    Village Creek State Park Campground

Keep an eye out for Bigfoot!

Great park if you want to get outside, but still want access to civilization.

Park is somewhat of a mix between wetland and forest. While this is an awesome ecosystem with lots to see and explore - take bug spray! Especially if going in May - when the Horseflies are out. We made the mistake of forgoing the Off and got eaten alive. This is our fault, and not the parks, though.

The park is conveniently located just outside of Beaumont. In fact, you may feel like you haven’t left the city until you are there. This can be helpful if you want to grab a bite and not cook, or if you run short of supplies. I would recommend this park especially for someone new to camping.

    Paradise Off The Beaten Path

This may very well be the cheapest lakefront real estate in Texas. You simply cannot beat $15/night right on the water! Very quiet, and never crowded (in November). Decent cell signal, and great reception on my Transistor/Weather radio.

    Beaumont, TX…..Would stay again

Very nice lady called prior to our arrival to ask if she could charge our card so she could prepare the packet. When we arrived it was all ready and maybe took 5 minutes. Didn’t use baths or laundry. Park was clean, plenty of length for our 42’ 5th wheel and truck. Hookups were in good spots. The sites are very narrow and pretty close to fellow campers but it was all good.

Perfect Nights stay when traveling through

We loved this campground. Stayed one night on our way to Houston. Then We stayed one more night on our way back home. Site 18 was pretty level and had full hook ups. The campground overall was really very quiet and peaceful. Was approx 2 miles off highway 59. Had a great playground area for kids and we loved walking down to the lake. The lady running the office was super kind and very helpful. If we ever get back to this area again we will be sure to stay for more than one night.

Transit sites are level concrete pads. WiFi is pretty much what you expect at an rv park. Bathhouses are ok but a little dated.

    Great spot!

Stayed one night and was pleasantly surprised with what the park had to offer. Great views of the water a short walk from my stall, fully renovated and clean bathrooms and decent separation between the sites. My site backed onto the highway but wasn’t very loud. I’d stay here again for the affordable price of $26

    Very peaceful

This place is amazing. The spacing between sites is huge. The lots are. Probably 100 feet. They're almost all I should say. Back inThe closest town is Jasper, which I'll take you. Half an hour to get to so if you need groceries. Bottled water. Propane gas. Get it before you get here.

    Big Rig Friendly

Right off I-10. Roads inside park are large enough to all rig sizes. Our site had dog poop over it when we arrived so they do not check the sites before you arrive. The pad is buried into the ground which cause hills into the grass. A great way to break an ankle. It also caused a hill for the sewer hose to run uphill. Tire ruts along the pads have not been filled in.

    Quiet and roomy

This little RV Park in Winnie Texas is a great spot to overnight or take a few days to rest and organize. Management is friendly and helpful. There are spaces empty so there is plenty of room. There is laundromat and showers although we used neither. There are full hookups with fast internet and cable included. There’s not much to do in Winnie but it was a nice place to rest up before we head back to the beach. Inexpensive.

Free place to rest when driving on 10

Easy to get to, we were the only camper here. Some fishermen down on the water during the day but we were the only campers. Our 42’ 5th wheel fit nicely on the gravel patch by the cement picnic table. Only rules are to register (info on the sign, free but you have to call the number) and don’t park on the grass (there were some day use people parked on the grass but they want campers on the gravel) - can’t beat it for free.

    Clean and Basic

This site is a good place to rest and recover for a few days. Most of the people are residents but there were plenty of empty spots. People are friendly and helpful. The washer/dryer area is small and so is the shower. There’s not a lot to see and do which was fine with us as we had been boondocking on the beach and needed to get ourselves and our rv cleaned. It is inexpensive and dog friendly.

First time I am Escapee’s Campground

I have only been here one night so far and my first impression began with the office staff. They were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are fairly old however they were very clean. Checked out the laundry room which was also clean. I haven’t used it yet but the machines look decent and clean. Because I am an Escapees member my rate for a 30 Amp back in space is 22.00. I consider that very reasonable.

    The Mosquito Coast

The Mosquito Coast Dec 2022•  We had RV campground reservations for 3 nights but left after one because of the mosquitoes. I had read reviews and came prepared with Thermacell repellent and DEET spray but were overwhelmed by the mosquitoes. My Labrador had mosquitoes swarming him. The campground and park is surrounded by a marsh. The mosquitoes are not bad on the beach where there is a breeze. The park rangers are very nice and the campground itself is nice with spacious flat spots with electric and water hook ups. A dump station is available. Verizon coverage is poor. About half the RV spots were used however I only saw one other camper outside of their RV while we were there. I guess everyone else stayed inside their RV because of the mosquitoes. If you are a first time beach camper to the Texas Gulf Coast, try boondocking on the beach here or further down the Bolivar Peninsula near Crystal Beach. You need to be away from the marsh where the breeze keeps the mosquitoes away.
