    Tent camping

Well we did not know that when tent camping you can only stay two weeks we were originally told we could stay as long as we wanted as long as we moved and did not stay in a spot more than 7 days. Not a bad campground just don't like the two week stay rule. Plus my cat loves it. There is a natural that can be walked, a dog park, swimming pool, also a place to throw disc golf disc's.

    Waterloo County Park

It’s good for family and during fishing.

It’s dog friendly with a dog park. During the week is better just because of younger groups who like loud music and some late nights.

    Hebo Lake Campground

    My favorite place

My absolute favorite place to camp in Oregon!!!! Always clean, quite, peaceful, and just perfect!!!! The fishing is always great and when the onshore flow comes over the trees, it's nothing short of a miracle and magic.

    The Willamettans

    Nude family resort

Almost all of my reviews are based on hiking. If the place offers hiking the review is better for us.

This camp offers do much more! They have one of the cleanest swimming areas around!

While there are trails in the resort, the really good longer ones are on forest service land. You can walk from the resort, do a nice hike (keep some clothing at hand) of up to six miles and return with out any issues.

They also have tennis, pickleball, dog park, restaurant, library and a wonderful staff.

You are close to Springfield/Eugene for groceries and etc.

We are a pack of four.

    Pleasant Valley RV Park

It was ok, some good, some bad

The park was clean and it had a nice dog park for our dog to run in. There were rabbits all over the park which was fun to watch.

The showers and laundry were clean as well. Tmobile was nonexistent in the area and Wifi from the park was abysmal. There are a lot of full time residences here but they were all very friendly.

    Waterloo County Park

    Waterloo County Campground

Great campground with hookups and active camp host. Firewood available onsite. Nicest restrooms and showers I’ve seen in any campground! The A Loop is more for smaller campers while the B Loop is better suited for the big rigs. Lots of activities including hiking, geocaching? Fisk golf, volleyball, fishing, swimming, and children’s playground and dog park. ADA handicapped accessible campsites available.

    Definitely great spot

Absolutely loved this place! I definitely suggest making a reservation our rv Neighboors let us know that they have to book a year in advance. We are traveling through Oregon just camping with two adult 2children and our dog. They were pet friendly and all of the staff were extremely nice! There are multiple spots right on the river which we were lucky enough to snag even though it was last minute.

Guide to Independence

Silver Falls State Park Campground near Independence, Oregon accommodates pets and provides access to numerous hiking trails through old-growth forests. Located 30 miles east of Independence at 1,400 feet elevation, the park remains accessible year-round with heaviest visitation during summer months. Winter camping offers quieter surroundings but requires preparation for wet conditions on trails.

What to do

Hiking the waterfall circuit: Silver Falls State Park features a network of trails suitable for various skill levels. "This is a very family friendly camp ground, so watch out for all the RVs and kids on bikes. But once you are out on the trail it gets peaceful and picturesque," notes Andrea M. at Silver Falls State Park Campground.

Play areas for children: Families appreciate the recreational facilities available at several campgrounds. "We love hiking the trails and our kids love the playground and river swimming!" reports April F. about her experience at Silver Falls State Park Campground.

Bike the scenic pathways: The paved trails around Champoeg State Heritage Area Campground provide excellent cycling opportunities. "Champoeg State Park is on the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway, and a great place to camp if you want to do a long biking getaway," writes Stephanie Z.

Historical exploration: Visit the pioneer exhibits at Champoeg State Heritage Area for educational experiences. "I walked the path around the entire park, which took me about 3 hours. Along the way got to see the Champoeg Heritage site with period piece actors," explains Ashley B.

What campers like

Clean shower facilities: Many pet owners appreciate well-maintained bathroom facilities after outdoor activities. "Bathrooms and showers are super nice and clean. Roads and campsites are paved and level. Short drive or hike to the falls," reports Richard H. about Silver Falls State Park Campground.

Indoor amenities for extended stays: Some RV parks offer indoor recreational spaces for rainy days. "Been here several months and has been a pleasure. Great staff. Multiple Laundry Rooms, heated indoor pool, recreation area indoors. Hour from the coast, hour from ski areas and plenty to do in and around Albany," notes Dennis H. about Blue Ox RV Park.

Yurt accommodations: For pet owners seeking alternatives to traditional camping, some parks offer comfortable yurt options. "Last summer I rented a yurt at Premier RV Resorts, Salem OR, and I can't wait to stay there again! We had a darling porch with bbq and picnic table, Keurig coffee maker, 2 bedrooms, dining table and living room too! Cable tv as well," shares K L.

Affordability options: Budget-conscious campers with pets can find economical options. "A pretty good deal at $25 a night," writes Theresa R. about her stay at Polk County Fairgrounds.

What you should know

Weather impacts: Trails and camping conditions at Silver Falls State Park vary significantly with weather. "THE most beautiful park in Oregon that we've seen! Hiked for 5 hours! BEWARE: It's WET, so bring your wet weather gear, and good, sturdy hiking shoes for slippery terrain," advises Melissa L.

Site selection considerations: Research specific site numbers when booking at Silver Falls State Park for optimal placement. "I'd try to reserve spots 9 or 12 (next to the playground and sunny spots) or 72 (next to the creek in the shade) next time! We rate this one an 8," recommends Melissa L.

Pet policies vary by trail: Not all trails allow dogs, requiring advance planning for pet owners. "The campgrounds are nice. The hike is amazing and beautiful though most of the trails are closed to dogs," points out Krystle K. at Silver Falls State Park.

Wildlife presence: Campers should secure food properly at Knox Butte RV Park. "There is an early morning train. I am a sound sleeper so didn't hear it but my wife did and didn't sleep very well," notes Scott D., highlighting potential noise considerations.

Tips for camping with families

Dog exercise areas: When traveling with pets and children, dedicated spaces for animals help maintain harmony. "This is a gorgeous state park, absolutely worth the visit even if you're just coming to the day use area. There's a nice off leash dog area, but it's not fenced in, so heads up on that," advises Laura M. about Silver Falls State Park.

Cabin alternatives: Families with pets may prefer cabins during wet seasons. "The cabins are small but comfortable with heat, lights, and beds. Covered porch is nice to sit and listen to the rain," shares Jeff K. about Silver Falls State Park Campground.

Campground layout awareness: Understanding the physical layout helps with site selection for families with pets. "What Champoeg is lacking is atmosphere. Since you're in the valley, the campground is mostly just flat land with very little tree cover. You'll definitely be able to see your neighbors whether you're in the tent or RV area," explains Stephanie Z.

Storage planning: Food storage requires extra attention at some campgrounds. "Stayed here just to wake up and hike the 9 miles and see the 10 waterfalls. The spot we had was right next to the road, so it was loud and also there were birds everywhere. We had to pack the car before bed so they wouldn't get to the food," warns Vanesa W.

Tips from RVers

Site width considerations: RVers with larger vehicles should research site dimensions when traveling with pets. "Very nice park. The staff was excellent. The spaces are a bit to close for me. No shade," reports Kimberly E. about Premier RV Resort.

Highway proximity: Several pet-friendly campgrounds near Independence are close to roadways. "Near I-5 yet no traffic noise. The park is very clean. The restrooms and laundry facilities are spotless. Their WiFi is also excellent. Very easy access to and from I-5," observes Michael C. about Knox Butte RV Park.

Extended-stay options: Some locations offer monthly options for longer pet-friendly stays. "Stayed here for 3 months. Great safe RV park with pool, clean showers, paved sites. Dog park less than 1 mile. Awesome staff!" shares Kristie M. about Blue Ox RV Park.

Sewer connection specifics: RVers should note sewer connection types at Premier RV Resort. "The sewer connections are not threaded, so you'll have to weigh down your sewer hose," notes Ray & Terri F., providing practical information for arrival preparation.
