RV parks near Eastlake provide multiple options for recreational vehicle travelers. Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake operates from May 1 to October 15 with full hookup sites including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections for larger rigs. The gravel sites are mostly level with limited shade. "This campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup," noted one visitor. Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake in Jefferson features primarily back-in sites on a park-like setting with two lakes, operating from April through October. Roundup Lake RV Resort accommodates big rigs with pull-through RV pads and offers full hookup capabilities, remaining open slightly longer through October 31.

Most RV campgrounds in this region require advance reservations, particularly for premium full hookup sites during summer weekends when Lake Erie activities draw visitors. Cell service varies considerably between parks, with Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake noted for weaker connectivity. A review mentioned, "Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left." Dump stations are available at nearly all locations, though some have limited spaces causing delays during peak checkout times. Winter camping options are extremely limited, with most parks closing by mid-October. The proximity to Cleveland and interstate highways makes this area convenient for weekend getaways, with many parks located within 30 miles of downtown attractions.

      Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

      Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake

Great spacious park with 2 lakes!

Kenisee Lake RV Resort Thousand Trails in Jefferson, Ohio is a another great Thousand Trails park! This park is very large and has a park-like setting with 2 lakes. There is fishing on the lakes and the campground has rowboats available to use. They have all the amenities a family could want such as swimming pool, playground, mini-golf, and more! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Kenisee Lake has 30 and 50 amp FHU back-in and pull-through sites. The only downside is the internet which is lacking in this area. We have really enjoyed our stay here and will be returning! 👍🏻😬

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

Beautiful campground, choose your site wisely

When we arrived, we checked in at the camp office. The ladies there were very kind. The roads through the campground are wide enough for two-way traffic and nicely paved.

This is a beautiful, heavily treed campground. Even on Memorial Day weekend with lots of people, the park was very peaceful. The sounds of birds permeate the air round the clock. Chipmunks run amok. They’re just so cute.

We booked site 56 for our 39’ fifth wheel. As soon as we pulled up, we knew there was no way we’d fit even though the reservation site said it would accommodate a 40’ rig. The camp hosts happened to be passing by as we were surveying the site. They were very helpful redirecting us to a nearby site that would be more suitable. FYI, sites 55 and 56 have deep culverts on either side. One wrong turn and you’re going to have a problem. The majority of sites along our road were just wide enough to keep the tires out of the dirt, but not wide enough for the stairs to land on asphalt. If you have a motorhome or other wide-bodied rig, like an Alliance Paradigm, I would recommend choosing one of the sites on the loop around the playground. Those are better suited for newer big rigs.

TIP…the line at the dump station is long on the holiday weekends. Plan accordingly.

      West Branch State Park Campground

      Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

      Geneva State Park Campground

      Monster Campsites!

This park has huge campsites ! The pads are paved and they left a section of trees/woods behind each site to provide some privacy between neighbors. The bathrooms are very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The park is directly across the road from the paved bike trail which leads to the beach, marina, lodge and strip area. The trail is dog friendly but the beach is not. The campground is also pet friendly.

      Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

      Punderson State Park Campground

      Excellent Park & Campground!

We have just returned from our first stay at Punderson and have no complaints! Sites are smallish, but clean, mostly level and well kept, as is the camping area in general. There are NO pull-through sites I am aware of. Had a picnic with nearby family at one of the pavilions… again, neat and clean and well taken care of. Very quiet at night, which is something we look for. Firewood for sale on site was a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was lack of strong WIFI, but we have our own uplink. Will definitely return!

    Guide to Eastlake

Camping options near Eastlake, Ohio include both public and private rv campgrounds within a 30-mile radius. This area experiences warm summers with average temperatures around 80°F and cold winters with frequent lake effect snow from Lake Erie. Most campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from May through October, with limited sites available for tent campers compared to RV accommodations.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Perry Township Park offers direct Lake Erie access with boat launches and fishing areas. "There's only a few sites available. The rest are seasonal sites. The campground is adjacent to the small community park and baseball fields. Very well maintained and quiet. As an added bonus it is right next to Lake Erie," notes a Perry Township Park camper.

Water recreation: Kool Lakes Family RV Park features multiple fishing lakes for campers. "Our kids age 4 and 8 fished from sun up Saturday to about noon and then sporadically after that throughout the day. That night we hunted large bull frogs. All catch and release," shares one Kool Lakes visitor.

Disc golf and archery: Punderson State Park offers diverse outdoor activities beyond camping. "Opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming (no lifeguard) and golf," explains a recent visitor, though they note "only a few sites were full hookup."

    What campers like

Quiet, spacious campsites: Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake provides a park-like environment with two lakes. "Kenisee Lake RV Resort Thousand Trails in Jefferson, Ohio is a another great Thousand Trails park! This park is very large and has a park-like setting with 2 lakes. There is fishing on the lakes and the campground has rowboats available to use," reports a Kenisee Lake camper.

Family-friendly activities: Roundup Lake RV Resort offers numerous recreational options for families. "Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!" shares one Roundup Lake visitor.

Farm camping experience: The Farm at Grand River provides a unique camping option with animals and activities. "My 6 year old daughter lived her farm animal dream life for a week! My daughter loved the free movie nights under stars, running wild with the goats, and the play grounds and play houses kept her busy for hours!" explains a visitor to this small 4-site campground.

    What you should know

Cellular connectivity varies: Internet access can be challenging at some Eastlake area rv campgrounds. "Kenisee Lake RV Campground is a wonderful place to work from remotely if you have an external antenna to cellular internet. The campground is clean with plenty of open space and trails," notes a camper, highlighting the need for equipment to boost signals.

Campsite conditions: Many campgrounds feature gravel sites with varying degrees of levelness. "Camp sites are close but shady and large enough for trailer and our truck," reports a Roundup Lake camper, while adding "Only gave a 4 b/c they were out of wood and what wood they had was wet."

Seasonal limitations: Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake operates with restricted dates. "Nice clean and spacious place. Very nice mini golf and good ice cream. Camp store was fully stocked and had the only gas in town. Heated pool is broken so one reason to go was disappointing," mentions one visitor about facility conditions during the operating season.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach and lake activities: Riverview RV Park provides waterfront options for families. "Everyone at this campground is so friendly even the staff is great. The campground has waterfront spots with tree coverage to no tree coverage to close up against one another spot where you can hear your neighbors," shares a Riverview RV Park visitor.

Playground access: Several campgrounds offer dedicated kids' areas. "The park is very nice. Great Lodge. Nice lakes and cabins to rent," notes a Punderson visitor, where the facilities include playgrounds for children.

Bring fishing gear: Multiple campgrounds have fishing ponds ideal for children. "I e been a seasonal camper at Kennisee for 5 years. It's a great place with a lot of events and entertainment for family's. Multiple fishing ponds, Friday night bingo, bands, fishing tournament for kids, duck race," explains a Kenisee's Grand River camper.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Several campgrounds have uneven sites requiring additional equipment. "The lots are not even close the level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground," warns a Punderson State Park visitor.

Campground access: Most RV parks in the Eastlake area have specific operating seasons and entrance procedures. "Gated entry with provided code after payment given. We arrived after dark and had a little trouble finding our spot. Only because it was too easy, lol," shares a camper at Kenisee's Grand River Campground.

Utilities management: Some campgrounds have limited sewer hookups. "This campground does not have sewage and pumps you out twice a week if seasonal and yearly. If you need a pump out it 20$ for emergency situations," explains a Riverview RV Park guest, highlighting the need to plan accordingly.
