Best RV Parks & Resorts near Banks, OR

Several RV parks surround Banks, Oregon, providing convenient access to both Portland and the Oregon coast. Scappoose RV Park, located 20 miles northwest of Banks, offers year-round full hookup sites with 30/50 amp service and accommodates big rigs on spacious concrete pads. Bayport RV Park in Warren features pull-through sites with water and electric hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. Columbia River RV Park in Portland provides full hookups with 50 amp service and is equipped for larger motorhomes with wide interior roads. Portland-area RV parks typically offer stronger WiFi connections than those in more rural settings near Banks. Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Walk to Haystack Rock

Just east of Hwy 101 in Cannon Beach, this RV resort is an easy (really!) 10 minute walk to the beach, just north of Haystack Rock. A sidewalk underpass under 101 and a path through a small city park makes it a family-friendly, dog-friendly walk to the outstanding beach sunsets. A bit longer walk (or easy bike ride) takes you into the heart of Cannon Beach with all the restaurants, ice cream shops, galleries, coffee shops and candy stores. Campground is open year round, has full hook-ups, good wifi, well managed and maintained, has an indoor pool and hot tub (pool facility was closed during covid, check on availability) decent bath houses (also closed during covid), nice sites with lots of tall trees. They also sell propane, firewood and have a gas station. (And they even have an electric car charging station, if you need it) Fun fact: In the winter months you will likely see the local elk herd around town. Note: no tents allowed and our ATT service only has one bar at our site. Would definitely recommend this place for RV camping.

    Columbia River RV Park

Basic Nice RV Park Right in Portland

Located at the northern end of Portland not too far off the 1-5 freeway. RV campground with wide streets, nice office staff, and clean facilities including laundry, clubhouse, group kitchen area and free wi-fi. Grass in-between most spots, with some back-in sites and others being pull-through. Backs up to a busy road blocked by large bushes and under the pathway for the airport, so there's some noise but not horrible. Some full-times but sites are nice and well maintained. Overall nice, clean and well maintained large RV site within the Portland city limits.

    Premier RV Resort

    Nice CG, but small sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 57 for 4 days in mid September. Very friendly staff. The CG is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG. Also, our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV. The sewer connections are not threaded, so you’ll have to weigh down your sewer hose. There is a fair bit of road noise from the highway. There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog. AT&T coverage was fair, ranging from 2-4 bars of 5G with speeds up to 19 MB/s. The CG WiFi speed varied considerably, from next to useless up to 1 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 11 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Circle Creek RV Park & Campground

Dog friendly open space near Seaside

Large RV campground just south of town. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Dog friendly including a fenced off dog run! The pups were happy to stretch their legs. Clean bathrooms and warm showers. Laundry on site. We stayed on the grass over in boondock side. Level sites. If you need power/water...those sites looked large and had decent amount of space between. We showed up after office hours and we’re still able to snag a spot.

    Toutle River RV Resort

    I5 access

We stayed 3 nights at Toutle River RV Resort now owned by RV Inn Style chain. Quiet and respectful campers with paroling friendly staff. I5 access is perfect, although road and train noise could be bothersome for some campers as the campground is nestled in between. The camp store and pool were open. The playground, disk golf and basketball hoops accessible but the pickle ball courts had been removed since we last visited. Sites range from open to treed with many of the pick nick tables needing refurbished. Full hookups with gravel pads for 70+$$ per night. WiFi isn’t free, must be purchased. We had spotty cell service with Verizon though we were directly off I5 corridor. The public restrooms were clean, but mostly under construction while we were camping. Many full timers w/park models and trailer/RV’s sprinkled throughout the park. All-in-all we will stay here again in the future and happy to do so.

Close to town biking or walking. Nice well kept grounds. Cable tv hookups WiFi (although not very robust) Ethernet jacks at power posts, so you could make your own WiFi I guess. Reeder Beach RV Park & Country Store

    1 Night Stopover

I was worried when Google maps brought me through the industrial section of Portland, but relieved when I crossed the bridge to the Island. Check in was fast and efficient. Can't say the staff was friendly or welcoming, Full hookups, but I don't rate it higher because there is no wifi or laundry facilities. There is also nothing around here store or restaurant wise. I enjoyed the beach and watching the ships pass by. I had good cell service. Riverside back in sites are the best. Pull through provide shade

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Elk Bugles and Chuckles

Tucked away in the trees of Cannon Beach is this nice little RV Resort. All amenities were top notch for your needs at a park. The Elk greeted us and were eating all the flowers as we entered. Gas station, propane, laundry, showers, convenience store, pool and two shower/restroom facilities. Paved parking spots with fire pit, picnic tables and full hookup.

Silver Spur RV Park & Resort

    Not terrible.

I ended up here last minute due to weather on the Oregon coast. I’m in a 40’ coach. It’s a very well kept RV park, a lot of long term residents were here. The office is very nice, the lawns are very nice, the office parking lot is asphalt. Has a nice little children’s play area. There are very bumpy gravel driveways to the RV parking spots (possibly just the time of year causing the poor road condition). The RV spaces are very easy to get into being angled. We stayed in a pull through space, easy in and easy out. Only giving a 4star rating for the very small RV spaces. Was very crammed for anything more than a last minute stay.

Summer temperatures average 75-85°F during the day, dropping to the 50s at night, while winter brings frequent rainfall with daytime temperatures in the 40s. Most RV campgrounds in the Banks region offer water and electric hookups, with several sites accepting campers year-round despite seasonal weather variations.

What to do

Water recreation: Water activities are abundant near the Columbia River. At Bayport RV Park and Campground in Warren, kayaking is a popular activity. "Located right next to a public boat ramp and Next Adventure where you can rent boats... or bring your own for kayaking on Scappoose Bay," notes Ed B. The marina on-site provides direct water access.

Urban exploration: Portland's attractions are within easy reach. Jantzen Beach RV Park offers a convenient base for city visits. "The park's location is very convenient, with easy access to downtown Portland and nearby attractions," says Faiz A. The park sits on Hayden Island, providing a strategic location for exploring the Portland metropolitan area.

Waterfront walks: Enjoy riverside pathways. Multiple campgrounds feature walking trails along the water. McKenna & Genee P. mention that at Bayport RV Park, "Beautiful walking paths line the water." These paths allow campers to explore the shoreline while staying close to their campsite.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness ranks high with campers. At Portland Fairview RV Park, multiple reviewers noted the well-maintained grounds. "Nice, clean park. Very large and busy but has nice amenities," writes Chris and Kate H. Deborah R. adds, "The park is beautiful the bathrooms and showers are clean."

Convenience to towns: Easy access to urban amenities. Campers appreciate RV parks with nearby shopping and dining options. At Clackamette RV Park, Mary F. notes it's "conveniently located right off of 205 and close to a lot of amenities in the suburbs of Portland." This allows campers to enjoy both outdoor recreation and urban conveniences.

Swimming pools: Some parks offer swimming facilities. Certain RV campgrounds feature pools for guest recreation. One reviewer at Jantzen Beach RV Park mentioned "the heated pool and walking paths along the Columbia River were nice touches that relaxed my stay." These additional amenities provide recreational options beyond standard camping facilities.

What you should know

Age restrictions: Some parks limit older RVs. Certain campgrounds near Banks enforce RV age policies. Becky S. shares about Roamers Rest RV Park: "They also have RV age limit of 2010 but they allowed pictures before turning me down. Yay we got approved!" Always check age restrictions before booking.

Water pressure varies: Low pressure reported at some sites. At Jantzen Beach RV Park, Jennifer H. notes, "Water pressure is the lowest we've ever experienced. Not sure what's going on but all of the folks we've talked to are experiencing the same." Consider bringing a water pressure regulator.

Long-term residents: Many parks have permanent or semi-permanent guests. Columbia River RV Park has a mix of short-term and long-term campers. "Some full-times but sites are nice and well maintained," reports Brian C. This creates a neighborhood-like atmosphere at many parks.

Highway noise: Some campgrounds experience traffic sounds. Parks located near major roads may have noticeable highway noise. At Scappoose RV Park, Tim C. cautions: "Worst camping experience of my life. Noisy. Highway and airport. It's terrible." Check site maps before booking to avoid areas closest to roads.

Tips for camping with families

Look for playgrounds: Select parks with kid-friendly facilities. Parks with play areas keep children entertained. Brian C. recommends Jantzen Beach RV Park: "Kids especially loved the pools and playground." The multiple recreational facilities make it suitable for family stays.

Consider pet policies: Most parks allow pets but have specific rules. Columbia River RV Park receives positive reviews for its pet amenities. "The park has two off-leash dog areas," says C H., making it convenient for families traveling with dogs. Always verify pet policies and any breed restrictions before arrival.

Check for safe walking paths: Walkability matters with children. Bayport RV Park gets praise for its accessibility. "Location is close to town but still feels like you are in your own little world. Beautiful walking paths line the water," shares McKenna & Genee P., highlighting the safety of dedicated walking areas.

Evaluate bathroom facilities: Clean restrooms are essential with kids. Look for parks with well-maintained bathrooms. At Portland Fairview RV Park, Deborah R. simply states, "The bathrooms and showers are clean," which is particularly important for family camping trips.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Check site sizes before booking. At Cannon Beach RV Resort, Misty Z. advises, "Good angles for backing in. However, inner loops you have a neighbor front, back and sides. You can hear too much because they are fairly close." Request outer spots for more space when available.

Utility reliability: Electricity quality varies between parks. Seasoned RVers pay attention to power stability. "The power was rock solid," reports Misty Z. about Cannon Beach RV Resort, noting that consistent power is crucial for RV systems.

Dumping options: Not all parks offer on-site dump stations. Kevin D. mentions that at Bayport RV Park, "Sewer dump station costs $15 per use." Understanding dump station availability and fees helps with trip planning and budgeting.

Reservation timing: Book well in advance for popular locations. For busy parks like Cannon Beach RV Resort, Misty Z. suggests: "This place stays fairly full so reserve in advance to get an outer spot." Many RV campgrounds near Banks, Oregon fill quickly, especially during summer months.
