Best RV Parks & Resorts near Clarks Summit, PA

Several RV camping destinations surround Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, featuring various hookup options and seasonal availability. Lackawanna State Park Campground operates from April through October with electric sites, fifty-amp hookups, and sanitary dump facilities. Sites accommodate larger RVs and provide water hookups throughout the park. "Nice level sites easy to back in rv and set up," noted one camper who visited the area. Clayton Park RV Escape provides big-rig friendly sites with full hookups including water, electric, fifty-amp service, and sewer connections. Frances Slocum State Park Campground offers electric sites with both thirty and fifty-amp hookups, though the sites are not designated as big-rig friendly.

Fall months bring increased demand for RV sites across the Pocono region, making advance reservations essential during peak foliage season. Many campgrounds close by mid-October, with Lackawanna State Park remaining open until the third Sunday in October and Frances Slocum following a similar schedule. Winter camping options are limited, with only a few private RV parks operating year-round. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, some campgrounds have tighter spacing between RV sites, particularly at private resorts. Most state park campgrounds provide showers, dump stations, and pet-friendly designated sites, though alcohol policies vary between parks. Pull-through RV pads are less common than back-in sites throughout the area.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Montrose Campground

Family and pet friendly year-around campground

We tried this campground a few times for short stays and ended up going seasonal last year and will do the same this year. It is a little off the beaten path but is great for families (plenty of activities for kids) and pets (our dog LOVES it there). They have a pool, fishing pond, hiking trails, mini golf, playground, large grassy areas for kids to play, and horseshoe pits. There is a store (stocked with grocery staples/snacks but also TONS of RV specific supplies/parts), laundry and showers (a new and improved bath house is currently being built). There are planned activities almost every weekend during the 'season' but they are open all year with some winter sites available. They have all sites available from tent right up to 50 amp full hook-ups. I can't wait for the new season to begin in April!

    Happy Days Campground

Quiet, wooded, natural, lots to do in the area!

We stayed at Happy Days from Friday to Monday with our 21 foot travel trailer. Site P6. Pretty level site. We liked this site and the one next to it the best out of all of the sites. George at the camp store was so helpful and we watched him actively keeping up on and taking care of the campground cleaning, etc. the entire time. Showers had great pressure and bathrooms were super clean. We showered after a Spartan Race Mud Run and they were great. Scenic spot, mature trees, we could hear foxes communicating at night. Firewood available at camp store $7 a bundle. No sewer on sites, but has a dump station. Water pressure at the site was very good. Old school playground for kids, volleyball court. The rec hall had a piano, pool table, ping pong table and more. Close to dining, Kauneonga Lake and Callicoon Farmers Market among others. We will be back!

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Promised Land State Park offers two lakes stocked with bass, pickerel, and trout. "Great river based location (Delaware River)... great for fisherman, hikers also great for tubing down the Delaware or canoeing," notes a visitor to Soaring Eagle Campground.

Water recreation: Many campgrounds feature swimming areas and boat rentals from Memorial Day through Labor Day. At Keen Lake Resort Campground, "Each day we would paddle over to the swimming area on the lake. It was awesome... The kids caught multiple sunnies and even a small perch."

Mountain biking: Blue Mountain Resort transforms winter ski trails into summer biking paths with lift service. "If you choose adventure this is the place for you, ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Many campers appreciate the larger sites available at certain campgrounds near Clarks Summit. At Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort, visitors note the "grounds are well kept and rather large open field type camping with trees all around the outside."

Clean facilities: Bathhouse cleanliness ranks high in visitor reviews. "The bathrooms were the cleanest we've ever experienced at a campground," mentions one reviewer at Keen Lake Resort, while another camper at Blue Mountain observed "bathrooms are all immaculate and a shower is available just reserve your time."

Organized activities: Many family-oriented campgrounds schedule regular events. "They have activity coordinators that make sure there is something to do for all ages every hour of the day," reports a seasonal camper at Keen Lake Resort.

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Several campgrounds in forested areas have spotty connectivity. At Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South, "the cell service for most providers is practically non-existent... Verizon is 25 down 10 up. Tmobile is unusable."

Seasonal variations: Campground amenities change significantly between seasons. "Fall months bring increased demand for RV sites across the Pocono region," with one camper noting, "We came in at end of season, so pretty much everything seems closed. But, it's a beautiful campground."

Water quality concerns: Some lakes develop seasonal algae issues. At Frances Slocum State Park, a visitor warned, "DO NOT take your pups to the water. There is a weird bacteria or algae currently growing in the lake, it's completely visible. There are advisories around about it too."

Tips for camping with families

Pool alternatives: When looking for swimming options beyond lakes, consider campgrounds with dedicated swimming facilities. At Pine Valley RV Park & Campground, "From boating, to giant swimming inflatables, putt putt even a giant slide. All part of the price of the campground."

Weekend vs. weekday visits: For quieter family experiences, consider weekday stays. "We have been there on busy holiday weekends where it was full but still peaceful and private with a great community of campers and on weekdays and off weekends when it felt as if I had the river to myself."

Tent site selection: Not all sites accommodate tents well. At Frances Slocum State Park Campground, a camper reported, "The site we stayed on was a swamp! It was terrible, I called the park office and they assured me the site was fine for tents it was NOT. Plenty of other great sites but several butt up against standing water."

Tips from RVers

Site spacing considerations: RV sites at most campgrounds vary in size and proximity. A visitor to Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South observed, "The sites are long but narrow. Best water pressure I have seen on the east coast, unregulated it's over 80 psi."

Off-season benefits: Some rv campgrounds near Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania remain open year-round with reduced amenities. At Thousand Trails Scotrun, "Simple Campground - nice lay out albeit as with many campgrounds, the spaces are quite close together. With a sparse population in the winter, it made for a great spot for a work stay."

Leveling challenges: Many Pocono rv campgrounds feature slightly uneven terrain. "We had site 44 in the Stony Point loop and it was by far the largest campsite on the property," notes a visitor to Frances Slocum State Park, while another camper mentioned, "Fire pit area was very un-level for camping chairs, otherwise it's a nice wooded site with privacy."
