Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday offers full RV hookups with both 50-amp and 30-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Sites accommodate larger rigs with pull-through access available for easier positioning. Alton RV Park provides big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups in a more compact setting. "This place has the nicest people working and they work so hard to keep it beautiful. New showers and bathrooms, new laundromat, new and improved process to get to your spot, and very safe," noted one camper about Alton RV Park. Love's RV Hookup locations in Bellefontaine and Lancaster offer convenient overnight stays with electric (both 50-amp and 30-amp), water connections, and dump stations specifically designed for travelers needing a quick stopover.

Several RV parks near Powell maintain seasonal operating schedules, with Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort open year-round while Sunset Springs operates from May through mid-October. Dump station availability varies significantly between locations, with some parks offering multiple stations and others having limited facilities. According to one visitor at Alum Creek State Park, "Only ONE little dump station. This is a big campground, so if you're leaving Sunday, you better get up at the crack of dawn to get to the station, otherwise be prepared to wait in a long long line of RVs." Most parks maintain good cell service coverage throughout the camping areas, though Wi-Fi quality can be inconsistent during peak usage periods. Pet policies are generally accommodating with designated dog areas at several locations, though some enforce breed or size restrictions.

      Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

      River Trail Crossing

      Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

      Cross Creek Camping Resort

      Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

      Berkshire Campgrounds

      Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

      Tree Haven Campground

      Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

      Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

      Kiser Lake State Park Campground

      Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

    Guide to Powell

Powell, Ohio RV campgrounds sit in the rolling hills of Delaware County, where summer temperatures average 85°F and winter lows reach 20°F. Most campgrounds in the area operate from April through October, though a few remain open year-round. The region features several small lakes and is within a 30-minute drive of both Alum Creek State Park and the Scioto River.

    What to do

Kayaking on Kokosing Lake: Visitors to Kokosing River Campground enjoy paddling on the calm waters. "Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful," notes camper Mark B., who visited during Labor Day weekend.

Biking the B&O Trail: Access the paved biking trail directly from River Trail Crossing campground. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit," shares Bob M., who stayed at a riverfront spot for four nights.

Family games at the campground: Many Powell area campgrounds organize seasonal activities. "They had a pot luck and then live music, which was good enough being a free event," reports Robert T. about his stay at Sunset Springs, where weekend events kept kids occupied throughout the day.

    What campers like

Peaceful lake settings: Campers appreciate the quiet surroundings at many Powell area campgrounds. "Beautiful lake, nice and quiet. Lots of waterfowl," writes Shelly S. about her September visit to Kokosing River Campground.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained restrooms and showers rank high on campers' lists. "Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available," shares Brian E. about River Trail Crossing, adding that the owners are friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed.

Family-friendly amenities: Visitors with children appreciate the range of activities. "Kids aged 3-13 all had a blast in the heated pool, on the jump pad and on the zip line swing!" reports Jennifer K. about her stay at Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday during a rainy July weekend.

    What you should know

Site spacing varies: Some RV parks offer spacious sites while others are more compact. At Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday, Gary G. notes, "This is a hugely spaced out camp with ample space to each site and great amenities for kids & dogs. Immaculate and well run."

Seasonal operation: Most campgrounds close during winter months. Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort remains open year-round, while Sunset Springs operates from May 1 to October 15.

Leveling considerations: Not all sites are perfectly level. "There's a few sites are unlevel so you may need to use your levelers and maybe some blocks, we did," advises Gary G. about his stay at Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Look for campgrounds with multiple recreation options. "We enjoyed our stay. Peaceful and great for kids. Kayaking on the lake is great," shares Mark B. about Kokosing River Campground.

Pool availability: Several campgrounds offer swimming facilities, but check seasonal opening dates. "The pool and splash pad were well kept and very clean," notes Daniel C. about Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday.

Privacy considerations: For families wanting more seclusion, some campgrounds offer wooded sites. "Areas in the back woods are quite nice and very treed. Quite private but a long walk to the 'town' which is where most of the activities are," explains Gary G. about Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort.

    Tips from RVers

Wi-Fi quality: Internet access varies significantly between campgrounds. At Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday, one RVer reports, "Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5G) seems good throughout the entire park. Best Wi-Fi I've ever had at a campground. They have Wi-Fi repeater towers everywhere you look."

Alternative stopover options: For quick overnight stops, consider Love's RV Hookup in Bellefontaine. "A little loud at times. Hardee's restaurant is a different option for meals," notes Brad H. about this convenient location with basic amenities.

Neighborhood access: Some campgrounds offer convenient shopping nearby. Morgan F. describes Alton RV Park as "Not a sightseeing destination, but very convenient place to stop for the night if you're on a road trip doing a lot of driving. Safe neighborhood with a Kroger right down the street."
