    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Holiday Park Campground

Hard to Believe You’re Next to a Big City

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground(CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77,& 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83- 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

    The Vineyards Campground & Cabins

    Very nice

Our site had a concrete pad for our rv. Full hookups are very nice. While we were here nightly thunderstorms came in. The staff were on top of it as they drove around alerting everyone about the wind approaching. Clean laundry room and restrooms. We didn’t use the store due to corona fears and didn’t need to. Pet friendly. Quiet at night. I would absolutely stay here and recommend it to anyone. The only spring time issue is lake flooding will close it.

Guide to Duncanville

RV sites near Duncanville, Texas provide convenient access to both urban attractions and countryside amenities. Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex at approximately 550 feet elevation, the region experiences hot summers with temperatures frequently reaching triple digits from June through September. Winter camping is mild with occasional freezing temperatures, making it a year-round destination for travelers needing accommodations while visiting the area.

What to do

Lake activities: Near Rock Island RV Park, visitors can enjoy water recreation with a "quaint little pond with many of the RV units surrounding the water. Ducks and geese flock in the area and create a fun atmosphere to spend time in."

Shopping excursions: The Northlake Village RV Park provides a central location for retail therapy. One camper noted it's "Secluded quiet place near Roanoke and Grapevine," giving easy access to shopping centers while maintaining a peaceful camping environment.

Sports events: Baseball and football fans appreciate camping near Arlington. "Cowboys football and Rangers baseball only a few miles away, plus 6 Flags amusement park," mentioned a camper at Treetops RV Resort, highlighting the convenience for sports enthusiasts.

What campers like

Security features: Gated access provides peace of mind at several campgrounds. A camper at Northside RV Resort appreciated that it's "Gated. Level pads. Quiet. Dog park. Play ground. Wifi. Cable. Lake."

Clean facilities: Plantation Place receives consistent praise for cleanliness. "We love this place. Clean. Quite and well managed. The place is alway immaculate. Friendly staff," reported one satisfied camper.

Shopping opportunities: Weekend flea market access draws many to certain parks. "Our 2nd visit and it is great, everything you need to live here on site... Not to mention, one of the biggest flee markets around and it's 2 days of walking and shopping," explained a camper about Traders Village.

Mature shade trees: During hot Texas summers, shade becomes crucial. "The trees are beautiful and add great shade. Most of spaces are pull through and very easy to setup at," noted a visitor at Treetops RV Resort.

What you should know

Limited bathroom facilities: Some campgrounds operate without certain amenities. A camper at Plantation Place warned: "WARNING: NO BATHROOMS, NO SHOWERS. Quiet park with easy access to Dallas. Nice dog walking area and dog park. Full hookups... For me, $36, 2 1/2 hours of an afternoon and a trip to Loves for a 2 showers and all was good but I'd have planned differently had I known."

Long-term vs. short-term focus: Many RV parks cater primarily to extended stays. "From my own observations, it looks like this particular park caters to long term rentals more than it does short term. While staying here we met a few 'residence' who had been there for months," explained a camper at Northlake Village.

Noise considerations: Highway and train noise affects some locations. One camper noted: "The road is very loud and there are train tracks with train horns blaring all night long - make sure your bedroom faces away from the road for the best sleep."

Seasonal bug activity: Insects can be problematic during warmer months. A camper reported: "The bugs are bad here, we had ants in our trailer and lots of bites. When it rains stay on the pavement as the mud is nasty and gumbo."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Northside RV Resort offers dedicated play spaces for children. "There is a pond with a fountain and a HUGE fireplace (not fire pit) for relaxing," noted one camper, mentioning family-friendly amenities.

Pool considerations: Swimming options vary between parks. "We had a fire pit and picnic table. The bath houses are nice and private... My boys jumped in the pool even though it was 55* outside and said it was a fun experience," shared a Treetops visitor.

Proximity to attractions: Family-friendly location matters for activities. A camper at Treetops RV Resort appreciated the "Easy access to Target just around the corner, Parks mall is close by and Arlington Highlands shopping is really nice!"

Wi-Fi reliability: Internet access varies widely between campgrounds. "WiFi worked for my family of 5 the majority of the time for simple things. Hubby works remotely and went to Panera for stronger/faster service," reported a family at Treetops.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: For easier parking, choose sites carefully. "Our spot was 171 and was very well shaded, the only thing is our trailer was level but we felt like we were leaning back," advised a camper at Treetops RV Resort.

Site dimensions: Many campgrounds near Duncanville offer suitable RV sites. Chisholm Trail RV Community is undergoing improvements with "Chip Seal Roads and RV Covers on every spot," according to a recent visitor.

Staff assistance: First-time RVers should seek help when available. "This was our first time ever in our first trailer ever and it was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a pull thru super. Lots of shade, and the trees were trimmed with plenty of room," shared a Treetops camper.

Reservation recommendations: For overnight camping accommodations near Duncanville, early booking is advisable. "The park has a gate with a code needed to enter," noted a camper, highlighting security features that require advance arrangements.
