Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lewis Center, OH

Several RV campgrounds surround Lewis Center, with Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday offering 50/30-amp electric hookups, water, and sewer connections on mostly level sites. Delaware State Park Campground provides 212 electric-only sites that accommodate large RVs, with some sites extending over 90 feet in length. Cross Creek Camping Resort features full hookup sites with 50-amp service in a shaded environment, while Alum Creek State Park Campground has both electric-only and full hookup options with paved pads. "The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly."

Dump stations are available at Delaware and Alum Creek State Parks, though weekend departures often create long lines at Alum Creek's single facility. Cell service varies between parks, with most reporting good Verizon coverage and multiple OTA television channels. Many parks operate seasonally, with Sunbury KOA open May through November, while Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort remains open year-round. Reservations are recommended during summer months and fall weekends when local attractions draw crowds. Pet policies differ between facilities, with most private RV parks permitting dogs while some state park areas have restrictions. Road access to most parks accommodates large motorhomes and fifth wheels, though narrow interior roads at Cross Creek can make navigation challenging for larger rigs.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

    Delaware State Park Campground

    Nice Ohio State Park

This state park spans over 2,000 acres and is just north of the cute Ohio town of Delaware. We stayed here for two nights while visiting friends in the area but wished we would have stayed to enjoy all that the park had to offer. The campground was really nice and quiet when we stayed there which was during the week and in the spring and not very crowded. We can imagine that this park is pretty full in the summer with all their amenities and close proximity to major Ohio cities.

The 'pod' layout of the campground made for large campsites (some sites are over 90 feet in length and well suited for large RV’s) with good separation between sites. There are 212 sites that have 50 amp electric. The campground also has yurts for rent (May through October) that are furnished with beds, table and chairs, a cooler, ceiling fan, outdoor charcoal grill and a picnic table with canopy. This is a great option for those wanting to stay in something more than a tent but don’t have an RV.

There is no sewer or water at individual sites but there is a dump station and water fill station near the park entrance. Roads and campsites are paved with grassy patios that feature picnic tables and fire pits. The park does not provide wifi but our Verizon hotspot and 4G phone worked well. There are centrally located bath/shower houses with coin-operated laundry facilities.

The park is open year-round and great for outdoor activities; especially, those that are water-related. There are numerous boat launches, fully equipped marina, and swimming area. We launched our kayaks and had a great time paddling around the lake.  Be aware that there is no horsepower limits for boats on the lake and weekends are very popular for anglers in high-powered bass boats. The northern portion of the lake is a “no wake zone” which makes for a more pleasant paddling environment.  If you don’t have a boat, boat rentals are available at the marina.

For those wanting to hike there are plenty of hiking/biking trails for you to get out and explore the park.  Many of the trails link together so you can decide how long you want to hike. The Lakeview Trail was perfect for us as our dog loved jumping in the water during our hike. Other amenities in the park include a nature center, 18-hole disk golf, hunting, archery, volleyball, horse shoe pits, picnic areas, and an 800-foot designated swimming area.  At the camp store/office you can rent bikes as well as other sporting equipment.

If you decide to venture out of the park you are only about 40 miles from downtown Columbus and less than 20 miles to the world-renowned Columbus Zoo (which is definitely worth a visit). The nearby town of Delaware is really nice with downtown shopping, restaurants, a historic theater and brewery (Stass Brewing Company has great Belgian-style beer with a fun atmosphere).

Would definitely camp here again if we were in the area.

Be aware that there is no horsepower limits for boats on the lake and weekends are very popular for anglers in high-powered bass boats. The northern portion of the lake is a 'no wake zone' which makes for a more pleasant paddling environment."

Biking on dedicated trails: River Trail Crossing offers direct access to the paved B&O Trail. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit, we will return," notes one reviewer who appreciated the convenient recreation options.

Swimming in designated areas: Kokosing River Campground offers lake swimming during summer months. "Beautiful lake, nice and quiet. Lots of waterfowl," writes one visitor. Another adds, "Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful."

Storm shelter access: Multiple campgrounds in the area provide safety facilities during severe weather. "I also noticed that they had a nice storm shelter on the property that was well marked and easy to get to from any of the campground areas," notes a Delaware State Park Campground visitor.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Delaware State Park Campground earns praise for its layout. "The best thing about this campground is the fact that all the sites have privacy," writes one camper. Another mentions the "spacious sites" and that "the 'pod' layout of the campground made for large campsites with good separation between sites."

Family activities: Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday offers numerous amenities for children. "Kids aged 3-13 all had a blast in the heated pool, on the jump pad and on the zip line swing!" One camper noted the variety of structured activities: "They had so many activities through the whole Christmas in July weekend, including seeing Santa!"

Wi-Fi connectivity: For those needing to stay connected while camping near Lewis Center, some RV parks offer reliable internet. "Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5G) seems good throughout the entire park. Best Wi-Fi I've ever had at a campground. They have Wi-Fi repeater towers everywhere you look," notes a visitor at Sunbury KOA.

Clean facilities: Cleanliness ranks high in camper reviews. "The campground is very well kept, all sites would have been a good spot to call home for a couple nights," writes one visitor. Another notes, "The pool and splash pad were well kept and very clean."

What you should know

Bathroom variations: Facilities differ significantly between RV parks near Lewis Center. While many offer modern restrooms, some have more rustic options. One camper at Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds notes: "The bathrooms come in two varieties. One is an outhouse type room... and the other is a porta potty... so obviously there's a pretty strong odor."

Seasonal limitations: Most campgrounds in the Lewis Center area operate seasonally. Sunset Springs RV Resort runs from "May 1 to October 15," while River Trail Crossing operates from "May 1 to October 16." Plan accordingly if camping outside peak season.

Site leveling requirements: Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort may require equipment for optimal positioning. "There's a few sites that are unlevel so you may need to use your levelers and maybe some blocks, we did," notes one RVer who stayed at a nearby campground.

Noise considerations: Traffic can impact certain campsites. "State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge," notes a River Trail Crossing visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Storm shelter access: Safety during severe weather is important when camping with children. "A storm was expected and they do have basement shelter available," notes a visitor at Alton RV Park near Lewis Center.

Playground access: Lakeview RV Park and other campgrounds provide recreation options for children. Delaware State Park Campground features "a playground in each of the 4 sections for kids to play."

Nature exploration: Wooded sites offer additional entertainment. "My daughter had tons of fun exploring the woods connected to our site," writes a Delaware State Park visitor, highlighting how natural features can keep children occupied.

Alternative accommodations: For families without camping equipment, some parks offer options. "The campground also has yurts for rent (May through October) that are furnished with beds, table and chairs, a cooler, ceiling fan, outdoor charcoal grill and a picnic table with canopy," notes a Delaware State Park visitor.

Tips from RVers

Hookup variations: Electric service differs between rv campgrounds near Lewis Center. "Sites are close but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly," notes a visitor referring to site layouts at area campgrounds.

Cell service considerations: Coverage varies by provider. "Att works good here, Verizon not so much but at night when people are sleeping Verizon gets a little better," reports one camper at Delaware State Park Campground.

Dump station timing: Plan ahead for departure services. "We did not use the showers, laundry, or pool. Cost was EXCELLENT for a pull through, full hookups, and 50 amp service," notes a visitor at Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort, highlighting the value proposition for RVers.

Site selection strategy: Request alternate sites if necessary. "Pull through we were assigned had very low hanging tree limbs. I called the office and asked if we could use space 41 instead. No problem!" shares an RVer who successfully navigated site selection.
