The Catskills region houses several distinctive glamping accommodations, including The Blueberry Patch with its beautifully appointed yurts and Glamping Camp in the Catskills featuring authentic tipis. These accommodations merge wilderness immersion with upscale amenities rarely found in traditional camping. The yurts at The Blueberry Patch come equipped with wood-burning stoves for year-round comfort, while the tipis offer a more rustic yet still luxurious alternative. Russell Brook Campsites and Roscoe Campsites both provide glamping options with electricity, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and proximity to streams and rivers. Many locations offer enhanced features like picnic tables, fire rings, and access to clean bathroom facilities with hot showers. One guest shared, "To our surprise we found this beautiful yurt in the Catskills with views to envy any nature enthusiast. The dark nights were filled with gazing shooting stars. A wood oven stove kept us cozy our entire stay."

Waterfront settings distinguish many Margaretville area glamping sites, with Russell Brook Campsites positioning luxury tents and upscale accommodations directly alongside Russell Brook. The surrounding Catskill Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop for outdoor adventures, while still offering resort-style amenities. Guests can explore hiking trails, fish in premier trout streams, or simply relax at their glamping site. Several locations operate seasonally, typically from May through October, though The Blueberry Patch offers year-round stays in their climate-controlled yurts. Most glamping sites require reservations, particularly during peak summer and fall foliage seasons. According to a camper, "It's quiet, clean, gorgeous, with brand new cabins and concrete pads. Fisherman's heaven." The proximity to local attractions in Roscoe, known as Trout Town USA, and various Catskill Mountain recreation areas makes these glamping experiences both accessible and memorable.

    Treetopia Campground

    Amazing camping/Glamping!

Treetopia is a unique and truly amazing camping/Glamping experience in the Catskills, New York! We were able to meet Betty, Treetopia’s manager, who toured us around the campground and took us into each type of rental they provide for that special camping trip. They have RV sites, yurts, custom furnished treehouses with electricity, beautiful tiny homes with outdoor living spaces, completely remodeled vintage airstreams, and gorgeous private cabins! Every unit was more beautiful and comfortable than the next. The backdrop for the campground is the wonderful Catskill Mountains and all of the nature that includes. A wonderfully inspiring place! 😊👍🏻

If you have an RV, they have 30/50 amp with electric and water. There is no sewer, but they have a dump-station and on-site Honeywagon truck that you can schedule. They staff was wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay perfect! 💗

    Slumberland at the River's Edge

Kayak camping at its finest, right on the upper Delaware River!

Me and two friends do a yearly kayak trip down the Delaware river and have progressively moved north each year. This year, MDW of 2023, we were traveling between Narrowsburg, NY and Port Jervis, NY. Traveling 10-15 miles a day, we ended our second day of paddling at Slumberland on the Rivers Edge. The host put out a orange cone that made finding our campsite easy and a nice beach made unloading and loading kayaks pretty easy. The accommodations were top notch, with lights already on, and a table set, along with a grill, fire pit, and covered porch and canvas tent that housed two queen sized beds along with an electric stove and a woodstove. We were able to relax on the adirondack chairs on the deck as the sun went down and our fire (wood provided by host) and the porch lights remained glowing. It was nice change from camping in our tents and sleeping pads as we are used to along the river, as the beds were very comfortable, and the heater and canvas tent kept us warm during 40 degree temperatures at night. It was quiet and peaceful and you had your own space far from the other sites at slumberland (unlike many other campgrounds along the river). We all enjoyed our stay and had a great time and I would highly recommend to any kayak campers along the river looking for more than just a patch of grass to set up a tent on.

    Alder lake

    One of our favorites!!

We arrived here early afternoon, which ended up being perfect timing as we could set up everything and catch sunset by the fire. The place is pretty easy to access with paved road the whole way there except for the last 1/2 mile where it is very bumpy. Some might say 4*4 but we made it just fine in our little Camry. There are two campsites located right outside of the park where you can park your car next to your tent but we opted to hike in. The first spot is less than 1/2 mile down the path, with the next three in the next mile. The campsites are very spacious with lots of room between you and other campers, and have a fire pit and some have picnic tables. We had a stellar time just hiking down the path and relaxing by the water. There’s no noise at night apart from the running water of the stream and we had a very peaceful weekend. We’re most definitely returning!

    Oakland Valley Campground

    Family friendly campground

Nice, family friendly campground with 3 levels to camp at. Top level has a pool, showers and bathrooms with laundry area and game room. Middle level has open field with bathrooms with sinks and running water. There is water and electric on the sites at the middle level. River level has more primitive bathrooms and some bathrooms with running water. You can camp right next to the river and it has a great view.

    Lake Taghkanic State Park Campground

    Great Spot!

Big and spacious state park with many camping options. Has options for trailers, tent sites, platforms for tents and even some cabins. Small store in park that sells firewood and ice and a few other things you may need. Big lake with swimming and boating as well as many hiking trails. Bathrooms on site as well as showers. Some sites are close together, but there are a few a little more secluded and set back. Fire pits are great. Can’t wait to camp here again!

    Neversink River Resort

    run down but decent-

Not a whole lot for children to do. There’s a bounce pillow to jump on and a really old and rickity swing set and an old metal slide. also, there’s a pool, but that is in a state of disrepair. The concrete around Is all cracked and damaged, and one of the ladders to get out was missing, but the water was clean (most Important!). They Inflate these slides, but charge a ridiculous amount to use them. They have a snack snack shop with Ice cream. The campground itself is large, and our site was right on the river and of an ample size. We had the place to ourselves on Friday, and then Saturday they stacked people right on top of us, even though there were ample other sites to spread other campers out.. Sadly, there is trash, beer bottle caps, and broken glass everywhere. I did my best to clean up, but there was still stuff all over the place. You can bring rafts and tubes and float on the river, which looked fun.. they do not monitor nor enforce quiet hours, so we had to listen to latin music blasted until well past midnight (we finally gave up on the grounds to do their job and tell them to turn music down/off so we had to) and then they were loud/wasted drunk until the early hours of the morning.. the price was high for what was here... you would think for the cost you would get more—especially better service of the grounds (keeping it clean and keeping it at a respectable noise level during quiet hours.) Not impressed with this place. I’m sure there are better places nearby—

    Jellystone Park™ Gardiner

    Great for beginners

The camp is set up in a “blank slate, parking lot” type style, with a big field, center for tent camping or to be used for sports or other activities. There’s a “lazy river” at one side and a small RV village on the other, and tent sites with water or dry tent camping. Restrooms are available with hot and cold running water, showers and toilets.

    Thousand Trails Rondout Valley

    Beautiful campground

As part of the Thousand Trails group, this campground has many amenities. It offers a pool, playground, and activities that include bocce ball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. We loved our full hookup site minus the neighbors’ weekend ragers. (At least they turned off the music at quiet hours).

The creek that runs by the campground is gorgeous, and my kids had fun finding Crayfish.

The nearby towns are adorable and offer shopping, hiking, farms, and more.

Guide to Margaretville

The Margaretville area sits within the western Catskill Mountains at approximately 1,325 feet elevation, where camping areas frequently border streams and brooks that feed into the larger Delaware River watershed. Temperatures typically range from 50-75°F during summer camping season with nighttime drops requiring extra layers. Glamping close to Margaretville, New York has grown increasingly accessible with options ranging from authentic tipis to luxury tents situated along waterways.

What to do

Fishing at premier spots: Russell Brook Campsites provides direct access to some of the area's best fishing. According to Mike C., "Our site was massive (39) and and direct access to Russell Brook. Couldn't keep my son out of the water." Trout fishing is particularly productive in spring and early summer.

Hiking nearby trails: Alder Lake offers multiple trail options for day hikes. Erik C. notes, "The hike around the lake is a lovely, easy walk. The hike trail that connects to the far end of the lake is 6+ miles and while there were no real views, it was lovely. We also hiked the balsam lake fire tower which had nice views of the area."

Water activities beyond swimming: Beaver Spring Lake at Crazy Acres Campground offers fishing and recreational water activities. Robert M. shares, "We had fun, plenty of activities, a big lake to fish in and a pool to relax by." The lake permits non-motorized watercraft like canoes and kayaks.

What campers like

Year-round accessibility: Unlike many seasonal operations, some sites provide accommodations during colder months. The yurts at The Blueberry Patch feature wood-burning stoves for winter comfort, with Shirley A. noting, "It was beginning of fall in October and the dark nights were filled with gazing shooting stars. A wood oven stove to keep us cozy our entire stay."

Clean facilities: Russell Brook Campsites maintains high standards throughout their property. Attila T. observed, "It's clean and well-maintained - even the restrooms. Every site is well-equipped with its own water, electricity, fire pit, and picnic table."

Spacious, private sites: Many Catskills glamping spots provide separation between campers. At Alder Lake, Nora S. found, "The campsites are very spacious with lots of room between you and other campers, and have a fire pit and some have picnic tables." This privacy extends to many luxury tent accommodations across the region.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Popular glamping sites near Margaretville fill quickly, especially during fall foliage season. Availability at Nickerson Park Campground can be limited, but Taylor H. noted, "We stayed for two nights mid-week in June and had the entire loop to ourselves."

Access challenges for some sites: Road conditions can present difficulties. SJ W. explains about Alder Lake: "Was not the easiest for my RV van to get up the hill with the ruts, but I have a small lift so it helps, lower clearance vans might not make it."

Seasonal differences in crowd levels: Popularity varies dramatically by season. Colleen J. warns about summer at Alder Lake: "We arrived around 11:00 am and the parking lot was already packed and cars were lined up along the road... If you're looking for a relaxing, quiet camping experience, this isn't the place for you."

Tips for camping with families

Waterfront sites for kids: Waterfront glamping options provide built-in entertainment. At Russell Brook, Brian J. shares, "It's an awesome visit to the woods. As close to nature as possible with modern conveniences still nearby."

Playground access: Many glamping locations include play areas for children. Kasey M. notes about Rondout Valley, "It offers a pool, playground, and activities that include bocce ball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. We loved our full hookup site... The creek that runs by the campground is gorgeous, and my kids had fun finding Crayfish."

Tips from RVers

Site selection for connectivity: Cell service and internet vary widely across the region. Inez W. advises about Rondout Valley: "The only problem I had was that my Starlink didn't work at the first site (372 - full hookup) but they let me choose another site (435 - no sewer) and I was happy as a clam."

Hookup configuration: Be prepared for site-specific challenges with utilities. As Inez W. continues, "The sewer connection in 372 ran uphill for me, but my pipe sits very low." Bring extra hose length and supporting blocks to manage difficult connections at some glamping sites near Margaretville.

Level site availability: Many Country Roads Campground sites offer good leveling conditions. Tom R. notes, "Beautiful campground. Stayed in The Pines section. Spacious sites." Most premium glamping options include level platforms for tents or pre-leveled structures.
