Best RV Parks & Resorts near Howard, OH

Several RV parks near Howard offer varied accommodations for recreational vehicles. River Trail Crossing in Butler provides full hookup sites including 50-amp service, with water and sewer connections. The park remains open from May through mid-October and includes pull-through sites suitable for larger RVs. Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park accommodates big rigs with 50-amp electrical service and full hookups, operating from April through October. At Evergreen Park RV Resort in Dundee, sites are equipped with electric, water, and sewer connections in a year-round facility that can handle large motorhomes. "Our pull through site was on the (inner) road, so lots of golf carts, cars and campers passing by. The site is not level and our leveling system has the front wheels off the ground."

Many campgrounds in the area feature gravel pads rather than concrete, requiring leveling equipment for comfortable setup. Dump stations are available at most parks, though accessibility varies—Berlin RV Park offers a conveniently located sanitary dump with good access for larger rigs. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, with most parks reporting adequate coverage for basic internet needs. Pet policies differ between facilities; Mohican Adventures allows pets while Kokosing River Campground prohibits them. Seasonal availability becomes limited between November and March when several parks close completely. One camper noted, "The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly," when describing a nearby resort that accommodates larger recreational vehicles.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

    Great fall camping

Dated, but pretty clean bath\shower building with clothes washer and dryer ($2). Sites in C-loop are far enough apart to not feel too crammed together. Power pedestal has 20, 30 and 50 amp service. 30 amp worked fine. Lots of trails, allowing dogs on leash. True, other amenities are a drive of at least a couple miles to get to. ATT service was fine for streaming using ROKU and my phone as a hotspot. Paved, level pads, but not long enough for largest trailers. Check size if you have one. Sites at South end of loop get the most shade

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

Guide to Howard

Campers can expect relatively mild summers with average July highs around 82°F and occasional thunderstorms, while spring and fall camping brings more variable conditions with daytime temperatures between 50-70°F. Most campgrounds in this region sit at elevations between 900-1100 feet above sea level.

What to do

Kayaking on local waterways: At Kokosing River Campground, campers have direct access to Kokosing Lake for water activities. "Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful," notes Mark B., who visited during Labor Day weekend. The lake supports both fishing and paddling with relatively calm waters.

Amish country exploration: The campgrounds near Berlin provide easy access to Amish shopping and cultural experiences. "We enjoyed driving around to the different Amish cheese places," reports Emily from Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park. Many campers use their sites as a base for day trips to explore local Amish businesses and attractions.

Biking on dedicated trails: The River Trail Crossing campground offers direct access to a paved bike trail. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit," writes Bob M. The B&O trail mentioned by reviewers provides a paved surface suitable for casual riders and families.

What campers like

Clean, modern bathrooms: Many campers specifically mention the quality of bathroom facilities. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS," writes Tara T. about her stay at Berlin RV Park & Campground. Each shower at this facility has a locking door and sink, making them more private than typical campground showers.

Family-oriented activities: Whispering Hills Jellystone receives praise for its recreational options. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf," notes Kayla S. The campground organizes scheduled activities for families, particularly during peak summer months and weekends.

Year-round camping options: Unlike many seasonal operations, Evergreen Park RV Resort remains open through winter. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool," shares Andrea F., highlighting the advantage of off-season visits when crowds thin out considerably.

What you should know

Water and electric placement challenges: Some RV sites have hookup configurations requiring extra equipment. "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," explains Earl B. about Scenic Hills RV Park.

No-rug policies: Berlin RV Park & Campground prohibits outdoor ground coverings. "My only complaint (and it's very minor) is that you are not allowed to put any outside rugs down. Their afraid you might kill the grass," notes Kenny C., indicating the campground prioritizes lawn maintenance.

Navigation challenges: GPS directions to some campgrounds can lead RVs down unsuitable roads. When visiting Wally World, Gregory L. warns, "Getting here proved to be tricky, as it seems all of the GPS apps and my Garmin routed us on a county road that is not fit for RVs of any type. To find this place, search for 1 Wally Bridge, Loudonville, OH."

Tips for camping with families

Look for organized activities: Campgrounds like Mohican Adventures offer structured recreation for children. "Amazing campgrounds, with great amenities... So much for the kids to do!" shares Nicole S. Their facilities include playgrounds, organized events, and indoor recreation options for rainy days.

Consider fishing opportunities: Many local campgrounds have stocked fishing ponds accessible to young anglers. Joe F. from Lake Wapusun RV Resort reports, "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. It was catch and release but they were very excited to pull in some big ones."

Check noise policies: Campground enforcement of quiet hours varies significantly in this region. Some locations strictly monitor noise levels while others may have more relaxed approaches, especially during holiday weekends. Reviews indicate family-oriented sites like Kokosing River Campground tend to maintain more consistent quiet hours.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Many RVers note leveling challenges at local campgrounds. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," advises Craig T. about Berlin RV Park. Bringing extra leveling blocks is recommended for most rv campgrounds in Howard, Ohio and surrounding areas.

Winter camping preparation: For cold-weather camping at year-round facilities like Evergreen Park RV Resort, additional preparation is necessary. "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January," mentions Bob R., but RVers should ensure their units are properly winterized with adequate insulation and heating capacity.

Cellular connectivity: Internet access varies across rv campgrounds near Howard, Ohio. Most locations report adequate cell service for basic needs, though signal strength can vary by carrier and specific site location within each campground. Sites farther from main roads may experience reduced connectivity.
