Open & not very busy in late October

Passing through ND in late October and needed a place to stay and this campground worked out well. The folks were accommodating. They don’t take credit cards though. The campground was clean and RV sites graveled and level. The water was turned off due to the recent freezing weather. The associated bar and grill were filled with locals. Bison herd and western novelist Louis L’Amour birthplace near by.

Beautiful site

This is a remote site along the North Country Trail. It's well maintained, has personalized benches around a custom fire pit. There's a pit toilet hiding in the woods next to it.

Remote Campground

We loved this campground! Granted we were there on a Monday but were one of 4 sites occupied so very quiet and private. There are lots of sites available but many of them are still very private. We stayed at site 41a which was up on a hill with nice views of the water and land in the distance and a very large site. Only downside is the many mosquitoes at dusk and dawn so come prepared!

Hidden Gem

This campground is not far from I-94. The campground is clean, quiet, and beautiful. We enjoyed the views of the lake and the rolling hill, the immaculate star gazing, and peacefulness of this camp ground.

There is a resort nearby with ice cream, firewood, and souvenirs.

Coming from the East, we made the mistake of taking highway 17, which happens to be a dirt road. If you take highway 19 it’s completely paved.

Quiet and small

We stopped here on our cross country raid trip for one night. It was the perfect place for an overnight. Beautiful sunset over the hills and lake and perfect grill setup for dinner. LOTS OF BUGS! Bugs went away a little after twilight but it was bad!

Shaded and quiet

Stayed a night here on a Wednesday and there were only 5 other people. Host said it was going to be full over the weekend. It was very quiet for us. Lots of shade trees. It is not technically “lakeside” but about a half mile walk across the highway to get to the lake. It is well kept. Playground was nice and our kiddos loved it. Would stay here again!

Don’t bother

We paid 27 dollars to stay in a rotten parking lot, basically. The bathrooms were horrendous and gross. The spots were small and tough to park in. Not worth the price at all.

It’s a great place to stop

Perfect little in town camping.

Excellent Campground

Well maintained COE campground with a great little swimming beach for kids and a modern playground. Easy access, clean bathrooms, men’s and woman’s have 2 showers each and a family bathroom with one shower. The sites are pretty level clean somewhat close to one another but with the underbrush and trees you are very secluded. Situated on lake Ashtabula about 12 miles north of Valley City. We would definitely stay again for a lone weekend or 4 days just to relax.

Great campgrounds!

Our first time here & it was great! Hubby had been here as a kid, so we wanted to start our 2020 camping here. Found our favorite site & love that the stream runs in the back of all main sites! Short walk to the lake, nice little trails, small playground. Friendly staff; Scott is awesome! We will visit again!
