A reviewer noted that the "camp store is small but well stocked with a laundry attached." Cooking facilities vary considerably between locations—some cabins include indoor stoves while others provide only outdoor fire rings, making meal planning an important consideration.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

      Field Camping

It's not all bad! It took a while to find our site in the dark as site markers are small. The sites are decent size, the bathrooms are clean but spiders will hang out. Showers are hot. Sites are available with electric and there is an RV dump station if you have one. There are a lot of RVs at this campground, a large playground, and a field with soccer goals (no net). Niagara Falls is 15 or so miles away, and Buffalo NY is a short drive. The bathroom building has an outdoor sink with heated water, and this is also where the trash bins are.  Firewood is available in front of many nearby homes (a couple of miles, max,and $4-5 a bundle). The fire pits are either low or leaning, so we found a camp stove to be essential. It can get quite windy, we saw a tent buckle and our stakes were pulled up from the wind. It can get loud at night and it doesn't seem as if quiet hours are enforced. I'd stay again but only if a more private campground was unavailable.

      Evangola State Park Campground

      Great campground

We stayed here three nights to ride out a heat wave and really liked it. Sites are electric only, with a dump station available at the entrance and one in the campground loop. There are potable water spigots throughout the campground, where you awkwardly pull over to the side of the road and fill your tank.

Sites are pretty much wide open, with zero separation between you and your neighbor. Most are out in direct sun but the ones along the edge have some tree cover and shade.

There are yurts here as well, and a playground, and a huge disc golf course. You can walk to the beach from the campground (dogs aren’t allowed on the beach). The nature center is right in the campground, by the basketball and tennis courts. Showers were dirty and buggy, but they’re free and you can actually choose your own water temperature.

NY State campgrounds require proof of rabies vaccinations for your dogs. Good cell reception for Verizon, ATT wasn’t great but the cell booster helped. Trash bins, but no recycling. Beautiful sunset on the lake.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

      Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

      Would absolutely camp here again.

      Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

      Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

Quaker Area — Allegany State Park State Park

      Quaker Area- Buffalo Cabin #8

We head out to Allegany State Park every year in late fall. The cabins are perfect for cooler temperatures and cozying up beside the wood stove. The table and chairs provided inside the cabin are perfect for eating on and prepping food.

The buffalo trail is perfect for a weekend getaway, with Cabin 8 far in the corner, providing lots of space between nearby cabins. It is also beside the river and provides a wonderful sound to fall asleep to.

Shower facilities are just down the road and were very clean! The bathroom facilities on the buffalo cabin loop are also equally clean and warm in the colder temperatures!

      Darien Lakes State Park Campground

      Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Guide to Hamburg

Cabins near Hamburg, New York offer comfortable accommodations within easy reach of Western New York's natural attractions. Located in the Niagara Frontier region at approximately 800 feet elevation, the area experiences four distinct seasons with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Most cabin sites in this region sit among hardwood forests with accessible trails connecting to waterways and recreation areas.

    What to do

Lake activities at Evangola State Park: Visitors staying at Evangola State Park Campground enjoy access to Lake Erie for beachfront relaxation, though water conditions vary. "The views are beautiful and sitting areas to sit on the lake or pathways to stroll along the lake. There are nice trails through the woods and nice camping spots with views of sunsets and the water," notes one visitor. Many campers recommend water shoes for swimming due to rocky terrain.

Hiking opportunities: The region offers extensive trail systems for all ability levels. Letchworth State Park Campground features dozens of miles of trails overlooking the Genesee River gorge. "When we lived in Rochester we'd take out of town guests either here or to Watkins Glen. The loops near the Lower Falls are our favorites, but any choice is a good one. All are close to the gorge/river and wooded, and connect to trails directly from your campsite," shares a frequent visitor.

Theme park access: Families can combine cabin camping with amusement park thrills at Six Flags Darien Lake Campground. "This is a large campground. Walking distance to the theme park. Campground fees include admission to the theme park," explains a reviewer. The park offers roller coasters, water attractions, and seasonal events from May through October.

    What campers like

Cabin variety: Branches of Niagara Campground (now HTR Niagara) provides diverse accommodation options beyond standard cabins. "Sites for all types of camping available as well as nice new cabins and yurts for rent! There's a pretty large pond with a picnic island in the middle and a beach," notes one camper. Their cabins include modern amenities while maintaining a woodsy feel.

Waterfront views: Many campers appreciate lakeside accommodations at Four Mile Creek State Park Campground. "We camped at site 161 which was fairly shaded and had a large open field with a view of Lake Ontario. Sunsets were beautiful and a lot of campers come to the lake in the evening to watch it," shares a visitor. On clear days, campers can see Toronto's skyline across Lake Ontario.

On-site recreation: Lodging options with built-in activities receive high marks from visitors. "This was the most perfect family campground we've been to. They have every amenity you could need and the grounds are pristine. Our favorites were the 3 pools and brand new playground," reports a family staying at HTR Niagara Campground. Many cabin sites offer recreation without needing to drive elsewhere.

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Most cabin facilities operate from May through October with limited winter availability. "We can't wait to get back and wander some more!" mentions a visitor to Letchworth State Park, reflecting the park's seasonal appeal. Bookings during peak summer months often require 3-6 month advance reservations.

Park entrance fees: Some state parks charge daily vehicle fees in addition to lodging costs. "One perk we were not aware of was free parking at one of the three New York park parking lots with our campground pass," notes a Four Mile Creek visitor regarding Niagara Falls access. Many campers recommend purchasing an Empire Pass for multiple state park visits.

Bathroom proximity: Cabin locations relative to restroom facilities vary significantly between campgrounds. At Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground, "Clean bathrooms near the campground store" are mentioned by reviewers, while others note longer walks to facilities at different parks. Checking bathroom placement on campground maps before booking helps with site selection.

    Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: For summer visits, cabins near water features provide welcome relief from heat. "Branches has a lot to offer on site and nearby. The pool and lazy river are beautiful, the zip line is awesome and they have great sites," shares a camper at HTR Niagara. Some parks offer multiple swimming options including beaches and pools.

Playground access: Family-oriented campgrounds typically provide playgrounds for different age groups. "There is a fairly new Frisbee golf course as well," mentions a Darien Lakes State Park visitor. Many cabin loops are strategically placed near these amenities for convenient supervision.

Organized activities: Several campgrounds schedule regular events for children. "Weekly free activities ranging from root beer float night to a traveling Birds of Prey show! Nightly Hayrides around the grounds, and rentals for various boats available," notes a visitor to HTR Niagara Campground.

    Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: While cabin accommodations are standardized, RVers report varying experiences with site access. "Sites are easy access, rock bed for the sites, you are escorted to site. Easy access to local attractions, including Niagara Falls," explains a visitor to Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday. Most area campgrounds can accommodate larger rigs, though specific loop restrictions may apply.

Utility hookups: For those bringing their own accommodations, electrical service varies between parks. "The campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping," notes a reviewer at Evangola State Park. Water fill stations are typically centralized rather than at individual sites.

Winter preparation: Very few facilities remain open during winter months. "We stayed here when seeing the falls easy 18 min drive to the falls," mentions a Four Mile Creek camper during their seasonal visit. RVers planning shoulder-season stays should verify winterization status of water systems.
