Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Spartanburg, SC

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Croft State Park Campground welcomes pets on all sites, featuring spacious areas and a lakeside camping loop with water views. The park provides drinking water, electric hookups, and fire rings at most pet-friendly sites. Tent campers, RV travelers, and those with travel trailers find accommodations that allow dogs throughout the park. Campsite surfaces are primarily gravel, which can be uncomfortable for tent campers but work well for RVs and trailers. Leashed pets must be attended at all times while exploring the park's extensive trail system. Pine Ridge Campground and Spacious Skies Peach Haven also accept pets, offering additional options for campers traveling with dogs. Campsites feature picnic tables and fire rings, with many sites providing water and electric hookups. Yellow jackets can be problematic during certain seasons, particularly affecting campers with food or pets outdoors.

The park's extensive network of trails provides excellent opportunities for exercising dogs on leashes. Hiking paths lead to a creek suitable for dogs to cool off during summer months. Many campers report that their dogs enjoyed wading in the stream accessible via a short trail from the campground. Croft State Park's equestrian facilities include stables and riding trails that share space with hikers and their pets. Lake Craig offers fishing opportunities, though dogs must remain leashed near the water. The park is particularly quiet at night, making it suitable for pets that are sensitive to noise. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than six feet when outside designated areas. Multiple campers note the campground's peaceful setting and friendly atmosphere where fellow campers often assist one another. The park's location provides reasonable access to veterinary services in nearby Spartanburg should pet emergencies arise while camping.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

    Awesome for dogs and people!

We camped here back in August and had a blast! We brought our two dogs and they also had a great time. This site is very dog friendly (obviously), with many sites having their own fenced in yards. We opted for a site without a fence, which we regretted once we got there. The gravel at our site was painful for our dog’s feet and they had a hard time walking on it. The dog parks made up for this! There are multiple large dog parks located at the campground. The restrooms were awesome, but are single person use only. We felt like we were the only ones using them (that’s how well maintained they were). Campsites are close together but we didn’t mind. The staff was great, they helped us find our site and even helped us back our camper in. There was power and water hookup at each site. There is tons of stuff to do around the area too. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure are right around the corner and SO FUN.

    Bent River Equestrian

Great camping near mountain biking and hiking

Great place to spend a couple of nights. Went over Labor Day weekend with 5 or 6 other groups and still felt like we had full privacy. Fire pits, an outdoor shower, and a porta-potty. Cute horses and barn cats to pet and watch

    Travelers Rest-North Greenville KOA

    Ranger Review: Travelers Rest KOA

Very pretty campground in the fall. Operators live onsite and were friendly. Full connections and no issues leveling. Easy in/out and close to Greenville, Paris Mountain, Travelers Rest, Swamp Rabbit Trail etc. Bathhouses were very clean, but the lights are on motion detectors which weren’t sensitive enough to pick you up in the shower. We both had a couple moments of total darkness to contend with. A camp cat hung around our site at times and loved the heat coming out of our furnace. We don’t have pets so didn’t mind. Cell coverage was great (att & Verizon), so we had no issues working our 9-5s. Love the bubbling creek next to our site, which was so pretty from our back window. We’d definitely stay again.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

Amazing Campground for Pups and Adults

We visited this park a few weeks ago and wished we could have stayed longer! It's a well-kept, clean park within approximately half an hour from Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed). It is an adult only campground that is dog-centric... For us the best of both worlds! Includes several dog parks for large and small breads, and a pond in which the pups can swim and splash around. We've never been to a park like this one and highly recommend it if you can get in. We'll be back for sure!

    Awesome Visit & Stay

We love this campground and can not wait to go back. It is in a great location and has a great staff. The cleanest campground we’ve stayed at: laundry room, bathhouse, etc. Awesome play ground for all ages of children, two dog parks, ponds, level sites, etc. We stayed in March so the pool was not open but looking forward to visiting again soon.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat

    Glamping with your pups

This place was a 13 hour drive and so worth it. All of the cabins and trailers available to rent are so reasonably priced and have AC and fully fucntioning appliances. Every cabin or RV rental has its own private gated yard with your own firepit. Several dog parks and a private pond for the pups means days of fun for an active, social dog. Everyone is so kind, the women who run this place are so sweet and they were incredibly accomodating. The camp store has tons of treats and necessities for dogs and people, and a dog washing station and laundry are available communally. We spent our days hiking the nearby Chimney Rock and hanging around Lake Lure (FYI Dirty Dancing was filmed here whoa). We also checked out the Equestrian center which was an awesome recommendation of the staff and also dog friendly. Definitely recommended for people who like day hikes and adventures and coming back to a cozy camp cabin.

    GSP RV PARK

    Nice park, nice people

This is a well-maintained park with very friendly staff and guests. Spacious dog park, fresh gravel in the spots, fire pit area with string lights. We had a change of plans the morning of checkout, and they let us check out a little late since the park wasn’t fully booked, which was so helpful and kind of them. The park is centrally located near downtown Greer (very cute with lots of shops and restaurants) and a short drive from Greenville and Travelers Rest. We will definitely be back while passing through this area next time!

    Great stopover place

We were here one night. CG is nice, they have some seasonal sites and a lot of other sites. There are some new sites along the pond on the lower level. They also had buddy sites, perfect for a 2+ campers to gather as a group. Nice dog park, nice playground.

    We would stay here again.
