Golf activities: On The River Golf & RV Resort provides a unique camping experience with on-site golfing. "They have a 6 hole 3 par golf course. The course and grounds are kept with fountains and beautiful flowers. Lots of sites with full hookups including sewer. Back in and pull through sites available. Miles of walking trails and a river for tubing or fishing off the docks," says Brose' Family V.
Drive-in movies: Hi-Way Haven RV Park offers a unique entertainment option. "Drive in with your sweetie while camping, BBQ and drinks, dog park with some Frisby golf. Man life don't get much better then this. Just like back in the day but better!" shares Kelly H. The park shows movies Thursday through Saturday nights during summer months on their original drive-in theater screen.
What campers like
Indoor amenities: Seven Feathers RV Resort provides resort-style facilities uncommon in the area. "This rv park is quiet for the number of spaces. There is a covered pool and hot tub building with a fitness club/room. There is a separate building with several showers, bathrooms and laundry. Everything is super clean. The sites are paved and level," reports Darcy K.
River access: Many campers appreciate the waterfront locations available at camping facilities near Glendale. "About 1/3 of the campsites are adjacent to the Rogue river and all of the others have a view of the river. The Wi-Fi is acceptable, they have cable TV, full hook ups and well maintained property. The other campers are mostly travelers and respectful. Nothing negative to experience," explains Jeff M.
Pet-friendly options: Dog owners particularly value the dedicated pet areas at Sunny Valley Campground. "Safe, family campground with a nice shop, pool, restroom. You can rent a cabin, wagons, or a campground. There's also a dog park, which my dog loved!" writes Andrea M. Multiple campgrounds in the region feature fenced dog areas that allow pets to run off-leash.
What you should know
Seasonal considerations: Sunny Valley Campground operates from March through October with 51 sites. "Very nice with tent, cabin, and RV sites. Our site was partial HU but they do have full HU sites. Bathrooms and showers were clean. It's close to I-5 bit the road noise was not bad and a chorus of frogs throughout the evening distracts from it," reports Stacy.
Road noise: Several campgrounds are situated near I-5 and experience varying levels of highway noise. "The campground is right off a highly traveled hwy without and natural barrier to prevent road noise. The sites are pretty close to one another. Still a good place for the night," mentions Dawn about Douglas County Fairgrounds RV Park.
Capacity limitations: Riverfront sites fill quickly during summer months at Riverpark RV Resort. "Looking for a stop-over camp. This RV Park is well-kept and located conveniently near Interstate 5. It is great stop over for access to Crater Lake, Bend, or points north. All sites are paved and have full hook-ups. Is adjacent to EXPO fairgrounds," notes Louise L.
Tips for camping with families
Swimming options: On The River Golf & RV Resort provides water activities for children. "A hidden gem. We were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful and peaceful this campground was when we stayed there with our three kids. Beautiful fall colors, and lush mature trees at every site. The grounds are kept beautifully and the sites along the river have gorgeous grassy fire pits," shares Isaac K.
Playground access: Some campgrounds feature dedicated play areas for younger campers. "This park is extremely well run, with immaculate bathrooms and well groomed sites. Sites have concrete pad, fire pit and table with FHU. An easy off of Highway 5 and close to Costco and many restaurants. Small lake/pond with walking trail around and extra large Dog Park," notes Rhoda G.
Nearby attractions: Wildlife Safari is located a short drive from Rising River RV Resort. "Beautiful, quiet and family friendly RV park right on the S. Umpqua River, just minutes from Wildlife Safari! Would absolutely recommend one of the river sites! Staff is amazing, the park itself is pristine! It's also safe with gates that automatically close at 6pm every night," explains Sara H.
Tips from RVers
Hookup details: Southern Oregon RV Park provides full-service connections for larger rigs. "Just did an overnight stay was easy check in paved and easy for my wife to move around in a walker," reports Kevin F. Most sites are level with full hookups, making setup relatively simple for newcomers.
Overnight vs. extended stays: Several campgrounds differentiate between overnight and longer stays. "I wouldn't want to come here to camp as a destination but it's a great stopover point while traveling on I5. Sites are fully paved and very well maintained. Bathrooms are very clean as well. I will definitely stay here again as we pass through," shares Troy L.
Cash requirements: Some RV sites near Glendale operate on cash-only systems. "Make sure you bring cash, they don't take cards. Which wasn't a big deal, they also gave us a discount for the week. This is a nice family run park and it will definitely go on our 'save for next summer' list," advises Brose' Family V.
