Live Oak Ridge and Cedar Ridge campgrounds accommodate pets with designated pet-friendly sites and covered picnic tables. These Corps of Engineers parks on Belton Lake provide water and electrical hookups suitable for both RV and tent camping with dogs. Union Grove Park also permits pets throughout its facilities, offering cabin options for campers preferring indoor accommodations with their animals. The sites at Live Oak Ridge feature ample distance between neighbors, creating space for pets to rest comfortably while maintaining respectful boundaries. Most campgrounds enforce standard leash policies, with Gather Campground providing designated pet areas throughout the property that campers frequently use.

Westcliff Park grants water access for dogs who enjoy swimming, with boat ramps available at several Belton Lake campgrounds including Live Oak Ridge and Dana Peak. When planning a trip with pets, visitors should note that sandy areas around Stillhouse may contain burrs that can become caught in long-haired animals' fur. Mother Neff State Park Campground provides both electrical and sewer hookups for extended stays with pets, while maintaining trails where leashed dogs can explore the natural terrain. The campgrounds generally maintain clean facilities with restrooms and trash disposal, essential for managing pet waste properly. Tranquil Gardens RV Park offers full hookups and shower facilities for travelers with pets needing longer-term accommodations, though sites tend to be closer together than at the Corps of Engineers parks.

      Berry Springs Park & Preserve

      Hidden gem near Austin

Nice park and campground very near Georgetown, Texas. Berry Springs is a local county park and preserve. The Park is located just north of Georgetown Texas about 1 mile off Interstate 35 the main highway between Dallas and Austin. It’s a Great location with loads of open space. They have basic sites with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and hooks for hanging items. The former ranch has a lot of history dating back to the Texas Pioneer days. The park is located next to clear spring fed river for swimming and fishing. This may be a great option for those looking for a location close to Austin or a local family weekend. The camp was nearly empty in October this year which is the peak season for camping in Texas. The sites are best suited for tent camper, vans, and smaller trailers.

      Retreat at 971 RV Park

      Great RV Park!

Great RV Park with plenty of parking spots and plenty of room in between campers. It’s gravel with grass lawns that they keep up very well and concrete patios for camper steps. It has satellite and WiFi for each camp spot. The office is really nice it has a store, laundry mat, bathrooms and showers. There is a dog park, swimming pool, horseshoe pits and playground for the kids. And the whole park is fenced in and gated at the entrance. Just check out their website for pics!

      Jellystone Park™ Austin North

      Beautiful Resort

Beautiful flat paved resort with tiny home community, convenience store in the office, heated pool, large clean newly renovated shower rooms, laundry, beautiful fitness center with modern equipment. They also just opened up a lazy river with water Park features like a water slide and splash machines, and just last week they started putting up a giant stone tumbler for kids. Multiple dog parks and a nice large playground. I've been to RV parks and resorts all across the country this reminds me of the expensive resorts in Vegas for literally a third the cost. The wind in Texas is brutal but you'll probably find that anywhere. Great place, great people.

      Magnolia RV Resort

      Well kept RV Park

Well kept RV Park with friendly staff. This park sports an "old side" and "new side". It offers covered sites (extra cost), propane fill station, dumpsters, bath/toilet houses, laundry room, dog park, pool with sun or shaded seating, small storefront, WiFi & cable, free waffle breakfasts on the weekends and a fishing pond. Located just off the highway makes for an easy commute for work or adventures. Some of the sites are quite cramped. It took 20 minutes to get into our spot due to many trees and other campers/ vehicles. Spent one week here and probably would not stay here again due the very loud traffic noises.

    Guide to Belton

Belton Lake camping areas sit at approximately 600 feet above sea level in central Texas, with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F from June through September. The area receives about 35 inches of rainfall annually, creating seasonal variations in water levels that affect swimming and boating access at several campgrounds throughout the year.

    What to Do

Hiking and mountain biking: Dana Peak Park features several miles of trails for outdoor enthusiasts. "This is a nice campground with spacious sites right on the lake with covered picnic tables. The park has many miles of mountain bike and hiking trails," notes Laura F. about Dana Peak.

Fishing from campsite: Some campgrounds offer direct access for fishing without needing to relocate. "All of the campsites are directly on the water. The lake is beautiful and there are usually very few people there," shares Marci W. about Dana Peak Park.

Wildlife viewing: Cedar Ridge Park offers abundant wildlife observation opportunities. "You will see large groups of deer, turkey etc just wandering around," explains Jeff H. about Cedar Ridge, making it ideal for nature photography and animal watching.

    What Campers Like

Spacious, private sites: Live Oak Ridge provides ample space between campsites. "Large sites with ample vehicle parking that offer substantial distance from the neighboring sites give room to bring multiple vehicles or a boat along with the RV," reports Cheryl D. about Live Oak Ridge.

Lake views and water activities: Stillhouse Park offers various water recreation options. "This campsite is perfect for all your needs. It has everything. Hiking, boating, biking, swimming, fishing. It is so perfect and the views are amazing," shares Sarah P. about Stillhouse.

Well-maintained facilities: Mother Neff State Park consistently receives praise for cleanliness. "Wonderful large level sites. With table, lantern pole, fire pit. Super clean restrooms and the park is very well maintained," notes Tammie L. about the campground facilities.

    What You Should Know

Seasonal closures: Dana Peak has specific operating months. "They are only open from March 2nd to September 30th for the year of 2022. This might change for 2023," advises Joel K., providing important planning information.

Wind conditions: Strong winds can affect tent camping in some locations. "The only draw back was the winds, they were so strong they shattered our tent poles. So i would definitely check the weather before selecting a date," warns Janese W. about her experience at Dana Peak.

SpaceX testing impact: Some campers report unexpected noise from nearby facilities. "SpaceX is nearby. You sometimes will hear loud booms at night from their tests. Makes for an interesting time I suppose," reports Emily M. about Mother Neff State Park Campground.

    Tips for Camping with Families

Playgrounds and recreation: Live Oak Ridge offers family-friendly amenities. "A better-than-typical playground is set in a great interior place for all to enjoy," mentions Cheryl D., highlighting recreational options for children.

Swimming considerations: Water conditions at Dana Peak can help during hot weather. "The water is crystal clear, so we just went down and hopped in the water when it got to hot," shares Sheila C., offering a practical tip for families camping during summer heat.

Short hiking options: Mother Neff State Park provides manageable trail experiences for families. "Walking all of the trails took under 2hrs. There are some great features including a rocky overhang and hillside," Daniel L. explains about the park's accessible hiking options.

    Tips from RVers

Full hookup options: For those seeking complete amenities, Mother Neff provides comprehensive services. "Full hook-ups and very level. Clean bathrooms and facilities," Greg B. shares about Union Grove, a dog friendly campground near Belton with full amenity access.

Shade considerations: Several campgrounds have limited tree cover, affecting comfort during hot months. "The one downside is that the sites do not have decent sized trees so I expect this would not be a great place to stay in the middle of summer," cautions Laura F. regarding Dana Peak Park.

Mobile reception: Connectivity varies between parks, which matters for those working remotely. "I also had good enough service with AT&T to work with my phone's hotspot, but Verizon was pretty poor and even streaming videos was choppy, though you can call and text as usual," notes Cari E. about Live Oak Ridge.
