    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Camping opportunities near Germantown, Tennessee primarily consist of established RV parks and campgrounds within a 30-mile radius of the city. The Memphis metropolitan area features several dedicated camping areas including Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, Agricenter RV Park, and T.O. Fuller State Park Campground, which accommodate tent camping, RV sites, and in some locations, cabin rentals. Rather than wilderness camping, the region is characterized by developed facilities with hookups and amenities convenient for travelers visiting Memphis attractions.

Road access to camping areas is generally straightforward with most campgrounds situated near major highways and interstates. Full hookup sites predominate in this urban-adjacent region, with several campgrounds offering year-round accessibility. "This is basically a parking lot for RVs, not a campground. Campers are stacked on top of each other," noted one visitor about Agricenter International RV Park, highlighting the urban nature of many camping options. Weather considerations include hot, humid summers and mild winters, making spring and fall particularly pleasant for camping. Several campgrounds implement reservation systems, especially during peak travel seasons and Memphis events, though walk-in availability varies by location.

Campers seeking more natural settings often gravitate toward Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, which provides a more traditional camping experience with forest surroundings approximately 20 miles from Germantown. For those prioritizing convenience to Memphis attractions, the RV parks closer to the city offer easy access to Graceland, Beale Street, and other cultural sites. One visitor mentioned that SK Campground, though small, offers a surprisingly tranquil experience: "At the end of the street, near the woods, a stunning place, real heaven for a camper." Most camping areas provide basic amenities including showers, restrooms, and electrical hookups, though privacy can be limited at the more densely packed urban sites. Proximity to Memphis International Airport means some campgrounds experience aircraft noise, particularly during early morning hours.

Hollywood Casino RV Park - Tunica

Only RV Park around Tunica Resorts

Booked a complete reservation(paid in full) online 2 weeks in advance and called a few days prior to inquire on check-in procedures and ask about early check in since we were coming from a few hours away. Was told that the RV Park has"any time" check in and when you check in proceed to the hotel registration desk to receive your site number. Upon arrival-- DO NOT FOLLOW THE SIGNS THAT DIRECT YOU TO THE RV PARK! Instead proceed down the far, far left arrow(not under the archway) around the back and that will take you to the hotel entrance where you can park easily to go inside and check in I reserved a pull through. We did not get a pull through. Every pull through was occupied but one and the water did not work on that site. We were given a back in site. I asked at check in if it was the same price since I booked a pull through and was told it was the same price. I also asked if we would fit and was informed that every site is the same length. They are not! We were given site#43. We did not even attempt it, we would not have fit. Our camper is 35 ft. And truck is 25 ft. I called the number and was transferred to the supervisor and explained the situation. By chance we were driving around and saw site#10 and inquired while she was on the phone with me. We fit in site#10. 1st and foremost, I am in no way bashing work camps. They serve a purpose and hubby has utilized them over the years with his previous employment. However, this is a work camp with a few travelers. Totally misrepresented online. It is not your typical casino RV park. It is run down along with the casino and several of the casinos in the Tunica area have been closed or are being torn down. It was quiet-ish. Being a work camp, diesels fired up between 3am-6am. People returned to their campers between 5pm-8pm. The bathhouse resembled a barracks after quitting time. Quiet time was 10pm and it was quiet until it was time to go to work. Everyone around did keep to themselves. Our"neighbors" were friendly and courteous. The RV park served its purpose to decompress and look at our route over the Mississippi River. We camped at Hollywood Casino Hotel& RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hollywood Casino RV Park - Tunica

      No longer available for campers

Pulled in here after driving all day and the park was full of campers that looked to be somewhat long term. I went inside to pay for site 63 (which was empty and the camper next door said was used all the time for overnight camping) and they said we are full and there's no water at site 63. The manager said this park used to be used for casino customers, but now they are renting long term to construction workers. It would have cost $40 to stay if they had space. Too bad- we would have eaten in a casino restaurant and played a bit. We left and drove to Enid Lake and stayed at a COE CG that was one of the nicest ever, at $10 less for the night. Lessons learned-definitely need to call ahead even though people said just pull in no reservations needed-also- awesome stay for less just down the road. Spaces at Hollywood were close together, paved, there is laundry on site. Staff in the casino (hotel desk) were friendly and helpful.

      Tom Sawyer's RV Park

      Beautiful campsite close to city

This is our 3rd visit to this campground. Worth the short drive off Route 40 to get an awesome view of the river and nice benches along river if you’re not up for walking in the heat of summer. Rather level concrete and gravel spots.

Fort Pillow Historic State Park Campground

      Hidden Gem

My husband and I loved the 20Amp tent sites. The bathrooms were close by and extremely clean, with good water pressure and temperature. It’s also a great price compared to other state park prices. We cannot wait to come back!

      Hurricane Landing

      Very nice

Showed up after rain and the grass was a little long. They showed up to mow the day after we arrived. There are showers and bathrooms and the spot was very affordable. Walking distance from the water. I could see the water from my spot.

    Guide to Germantown

Camping options near Germantown, Tennessee span three neighboring states - Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. The region sits at approximately 300 feet above sea level in the Mississippi River valley, where summer humidity levels regularly exceed 80% and winter temperatures rarely drop below freezing. Most campsites near Germantown provide electrical hookups, with campgrounds offering varied levels of privacy depending on proximity to Memphis.

    What to do

River watching: 10 miles west of Germantown at Tom Sawyer's RV Park, visitors can watch Mississippi River traffic. "Tugboats pushed barges against the current at a slower than walking pace. Trees with root balls intact floated downstream," notes one visitor describing the river views.

Cultural exploration: 25 minutes from Germantown at T.O. Fuller State Park, the Chucalissa Museum features Native American artifacts. "The park is 1,138 acres and offers plenty of recreational activities including hiking, an Olympic-size pool, basketball court, tennis courts, ranger-led programs, picnic pavilions, a playground, and a cultural center displaying artifacts found on the property," explains one camper who visited the museum.

Family entertainment: 15 miles from Germantown at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Memphis, activities keep children engaged. "Traveling from California with kids who have been at the mercy of cross-country RV parks- this was a reprieve for them, pool, bikes, playgrounds," shares one family who made this campground their Memphis-area base.

    What campers like

Direct access to Graceland: 20 minutes from Germantown at Graceland RV Park & Campground, Elvis fans appreciate the proximity. "The campground is located adjacent to Graceland with a connecting gate for easy access," notes one reviewer who visited specifically for Elvis-related tourism.

Free laundry facilities: 30 minutes from Germantown at Tom Sawyer's RV Park, visitors appreciate practical amenities. "The free laundry facilities were very clean and nice with several machines," writes one long-term camper who stayed from March through November.

Natural setting: 20 miles north of Germantown at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, campers enjoy the forested environment. "This park has tons of trees. Every site feels like it was cut right out of the trees," explains one tent camper who appreciated the contrast to more urban campgrounds in the region.

    What you should know

Airport noise affects some locations: Particularly at Southaven RV Park, located 25 minutes from Germantown. "Incoming flights to Memphis start flying overhead at 4:15 am. They take a direct path over top of this park," warns one light sleeper who experienced early morning disruptions.

Industrial odors near specific parks: Be aware when camping at T.O. Fuller State Park. "There's a smell due to the industrial zone right outside the park but, for a quick one night stay it ain't bad," notes one camper who stayed briefly while traveling through.

Flooding concerns at riverside campgrounds: The Mississippi River location at Tom Sawyer's RV Park presents seasonal challenges. "This campground is right on the Mississippi River, only problem is if the river is over its banks, then the campground is closed," cautions a regular visitor familiar with the park's seasonal closures.
