    Mission City RV Park

    Cream of the Crop

You don't get a much nicer RV park than this in a major city. It hits all of the marks: mass transit at your doorstep; pool, laundry, showers and a gift shop at the entrance; easy pull-through, level sites; picnic tables at each site; quaint southwestern style! This is a nice park for the overnight or the long stay, and it has easy access to major highways.

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals

Nice Park with little room between sites

The park it’s self is nice and clean.  Staff for the most part is friendly and nice.  The pool is a hopping place over summer break and on the weekends when it’s warm.  RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening.  They do have over flow parking and depending on your site it could be a good walk.

They are pet friendly and have several dog parks and potty areas through out the park.  The laundry room is like no other I’ve ever been too.  All machines operate via debit/credit cards, no more quarters!!

Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park for monthly stays or in one of their top tier sites for daily/weekly stays.

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park

Tight Park in an Open Field

Pros Just 3 miles from the popular downtown shopping district

Level gravel site with mini picnic table and fire ring

Very nice rally hall, group fire pit and group pavilion

Very nice and very clean shower and toilet facilities

Combo code required to access toilets and showers

Majority of sites are pull thru

    $1.50 on-site laundry

    Residential size hot tub

    Small pool

    Volleyball net

    Small Playground

100% occupancy during our 2 night stay

    Park WiFi

    4 bars Verizon signal

    Cons

Just an open field. No shade. This is not even a vineyard!

    Very tight check in parking

Lots and lots of tall speed bumps throughout park

Small tree between site prevent our awning deployment

Sites tightly packed together; Our sewer connection was inches from next site’s picnic table!

Most of the time during our stay in site 80, there was a horrific odor from the sewer lift station 100 ft away

    Not dark sky friendly.

Street lights and utility pedestal lights.

Initially assigned site was changed without any notice so our request to be sited away from a street light not honored

Significant traffic noise from Hwy 87 (even at night) and we were half way down the park Unable to access all 24 cable TV channels; could only connect to 6 channels.

    Alsatian RV Resort

    Exceptional Customer Service

This campground(CG)/RV resort has exceptional customer service. We were on a waitlist to add another day to our reservation. They proactively called us back about a month later to let us know they could accommodate another night’s stay. We followed the website instructions to come in so we could take a right turn into the RV Resort, which is a 1/4 mile from the golf course entrance. A very short rig could take a left turn. The gate was down so we called the number listed on the gate and we were let in for a very pleasant check-in. We were assigned pull-through site 406 with FHUs. There’s a slope off the front of the site, so I needed to center the rig on the level part of the cement pad. By doing this I needed 20’ of sewer hose to get from my rear black tank to the sewer. The CG was quiet with no kids running around as this is a 55+ CG. The guest internet was below average for a park this size, but we have Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. Most of the campers here were seasonal with license plates from CO, MN, and WI. Several of the campers we talked to didn’t golf and came here to get away from cold weather. We did not see any overnighters during our four-day stay but this CG is fairly far from the San Antonio area interstates. CG was well-kept with no junky sites. They have a laundry room, but a couple of machines were not working. The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious. The sites were not as far apart or as large when compared to many of the State Parks or Corps of Engineers CGs we’ve stayed. Get pizza from Luigi's Italian Restaurant in nearby Castroville as it’s in the top 5 pizzas we’ve had as we traveled through all lower 48 states. We enjoyed our stay, including playing their challenging golf course, and would definitely return.

    Sunset RV Park

    Peace in Hill Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as a Basecamp — grounds that offer a comfortable home base that you’re happy to return to after a day of exploring the surrounding area. Ratings for this category are based on: Value to cost: 5 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, layout, accessibility): 4 Local Attraction Proximity: 4 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Amenities: 4 Customer Service: 5 Cleanliness: 4

A really lovely spot in Dripping Springs, Sunset RV Park is a small park in Hill Country outside Austin (this is not the one near Lake Travis). It’s clear that this is a destination spot for snowbirds to the area as most everyone was set-up for a long-term stay and we saw very few folks come and go during our one-week stay. The park is very quiet with close attention paid to COVID precautions (this is the first park we encountered that was 100% contact free check in).

The park is built somewhat into a hill, so some of the turns are a little tricky and our spot was a bit uneven. The space itself was a very wide asphalt driveway with a picnic table and metal fire ring below a stone wall, perhaps a bit close to our neighbors as I wasn’t totally certain it was definitely ours to use.

The amenities are pretty basic- clean laundry and bathrooms and a good enough wifi signal to allow us to use the internet easily. There’s also propane available on site. I enjoyed the layout of the grounds and each site was afforded some privacy thanks to the set-up and tiered spaces. The weekly rate of $300 was very reasonable.

Excellent access to Hamilton Pool (make reservations!), Reimers Ranch and Westcave Discovery Center. Also about 30 minutes to most of Austin including SoCo, McKinney Falls SP and 6th Street.

Reservations were made by phone with a very friendly woman and, as I mentioned, check in was contactless, so we really didn’t encounter anyone else aside from a friendly wave from folks maintaining the grounds in golf carts. The place is a nice find outside Austin and very close by to family for us, so we’re happy to have found it and will return!

    Fort Sam Houston Army RV

    Good trip!

All the sites are pull-through with full hookups(30 and 50 amp), and spacious enough for even the largest rigs. The grass was freshly mowed, and the park was clean. Staff were super friendly. There's a decent dog run at the back, propane available for purchase on-site, and two wash houses with washers and dryers. A large playground keeps the little ones entertained. Despite many full-timers, there were still plenty of open spots. It was very quiet—aside from the occasional train, which isn’t noticeable with the A/C running. Would be a 5-star stay if there were just a bit more shade [geometry dash 3d](https://geometrydash3d.com).

Guide to Kendalia

Kendalia, Texas sits in the heart of Texas Hill Country at approximately 1,300 feet elevation, characterized by rolling limestone hills and juniper-cedar forests. Temperatures range from winter lows in the 30s to summer highs regularly exceeding 95°F. RV parks near Kendalia offer both shaded and open sites, with most accommodations situated along the Guadalupe River watershed that provides recreational opportunities.

What to do

River activities: explore the Guadalupe River at Rio Guadalupe Resort & RV Park where "Great park. Easy pull through sites with very nice grounds. Swimming pool and 1/4 mile river access. Shallow river area for all ages" according to Patrick H. The resort offers tube, raft and kayak rentals with shuttle service for convenient river enjoyment.

Tennis and recreation: access multiple sports courts at Summit Vacation Resort where you'll find "swimming, miniature golf, basketball, tennis, etc." Eli D. notes that "the views are really pretty since the RV park is down in a valley." The resort offers these amenities year-round with no seasonal closures.

Wildlife viewing: watch for deer at dusk in the camping areas. Laura H. reports at Summit Vacation Resort, "Small deer herds would move through the park each evening. Many of the campers feed them corn and they know the sounds and come running out of the hills." Early morning and evening offer the best wildlife spotting times.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: At Spring Branch RV Park, "Spots on the north side in an oak grove and are laid out to meet the terrain. The south side is not as treed," according to Laura K. Campers appreciate thoughtful site layout that works with the natural landscape.

Quality infrastructure: Steven F. notes that Spring Branch RV Park provides "Paved roads, clean sites with good power and water everything is surrounded by mature oak trees and the staff is absolutely wonderful." The concrete pads help with leveling, especially important during rainy seasons.

River access: At Rio Guadalupe Resort & RV Park, Becky B. shares "The best part was the river access. It was beautiful! The river access is Overlooking a canyon wall, with ducks and deer roaming and a huge yard of grass all the way down to the waters edge. White lights illuminate it at night." The slow-moving water is ideal for paddle boarding upstream.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer temperatures regularly exceed 95°F, making shade a premium feature. At Old River Road RV Resort, campers appreciate the "indoor pool and hot tub that is heated" according to Sheila C., making swimming possible even during cooler months.

Site variety: Each RV park offers different site configurations. At Rio Guadalupe Resort, one camper notes "the pads alternate directions, so you can camp with your friends (or with new friends) instead of with their sewer connections." This setup creates communal green spaces between units.

Check-in processes: Some RV parks near Kendalia provide after-hours check-in. At Austin Lone Star RV Community, Joana A. explains, "The owners do a great job of contacting you with all the instructions and help you might need before you even arrive." Not all parks offer this service, so confirm check-in times when making reservations.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Alamo Fiesta RV Resort offers family activities near the campsites. BL E. reports, "Pool was also clean. Tennis court was down (no net)." Several RV parks in the area offer swimming pools to help families cool off during hot summer days.

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds feature designated play areas. Sheila C. notes that Old River Road RV Resort has "a great playground for kids as well as a covered basketball court. The basketball court also has a net that can be used for tennis or pickle ball."

Riverfront safety: For families with young children, look for shallow river access points. At Rio Guadalupe Resort, Patrick H. specifically mentions "Shallow river area for all ages" which provides safer water play for smaller children compared to deeper sections of the Guadalupe.

Tips from RVers

Internet connectivity: Cell service varies throughout the area. At Austin Lone Star RV Community, Joana A. reports the park is "safe (gated entry), well kept, pretty." Several parks offer WiFi, but quality varies by location and usage. Julia M. noted at Spring Branch RV Park, "Free Wifi works great and good speed! Great cell service as well."

Pet facilities: Many RV parks have designated dog areas. Beth P. specifically recommends Spring Branch RV Park as "a full service campground with nice facilities and a large fenced dog yard for pups to run and play!" Levi B. similarly recommends Summit Vacation Resort for its "Good sized shady fenced in dog park in the back with a picnic table."

Site selection: For quieter stays, request sites away from highways. Kelly B. notes at Alamo Fiesta RV Resort, "If your site is close to the interstate, you may hear some road noise, but it didn't bother us." Interior sites typically offer more shade and less highway noise than perimeter locations.
