      Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

      Cross Creek Camping Resort

      Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

      Berkshire Campgrounds

      Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

      Tree Haven Campground

      Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

      Kiser Lake State Park Campground

      Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

      Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

    Guide to Plain City

Plain City, Ohio camping areas offer a range of recreational opportunities within a largely agricultural landscape. The area sits at approximately 950 feet elevation with gently rolling terrain that includes woodland patches and several water features. Seasonal variation affects campground availability, with many facilities reducing operations during winter months while maintaining year-round RV accommodations.

    What to do

Fishing at Delaware State Park: The 1,300-acre lake provides multiple fishing access points for anglers seeking largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. "We launched our kayaks and had a great time paddling around the lake. Be aware that there is no horsepower limits for boats on the lake and weekends are very popular for anglers in high-powered bass boats," notes a visitor to Delaware State Park Campground.

Kayaking and canoeing: Several parks offer water recreation with varying regulations on motor usage. "The northern portion of the lake is a 'no wake zone' which makes for a more pleasant paddling environment," explains a Delaware State Park visitor, while another camper at Kokosing River Campground mentions, "Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful."

Disc golf at park facilities: Several campgrounds maintain 18-hole courses suitable for beginners and experienced players alike. "The campground is setup in a nice layout with each of the separate sections having a spoke and wheel layout with a bathhouse in the middle," explains a Delaware State Park reviewer who appreciated the recreational layout.

    What campers like

Spacious, private sites: Many campgrounds provide good site separation despite proximity to urban areas. A camper at Poor Farmer's Campground appreciated that it's "Clean family oriented and spacious. Well run facility w good restrooms and showers plus electri hook up per site. Out in farm country so very little light pollution overall."

Clean facilities: Bathhouses and common areas receive consistent maintenance at most locations. "The bathhouse was clean, and well lit," notes a visitor to Poor Farmer's Campground, while a Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday camper reported, "Immaculate and well run. Late check in was easy, requests were honored."

Family-friendly activities: Organized weekend events provide entertainment beyond natural surroundings. "They have a pool and boasts clean, well-maintained facilities," says a camper about Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort, while another noted it has "swimming pool, putt putt, and other child friendly activities... also has small fishing pond."

    What you should know

Seasonal operation schedules: Many rv sites near Plain City, Ohio operate on limited schedules. Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday runs from May through November, with one visitor noting, "Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5G) seems good throughout the entire park. Best Wi-Fi I've ever had at a campground. They have Wi-Fi repeater towers everywhere you look."

Dump station timing: Plan accordingly when using communal facilities. A reviewer at Delaware State Park observed the practical reality of weekend departures: "Att works good here verizion not so much but at night when people are sleeping verizion gets a little better."

Campground personalities vary: Each location maintains distinct rules and atmospheres. "The campground is mainly seasonal campers and all seemed very welcoming and nice," noted one visitor to Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds, continuing "We camped Labor Day weekend so I don't know if it's all the time or not but while we were there they did a hog roast corn hole tournaments and some kind of 50/50 raffle every day."

    Tips for camping with families

Look for designated play areas: Many campgrounds feature dedicated children's facilities. "This is a hugely spaced out camp with ample space to each site and great amenities for kids & dogs," said a Sunbury/Columbus North KOA visitor, while another mentioned, "Kids aged 3-13 all had a blast in the heated pool, on the jump pad and on the zip line swing!"

Consider seasonal weekends: Special event weekends provide additional entertainment. "We were there for the Halloween weekend and it was amazing," shared a Cross Creek Camping Resort camper. Another visitor noted, "They also have themed-event weekends, which are really fun!"

Check water features: Lakes and streams offer natural play spaces. At Kokosing River Campground, a camper observed, "Nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground. Wasn't crowded when we visited in Sep... Beautiful lake, nice a quiet. Lots of waterfowl," while another mentioned, "Peaceful and great for kids."

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Several rv sites near Plain City, Ohio may need additional equipment. "The site is not level and our leveling system has the front wheels off the ground," noted a Cross Creek camper, while another mentioned, "Some sites sit on slight inclines but not all. Our camper, a 5th wheel was a real pain setting up."

Limited RV hookup availability: The Love's RV Hookup locations provide basic overnight accommodations with restrictions. "A little loud at times. Hardee's restaurant is a different option for meals," mentions a visitor to the Bellefontaine location.

Check propane availability: Not all campgrounds offer refill services. Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort gets positive reviews for ease of access: "Easy in and out pull-through, level sites, Tomorrow Stars Campground guarantees a hassle-free experience for travelers."
