    Treetopia Campground

    Amazing camping/Glamping!

Treetopia is a unique and truly amazing camping/Glamping experience in the Catskills, New York! We were able to meet Betty, Treetopia’s manager, who toured us around the campground and took us into each type of rental they provide for that special camping trip. They have RV sites, yurts, custom furnished treehouses with electricity, beautiful tiny homes with outdoor living spaces, completely remodeled vintage airstreams, and gorgeous private cabins! Every unit was more beautiful and comfortable than the next. The backdrop for the campground is the wonderful Catskill Mountains and all of the nature that includes. A wonderfully inspiring place! 😊👍🏻

If you have an RV, they have 30/50 amp with electric and water. There is no sewer, but they have a dump-station and on-site Honeywagon truck that you can schedule. They staff was wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay perfect! 💗

    Slumberland at the River's Edge

Kayak camping at its finest, right on the upper Delaware River!

Me and two friends do a yearly kayak trip down the Delaware river and have progressively moved north each year. This year, MDW of 2023, we were traveling between Narrowsburg, NY and Port Jervis, NY. Traveling 10-15 miles a day, we ended our second day of paddling at Slumberland on the Rivers Edge. The host put out a orange cone that made finding our campsite easy and a nice beach made unloading and loading kayaks pretty easy. The accommodations were top notch, with lights already on, and a table set, along with a grill, fire pit, and covered porch and canvas tent that housed two queen sized beds along with an electric stove and a woodstove. We were able to relax on the adirondack chairs on the deck as the sun went down and our fire (wood provided by host) and the porch lights remained glowing. It was nice change from camping in our tents and sleeping pads as we are used to along the river, as the beds were very comfortable, and the heater and canvas tent kept us warm during 40 degree temperatures at night. It was quiet and peaceful and you had your own space far from the other sites at slumberland (unlike many other campgrounds along the river). We all enjoyed our stay and had a great time and I would highly recommend to any kayak campers along the river looking for more than just a patch of grass to set up a tent on.

    Alder lake

    One of our favorites!!

We arrived here early afternoon, which ended up being perfect timing as we could set up everything and catch sunset by the fire. The place is pretty easy to access with paved road the whole way there except for the last 1/2 mile where it is very bumpy. Some might say 4*4 but we made it just fine in our little Camry. There are two campsites located right outside of the park where you can park your car next to your tent but we opted to hike in. The first spot is less than 1/2 mile down the path, with the next three in the next mile. The campsites are very spacious with lots of room between you and other campers, and have a fire pit and some have picnic tables. We had a stellar time just hiking down the path and relaxing by the water. There’s no noise at night apart from the running water of the stream and we had a very peaceful weekend. We’re most definitely returning!

    Oakland Valley Campground

    Family friendly campground

Nice, family friendly campground with 3 levels to camp at. Top level has a pool, showers and bathrooms with laundry area and game room. Middle level has open field with bathrooms with sinks and running water. There is water and electric on the sites at the middle level. River level has more primitive bathrooms and some bathrooms with running water. You can camp right next to the river and it has a great view.

    Lake Taghkanic State Park Campground

    Great Spot!

Big and spacious state park with many camping options. Has options for trailers, tent sites, platforms for tents and even some cabins. Small store in park that sells firewood and ice and a few other things you may need. Big lake with swimming and boating as well as many hiking trails. Bathrooms on site as well as showers. Some sites are close together, but there are a few a little more secluded and set back. Fire pits are great. Can’t wait to camp here again!

    Neversink River Resort

    run down but decent-

Not a whole lot for children to do. There’s a bounce pillow to jump on and a really old and rickity swing set and an old metal slide. also, there’s a pool, but that is in a state of disrepair. The concrete around Is all cracked and damaged, and one of the ladders to get out was missing, but the water was clean (most Important!). They Inflate these slides, but charge a ridiculous amount to use them. They have a snack snack shop with Ice cream. The campground itself is large, and our site was right on the river and of an ample size. We had the place to ourselves on Friday, and then Saturday they stacked people right on top of us, even though there were ample other sites to spread other campers out.. Sadly, there is trash, beer bottle caps, and broken glass everywhere. I did my best to clean up, but there was still stuff all over the place. You can bring rafts and tubes and float on the river, which looked fun.. they do not monitor nor enforce quiet hours, so we had to listen to latin music blasted until well past midnight (we finally gave up on the grounds to do their job and tell them to turn music down/off so we had to) and then they were loud/wasted drunk until the early hours of the morning.. the price was high for what was here... you would think for the cost you would get more—especially better service of the grounds (keeping it clean and keeping it at a respectable noise level during quiet hours.) Not impressed with this place. I’m sure there are better places nearby—

Copake Falls Area — Taconic State Park

    Great Place for First Timers

I went here with two of my coworkers for a relaxing weekend getaway. I'm use to the rough and tough it of backpacking the AT Trail so this place had quite a few amenities I am not use to! Haha. We stayed at a platform tent site and were able to park two vehicles on site but the grounds had plenty of parking not too far from the sites. Each of the sites had a large platform (enough room for one very large tent or 2-3 smaller tents), a fire pit, and picnic table. You are very close to your neighbor in this area but when we were there everyone was very respectful. There was potable water a short walking distance away as well as flushing toilets. There was a very large open grassy field for play/sports, a playground and life guarded portion of the lake for swimming. This location was very accesible to the Bish Bash Falls trail and even had a few side trails to explore. This place is very good for easing on first timers and there were quite a few children so those who are parents should consider this a great place to get kids involved in the outdoors as well. There were other accommodations such as RV hook ups, events, and rentals but we weren't there long enough to take adavatage of those. Overall a great experience and relatively cheap for what you get. I believe it was around $30 for two nights which was the minimum.

Farm visits: Several glamping sites in the Olivebridge area feature working farms. Brookside Campground includes "a small farm right next to our site, goats, cow chickens, ducks, geese" where families can observe farm animals up close. These agricultural experiences add an educational component to glamping stays in the region.

What campers like

Secluded spots: Campers seeking privacy appreciate the more isolated glamping options near Olivebridge. At Alder Lake, "The campsites are very spacious with lots of room between you and other campers, and have a fire pit and some have picnic tables." This seclusion creates a more immersive nature experience.

Water features: Creeks and brooks enhance the glamping experience throughout the area. At Thousand Trails Rondout Valley, campers mention "a babbling brook was 30 feet behind us. Great spot for morning coffee." These water features provide both scenic value and recreational opportunities for visitors.

Clean facilities: Quality bathrooms and showers rank high in camper satisfaction. Lake Taghkanic State Park receives praise because "Showers are hot and there's great water pressure. The cleanliness of the bathrooms depends on how busy the campground is." Well-maintained facilities significantly improve the glamping experience, particularly for those new to outdoor accommodations.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most glamping sites near Olivebridge operate on limited schedules. Skyway Camping Resort runs from "May 1 - Oct 14," which aligns with the general operational season for most accommodations in the area. Weather conditions often dictate exact opening and closing dates.

Researching specific site numbers before booking improves satisfaction.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Jellystone Park Gardiner specializes in family programming with "a event just about every weekend with kid activity." In Thousand Trails Rondout Valley, "The creek that runs by the campground is gorgeous, and my kids had fun finding Crayfish." These natural encounters create memorable educational experiences during family glamping trips.

Site selection for noise: Families should consider site placement carefully. At Jellystone Park, a camper shared: "We got a red carpet site by the Gaga pit and near the water park (Cindy bear lane) and it was a convenient yet noisy site. Kids were at the playground 8 am or before and the noise woke us up." Choosing sites further from play areas ensures better rest for light sleepers.

Parking limitations: Some glamping properties near Olivebridge have restricted access for larger vehicles. At Alder Lake, an RVer noted it "Was not the easiest for my RV van to get up the hill with the ruts, but I have a small lift so it helps, lower clearance vans might not make it." Calling ahead to verify accessibility prevents arrival complications.

Resort amenities: For glamping enthusiasts traveling with RVs who want additional facilities, Skyway Camping Resort provides "full hookups with cable and wifi" though one camper mentioned "Office forgot to give us wifi info and had closed early." Calling ahead for access codes prevents connectivity frustrations upon arrival.
