Castle Gate RV Park allows pets at all sites with full hookups for RVs and cabins for travelers with dogs. Huntington State Park Campground also accommodates pets with spacious campsites featuring picnic tables and fire rings. Most campgrounds in the Cleveland area enforce standard leash requirements, typically six feet or less. Little Grand Canyon Dispersed Camping offers free pet-friendly camping with basic amenities including toilets and trash service. Buckhorn RV Park and Resort provides pet-friendly accommodations across tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and yurts, with water and electric hookups available. Campsites are generally well-spaced, giving pets room to settle without disturbing neighboring campers.

Dog-friendly hiking trails surround many Cleveland area campgrounds, particularly near Joe's Valley and the San Rafael Swell region. Pet owners should note that summer temperatures can exceed 90°F, requiring extra water for dogs and morning or evening exercise schedules. Wildlife encounters are possible in dispersed camping areas, so keeping pets leashed protects both the animals and local wildlife. The Swell Retreat receives consistently positive reviews for its pet-friendly atmosphere and access to outdoor recreation. Hiawatha Hideout features a 2.5-mile loop trail accessible to leashed dogs, leading to historic stone buildings and a stream where pets can cool off. Camping with pets requires planning for weather conditions, as sudden temperature changes can affect animals differently than humans.

      Tie Fork Rest Area

      Rest stop is great!

This is a rest stop. It's great. There is a dog park. Water to hook up to for a fill. There are a ton of picnic tables and a paved walking path through an outdoor educational museum. bathroom too. Perfect for an in between salt lake and Moab.

      Green River KOA

      Nice clean, amenities

Stayed here for a night after a long drive. We wanted to take showers and not have to search for a site. Hot showers, nice staff, dog park. Close to the highway and we backed right up to a motel 6 that was very busy all night. Dogs not allowed at tent sites, but luckily they made a last minute exception for us at the very end tent site.

      Shady Acres RV Park

      Not too bad

Some trees but lots of dirt and no grassy areas. Spaces were nicely distanced for the price ($59 a night for pull-thru FH). They do have a leash less dog park and very reasonably priced laundry.

      Love's RV Hookup-Green River UT 792

What it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in convenience!

After our water getting turned on in our trailer by mistake while driving, this site came as a relief.  It was just plain EASY.  Clean site, full hook ups.  It gave us an opportunity to dry things out, have full power etc.  They had a dog park.  Store, Fuel and food.

A plane flew in 100 yards from our site, the freeway was adjacent, trucks rumbling AND a train track!  Ha ha!  But honestly, it was easy to get a good nights sleep, even so.

      Shady Acres RV Park

      Friendly and convenient

Nice place. Laundry on site which was the biggest draw. Can’t find a laundromat in 100 miles of here lol. Reasonable prices. Clean. Has a fenced in dog park. Not many trees and dusty/sandy but I guess that comes with the area.

      Green River KOA

      Heading Home from Colorado

This KOA was easy to find right off the highway. Office was closed when we arrived but we had a reservation and all the info was waiting for us at the door. Sites are big, clean, all gravel with a picnic table and patio. Clean dog park area. Showers and restrooms appear to be new, clean, roomy, and are individual gender neutral. Only downside is there is limited to no shade which is why the 4 stars.

      Green River KOA

Nice one night stop lol my

We picked this stop on our way to Salt Lake City. Clean, friendly and lots of space. They have increased the area, so I would ask for one of the older sites. They have trees and some shade. The new area is pretty barren. They do have a nice dog park, but large gravel and I have small dogs. Clean bathrooms and showers. I did not use the shower, but my husband did. Her said that he had trouble getting hot water. We are traveling in a class C

      Castle Gate RV Park

      Great Base Camp

We chose this area as a central location to Moab, Provo and SLC! Nice scenic drives to all of those places from camp and did not feel too far out. Campground was clean and well kept. Staff is very nice and helpful. It will be beautiful in a few years with the landscaping investment they have made. Plenty of individual showers. I recommend the ones at office building, they are bigger. Laundry facilities great. Huge plus is dish washing sink with hot water. It is always nice to not have to wash dishes in camper. Dog park, playground and splash pad. My only caution is that it is between Highway and railroad tracks so if you are noise sensitive be aware. We didn’t notice any major noise and slept very comfortably with the nice flowing River behind us. Helper is cute town to explore.

Esquire Estates Mobile Home and RV Park

Beautiful Park, very scenic and quiet

We love going to this Park in Castle Dale.  Castle Dale has so much to offer us because we have 3 kids and there is so much to do in the area.  Our kids are 9, 7 and 3 1/2 so it makes things very convenient and easy for us to go there and we can rent ATV's locally as well and there is a lot of close by site seeing.

The park has a new owner and they have been consistently improving the parks.  We were there about a month ago and they just opened up the laundry facility and club house, I hear they are going to add a dog park , provide propane sales and even have charging stations for EVs.  Love that they are making these improvements shows that they really care

    Guide to Cleveland

The San Rafael Swell region near Cleveland, Utah offers diverse camping options at elevations ranging from 4,500 to 7,000 feet. Summer temperatures regularly climb above 95°F while winter nights frequently drop below freezing, creating distinct camping seasons. The area's extensive BLM land provides access to both established campgrounds and dispersed camping without permit requirements.

    What to do

Explore Nine Mile Canyon: Nine Mile RV Resort serves as a convenient base for exploring this archaeological treasure with over 1,000 rock art panels. "Still under construction, but when finished it will be a very nice and convenient park between Salt Lake to Moab," notes a reviewer, adding it has "full hook ups and great wifi" for planning your excursions.

Mountain biking nearby: Castle Gate RV Park provides easy access to Price's mountain biking trails. "Stayed here a weekend to get in some mountain biking in nearby Price. Everything in the park is immaculate, and very well maintained," shares Aaron, who found this area "a new favorite place to avoid some of the Moab crowd."

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Early mornings at Little Grand Canyon Dispersed Camping offer excellent wildlife watching. "I came here in March and caught a streak of nice weather (60-70 degrees for the high, 30s for the low). Temp was in the 70s with a slight breeze," reports Jason, who returned with family after his initial visit.

    What campers like

Stargazing opportunities: Little Grand Canyon Dispersed Camping offers exceptional dark skies. "This is an amazing place and you will never see a more beautiful night sky," writes Jason, highlighting one of the region's natural advantages over more developed areas.

Riverside relaxation: At Castle Gate RV Park, many sites back up to the Price River. "Site was super level for us. Great space between neighbors on our side of the park. We took our chairs down to the river bank each evening. So tranquil and relaxing!" explains Jody J., describing the riverfront amenities.

Historical exploration: Several Cleveland area campgrounds provide access to local history. Hiawatha Hideout features a "2.5 mile loop trail hike to the sheep camp, pond and stream and historic stone buildings," according to Ashley F., making it ideal for history enthusiasts.

    What you should know

Road conditions vary: Horse Canyon Road dispersed camping requires careful navigation. "Definitely need a bit of clearance but I made it in my Crosstrek. I didn't see a single other person once I got to my site," reports Seanna M., noting the isolation and vehicle requirements.

Traffic noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience transportation noise. "There is a set of train tracks nearby so that may matter if you're a light sleeper. I didn't wake up to any trains so they may not go through at night," notes Fnu L. about Castle Gate RV Park.

Seasonal challenges: Spring and fall offer the best camping conditions. "Not sure if it's the time of year but we were swarmed with gnats all around us and our rig," warns Tanner S. about Horse Canyon Road dispersed camping, highlighting seasonal insect issues.

    Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Swell Retreat offers family-friendly water activities. "The pond was a great way to cool off and have fun, our family loved the zip line into the water and the giant floating water park! It was so nice to have access to paddle boards, kayaks, and a peddle boat," shares Nichelle D.

Spacious camping areas: Look for campgrounds with room for children to play safely. "Plenty of room to stretch out. There is a really cool rail yard across the street where you can watch slow moving locomotives move railcars. There is a little splash zone for the kiddos," Steven M. observes about Castle Gate RV Park.

Food storage considerations: Plan carefully for family meals in this remote area. "Tip for next time: shopping is close, and the townspeople were great. We will buy food in town vs. trying to keep it cold. Camping with a large group made cold food a bit of a challenge," advises Joyce S. from her Swell Retreat experience.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup specifics: Check hookup locations before setting up. "The sewer hookup is located at the back of the site which is a little different but works fine! And the WiFi is the best of any park we have been!" reports Kimberly L. at Castle Gate RV Park.

Water pressure management: Bring pressure regulators for some campgrounds. "Their water pressure is outstanding in fact they recommend a pressure regulator on the supply line," cautions Michael C. about Castle Gate RV Park.

Pet-friendly camping options: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Cleveland have specific pet requirements. "Level site, no amenities, pack it in, pack it out! Sleep beneath millions of stars and then go for a walk," describes Ashley F. about LZJ Ranch's Hiawatha Hideout, a pet-welcoming property with ample walking space.
