Leafy Oaks RV Park and Campground accommodates pets with designated tent sites set back in the woods, offering a peaceful camping experience for dogs and their owners. Crystal Rock Campground, approximately 30 minutes from Cedar Point, maintains clean facilities while welcoming pets throughout their 147 sites. Most campgrounds in the area enforce standard leash policies, typically requiring dogs to be kept on leads no longer than 6 feet when outside RVs or tents. Seasonal operations vary, with Leafy Oaks operating from April 15 to October 15 and Crystal Rock running from April 1 to November 1. The tent camping area at Leafy Oaks features lots of trees and a peaceful setting that dog owners appreciate. Campers note that while the grounds are well-maintained, some sites can be buggy during summer months, so pet owners should bring insect repellent.
Dog-friendly hiking options surround the Clyde area campgrounds, with nearby East Harbor State Park offering pet-accessible trails and shoreline areas. Camp Sandusky provides additional pet amenities including open areas for exercise, though highway proximity creates some noise that light-sleeping pets may notice. Pet waste stations are available at most locations, with campers expected to clean up after their animals. Crystal Rock Campground's family-friendly atmosphere extends to four-legged visitors, with spacious grass sites that provide adequate room for pets to rest beside RVs and tents. Weather considerations include hot summer temperatures, so pet owners should ensure adequate shade and water for dogs, particularly at sites with limited tree cover. The shower houses and bathroom facilities at these campgrounds are regularly cleaned, allowing campers to enjoy basic amenities while traveling with their pets.
"A great campground in Ohio. So clean and so many things to do. Campsites are close together but they do honor quiet hours. Great trail around the lake and a fun and challenging disc golf course."

Alot of campground unfinished, poor wifi, no dog park
Nice park, two fenced dog parks. Bathrooms were clean.
This campground has everything you could want. Kids areas, swimming pond and pool, dog park area and pleasant employees. Will definitly be going back soon!
This campground has been wonderfully updated! The owners have added in an additional playground, dog park, newly paved roadways, newly redone building, a new pavilion, fire pit, and boat parking! We love camping here every chance we get! It is convenient to the turnpike and Cedar Point is just a few miles away!

This is a test area on the Ohio Turnpike. Rv owners can self pay $20 to stay overnight. Quiet area away from the semis and common parking lot, but super close still to the plaza. The plaza offers 5 restaurants and vending machines, a gift shop, and clean restrooms. Sufficient area to exercise pets.
We have stayed here twice and will definitely be back. Both times at the end of September. Nice campground, friendly staff, store is well stocked for anything you may have forgotten. The playground and jump mat for kids is awesome. They usually have some kind of activity for kids on weekends. We travel with 2 large Labrador retrievers and love being able to let them play off leash in the kamp k9 dog park. The sites are a little close together and the train is loud but other than that, it’s a wonderful place to stay. Very close to Cedar Point.
We stayed at this campground in the group camp area. The sites are tight but do provide water and 30 amp electric.
The campground offers a pond for fishing , swimming pool , bounce pad , inflatable lake fun, dog park and mini golf.
Since we were there as a group event we didn’t use any of the extras but it all looked nice and clean plus lots of fun.
Cell coverage was spotty but you could usually get some kind of signal.
The campground has a lot of seasonal sites as well as primitive tent camping and standard rv sites.
This is our second time camping here and both times were for a group camping event. For this type of event it’s a great park. We had a whole sector the event with water and electric sites.
If we were going to camp here on our own I am not sure I would like it since it’s mostly set up for seasonal campers. So there are no hiking trail and there is also a lot of golf cart traffic.
They do offer a swimming pool , pond with inflatable slides , dog park , bound pad and miniature golf.
Camping options near Clyde, Ohio range from state parks to private grounds, with most facilities located within a 30-minute drive. The region experiences hot, humid summers with average July temperatures around 85°F and cold winters that typically limit camping season to April through October. Several campgrounds offer designated pet exercise areas beyond standard leash policies.
Waterfront activities: East Harbor State Park Campground provides direct Lake Erie access with opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife observation. A camper notes, "I enjoy walking to the pond at night and flashlight frogs... It is a great place for birding, fishing, boating and close to marblehead lighthouse and the ferries to take you to Kelley's Island and Put In Bay."
Island exploration: South Bass Island State Park Campground offers a unique camping experience accessible only by ferry. "The island is pretty well known as a party island so we generally only camp here off-season now. There is a lot to see and explore like the caves, the monument in the world famous bars," reports one visitor. Ferry services run April through October with reduced schedules in spring and fall.
Amusement parks: Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point provides camping within walking distance to Cedar Point amusement park. "Walk right into the park or swim park! Literally the best way to stay at Cedar Point!!!" A camper adds that "The campground stay also included early entry passes into the park at 8:45 AM before the opening for regular entry at 10:00 am."
Waterfront views: Kelleys Island State Park Campground offers lakefront sites with scenic views. "A lot of shaded sites and waterfront sites that are right on the water. No city lights and being in the middle of the lake means lots of stars, the sounds of water and being so dark you can barely see," explains a camper. Waterfront tent sites fill quickly during summer months.
Clean facilities: Crystal Rock Campground maintains consistent standards. A reviewer states, "Bathrooms and showers were clean which is always a plus. Wifi reception was also good. Definitely a place to stay if you're fishing Lake Erie or visiting Cedar point."
Large sites: East Harbor sites vary in size and setting. "Very nice campground, it's large so if you're walking around, remember to take a map. The sites vary in size, lots of shade trees where we camped. There are picnic tables and fire rings, some sites have FHUs, some standard electric, and of course, primitive." Site D10 receives specific praise: "Site D10 was massive, had a creek running alongside of it. And was hidden behind lots of trees."
Summer crowds: Pet friendly camping near Clyde, Ohio can get busy, especially at island locations. A South Bass Island camper warns: "The ONLY quiet areas in the campgrounds on the weekends are the cliff tent areas since it is a party island and the young people camping in the interior areas seem to never go to bed."
Transportation considerations: Island campgrounds require planning for vehicle transport. "Access is via ferry. If you chose to leave your car on the mainland (free parking there) & pack in there are multiple sources for golf cart & bike rentals," explains one camper about South Bass Island. Another adds: "If you do take your vehicle over note that the wait time to bring it back on a Sunday while usually 2 to 3 hours can also be up to 6 hours from when you get in line."
Insects: Crystal Rock Campground visitors frequently mention bugs. "Lots of bugs. Bring the spray. The people are very friendly," advises one camper, while another confirms: "good restrooms, pretty location. somewhat remote, but there are a lot of trucks that go by through. definitely bring bugspray!"
Playgrounds and activities: Camp Sandusky offers multiple family amenities. "They have a stellar playground area, I don't have kids but even I was drawn to wanting to play on it," shares one visitor. Another lists: "Amenities for kids: pool, bunnies to feed, park, pedal cars to rent."
Site selection: Consider specific areas within larger campgrounds for families. At East Harbor, "The key is site selection... we happened to be in section C which was a newer section of the park. Section C was nice, though in hot sunny days there is very little shade to protect you. The other sections of the park have tall shade trees that work out great."
Cabin options: For families not committed to tent camping, multiple sites offer alternative accommodations. "The cabins are spacious with tons of outdoor space on each cabin lot. Fishing, boats, hot tubs, and lots of other activities on the grounds," notes a Sandusky Bayshore KOA visitor.
Hookup variations: Tall Timbers Campground offers partial hookups. "No sewer hook up. Level sites. Sites pretty close to each other so only 1 car per site," explains a reviewer. For sites with sewer connections, Lighthouse Point provides "Concrete pads. Level! Full hookups were simple to use."
Premium options: Some campgrounds offer upgraded RV sites. "One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit," explains a Lighthouse Point visitor.
Seasonal considerations: The camping season for RVs around Clyde extends primarily from April through October. A Tall Timbers visitor recommends their amenities: "Nice and clean pond and beach very clean. I used my camper shower and restroom so never used theirs. No Full hookups is the only negative but wouldn't keep us away."
