ScoutI recently visited Palo Duro Canyon Lookout, and wow, the views were incredible! The rugged terrain and unique rock formations make it feel like you’re in another world. I went in the summer, and it got pretty hot with temperatures in the 90s°F, so bring plenty of water. I can imagine winter would be chilly, down to the 30s°F, so dress accordingly. The lookout is really close to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which has some amazing hiking trails if you want to explore more. Definitely worth a visit if you love nature and breathtaking scenery!

ScoutHave stayed here twice. Donation box with suggested $10/night. A bargain. Basically a parking lot in a city park with back in spaces. For what it is, really cannot be beat. Both times there were two other rvs there, so no problem getting a spot, which is good as we arrived late both times. No reservation necessary.
TravelerWe stopped because it was the first site east out of Texas. The place looked closed. No one was here. We chose a spot with trees and because it was borderline hot, plugged in a fan. There are bathrooms and showers. No fire rings. Just off the highway so some noise. Adequate for our needs.

ScoutThis spot really surprised me in the best way. The overlook gives you incredible panoramic views of Palo Duro Canyon— especially during sunset, when the colors light up the entire sky. I car-camped here for a night, and even without water or bathrooms, it felt like the perfect escape from city life. The picnic tables were super handy for dinner, and even though it got windy at night, it was manageable. Stargazing was the highlight— I saw more stars than I’ve ever seen in my life. Just make poor bunny sure to pack your own water, snacks, and warm layers if you're staying overnight. If you’re road-tripping through Texas, this is a stop worth making.
GuideEnter the marina grocery store to pay $18 for a campsite with 30 amp electricity and water hookups. Also have to pay $5 per person to enter. Same price for Sandy Beach campground. We were the only campers at Kincaid Park. There were about 10 sites taken at Sandy Beach.
Clean sites. Pretty close together. Picnic and grill stations throughout the park. Have to walk 5 minutes on dirt road to get to the lake with sandy shore. There were a few people swimming and fishing.
TravelerThis was a spot we found last minute when the first place we booked was not ideal for us. Lexie was extremely friendly on the phone and got us in. Incredibly secluded and serene with amazing views of Palo Duro. Campground is well kept. There are trails and off roading available as well.
