    Canyon View RV Park

Just a parking lot, but in a beautiful park/awesome walk/bike trail!

First come, first serve, dump station on site(back of parking lot), friendly camphost; great access to an awesome bike/walk trail, close to town& Walmart

SITE: Water and Electricity only and all amenities worked great. All sites are back in and spaced in a large parking lot. Picnic table per site in the shade under the trees by your site; level site; all concrete; the sites are close together, but it wasn't full so the RVers thoughtfully spaced out from each other; full sun

CELL SERVICE: AT&T worked great- not all bars but it worked well for use working remote and no issues with video calls using our hotspot.

OTHER: Located on the edge of Canyon View Park. The park had just closed as they prep for their annual Christmas light show, but you could still walk on the trail through the park to access the main bike/walk trail which was awesome and goes on for many miles! We loved using this everyday we were there. Bathroom in the park was really clean. Dump station is in the parking lot(super convenient) on the back side. It was super gusty, windy at night and consistent every night from about 11pm- 10am. Maybe it's just seasonal? Make sure your awning is in!

    Washington Lake Campground

A very popular, family friendly, beautiful campground.

We stayed for 7 nights (the limit) in August of 2023. It's all paved, asphalt road and concrete pad for picnic table. Very beautiful setting with the large lake and mountains surrounding. Fishing-yes! Hand powered boating, hiking trails and lots of other lakes to explore.

There no water available but you can fill your RV, Trailer or whatever at the entrance to the Lost Creek CG which is about 3 miles east on Hwy 150. No Dump station, nearest being in Kamas.

Seems to be a popular place for local (SLC) families to gather. Family friendly so lots of kids. Quiet time 10PM to 6AM.

Giant chessboard. Nice pool area. Amazing clubhouse with pool table, foosball, large TV, comfy chairs, guest kitchen area. Complimentary coffee, tea and fresh made cookies. Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Lodgepole Campground

Lodgepole Campground - Group Site B

Nice basic campground just coming out of Heber City, UT on your way to Strawberry Reservoir. This is a fairly large campground with numerous sites. The group site parking was shallow. We could barely fit our 19 ft travel trailer and our truck. Outside of the group site it appears there are deeper sites that could accommodate a long fifth wheel. Parking space is wide enough to park another car next to trailer. There are a few tent sites as around the group site pavilion.

No hookups for RV’s. Dump station on site for $10 fee. RV spots are back in only. There is running water and flushable toilets on site; however, the water line was under repair and not turned on during our stay. It sounds like the repairs have been going on for a long time.

There is cellular service, but it’s a little slow. I have sprint carrier and had service.

Negatives: The campground is close a highway incline/decline which is frequented by Semi’s which bring lots of noise to the campground throughout the day and into the night.

Stinging Nettle: lots of stinging nettle located around group site B, so stay on the paths as much as possible.

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

Guide to Aspen Grove

RV parks near Aspen Grove, Utah sit at elevations between 4,800 and 7,200 feet, with temperatures ranging 10-15°F cooler than Salt Lake City during summer months. Most campgrounds remain open from April through October, though higher-elevation facilities like Echo Island RV Resort limit their full-service season due to winter snowfall that can reach 100+ inches annually at the Aspen Grove elevation.

What to do

Fish in onsite streams: Echo Island RV Resort features camping spots adjacent to two small rivers with excellent fishing opportunities. "Beautiful setting on two small rivers with shade. Full hookups, spacious sites," notes a visitor. The facility includes designated fishing areas for younger anglers, with one reviewer mentioning "a small pond for kids to fish in."

Enjoy mountain bike access: Knotty Pine RV Resort provides direct access to mountain biking trails without the congestion found on Mirror Lake Highway. "We are close to hiking and off-reading without the craziness off Mirror Lake Highway," explains one camper who frequents the area with family.

Explore Park City attractions: Stay at Park City RV Resort to access Park City's attractions via dedicated bike paths. "You have direct access to the bike path that leads directly into Old Town Park City and links you with lots of other trails," writes one camper who appreciated the connectivity to outdoor recreation and urban amenities.

What campers like

Adult-only sections: Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City offers a separate section exclusively for guests 21 and over. "There is a section that is for adults 21 and older where children are not allowed," explains a reviewer who appreciated the option. Another notes, "Now they have opened a new section for adults only, with its own separate 21 and over facilities."

Spacious sites between neighbors: While many RV parks near Aspen Grove have limited spacing, certain campgrounds offer more generous layouts. "The grounds are pretty with grass and trees between each parking pad," reports one visitor to Mountain Valley. At Lakeside, a reviewer notes, "Full hook-up site was surprisingly spacious with green space in-between and trees for shade."

Dedicated pet amenities: Mountain Shadows RV Park provides special accommodations for pets beyond standard dog parks. One visitor reports, "The laundry facilities were nice and even had a designated machine for pet laundry." Another reviewer valued the dedicated exercise area: "There is a big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall."

What you should know

Wood fires prohibited at some parks: Fire restrictions vary significantly between facilities. Park City RV Resort prohibits wood burning completely, though propane options exist. "Fires are not allowed in the individual sites, but the campground has three public gas fire pits. Or if you have your own gas fire pit, they will allow you to use it."

Highway noise varies by location: Traffic noise affects some campgrounds more than others. Pony Express RV Resort sits near a major interstate, with one visitor noting, "Like others have said…if you want space to spread out this is not the place for you." Some campgrounds mitigate noise with strategic layout: "Even though it's right off the highway it was reasonably quiet."

Campsite size and arrangement: At Canyon View RV Park, a visitor reports, "All sites are back in and spaced in a large parking lot. Picnic table per site in the shade under the trees by your site." Another camper at Park City notes the tight quarters: "Spots are long but very narrow. Less than 3' between our slides and the neighbor's slides."

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability varies seasonally: Multiple RV parks offer swimming pools, though availability depends on timing. At Echo Island RV Resort, "They had a small pond for kids to fish in, two swimming pools and two hot tubs, very clean and modern facilities." Another family enjoyed "a cute little shop with firewood, treats, and other necessities and they have DVDs and sports equipment you can check out."

Kid-friendly amenities: Pony Express RV Resort provides equipment rentals specifically for children. "Bikes available including kid sized. Paved 80 mile bike trail along Jordan River. Giant chessboard." Another family recommends Mountain Valley for its "playground and pool" where "our little cousins made plenty of friends."

Noise considerations: Lagoon RV Park adjacent to the amusement park experiences significant fluctuations in crowd levels and noise. "From Wednesday to Friday at around 2pm, we were about the only ones there. Then the place exploded with campers and by 7pm the place was full." Another camper notes simply, "Good for what we needed but it was super crowded probably bc it's next to theme park."

Tips from RVers

Site selection for privacy: At Mountain Valley RV Resort, campers recommend requesting specific areas for more space. "There is an adult only section if you're looking for peace and quiet away from kids. The concrete was level and spacious, each with its own picnic table."

Water pressure considerations: Some RV parks have water pressure issues requiring regulators. At Gladstan Golf Course RV Park, a visitor warns, "The spots are not level, and the water pressure is high. Make sure you have a water regulator." Another camper at Lakeside noted, "Water is split between 2 RV's cutting water pressure down to below 20psi."

Reservation timing: Secure spots well in advance during peak season. Echo Island fills quickly on weekends, as one visitor explains: "Reserved a few hours before arriving on a Sunday in June and there were plenty of spots." For Mountain Valley, visitors recommend booking further ahead: "Very popular so the place is full but everyone had great etiquette."
