resort offers "a nice creek down there and still close bathrooms with shower," according to Alice V., with designated pet areas throughout the property.

Pool and recreation facilities: Campers mention on-site swimming as a highlight. "The amenities are incredible and we had a blast enjoying the pool and doggy areas," says Rara B. about Valley View RV Resort. Most RV parks near Ogden maintain seasonal pools operating from late May through September.

    What you should know

Highway noise considerations: Several RV sites near Ogden sit close to major roadways. At Century RV Park, "Some freeway noise at our site... but wasn't a big deal," reports Calvin B. Riverside RV Resort experiences similar conditions with "The interstate is 20 yards from the first row of sites."

Security features: Many Ogden-area RV parks implement security measures. "The place was nice and new. There is a dog park area and access to a trail which runs along the river," says Brian about Riverside RV Resort, noting the park's controlled access.

Spacing between sites: Site proximity varies significantly between parks. "The sites, streets, and pads, all in excellent condition. Everything looks new," writes Patrick J. about one location, while others mention "the tight cramped spots" as Century RV Park's main drawback.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Families with children benefit from dedicated play areas. One reviewer notes Echo Island RV Resort "had a small pond for kids to fish in, two swimming pools and two hot tubs, very clean and modern facilities." The resort also offers "dvds and sports equipment you can check out."

Wildlife watching: Several campgrounds offer opportunities to observe local animals. At Aspen Grove RV Park, one camper observed various wildlife, though cautions "at night we were also visited by raccoons so make sure you have everything put away before you head to bed."

Off-peak timing: For quieter family experiences, mid-week stays provide less crowded conditions. "We stayed from Wednesday to Friday at around 2pm, we were about the only ones there. Then the place exploded with campers and by 7pm the place was full," reports Sam S. about weekend patterns.

    Tips from RVers

Arrival timing: Love's RV Stop receives positive feedback for check-in flexibility. "We arrived before the 2pm check in time, but no problem. The staff at check in were very welcoming," notes Patrick J., highlighting the streamlined process for tired travelers.

Site selection strategy: Many RV parks offer different tiers of sites with varying amenities. "The sites are huge and I love that they aren't jammed too close together," says Victoria C. about Aspen Grove RV Park, while recommending RVers "get a paved site" at other locations for easier leveling.

Overnight considerations: Several parks cater specifically to overnight travelers. "Great option if you just need an overnight. They will leave a very informative packet for you if you arrive after hours," explains David B. about Century RV Park, noting its proximity to I-15 makes it convenient for through-traffic.
