Best RV Parks & Resorts near Hamburg, NY

Several RV parks and resorts provide accommodations for motorhomes near Hamburg, New York. Colden Lakes Resort offers 30 full hookup sites with 50-amp service and accepts big rigs on gravel pads. DINO RV Campground in Cheektowaga provides three pull-through sites with electric, water, and sewer connections approximately 15 miles from Hamburg. ["We were able to park deeper off the road due to the kindness of the owners letting us borrow an extension cord," noted one visitor to Colden Lakes.] Southwoods RV Resort in Byron features spacious sites with 50-amp electric service, sewer, and water hookups, operating seasonally from May through October. Skyline RV Resort in Darien Center accommodates large motorhomes with both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups on maintained gravel pads.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during summer months and fall foliage season. Dump stations are available at nearly all established campgrounds, with sanitary dump services confirmed at Gander RV, Southwoods, and Skyline. Pet policies vary by location, though most parks permit leashed pets with proper documentation. A recent visitor to Skyline noted, "The map was not correct and we did not have sewer hook up at the sight. The dumping station was free or included." Winter camping options are limited, as most facilities close between late October and early May. Travelers with large motorhomes should confirm site dimensions before booking, as some parks have tight turns or limited maneuvering space despite advertising big rig accessibility. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, with the strongest signals at parks closer to Buffalo.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Guide to Hamburg

RV camping options near Hamburg, New York include numerous family-friendly resorts within a 30-minute drive. The region experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 75-80°F and winter temperatures frequently dropping below freezing. Most campgrounds in the area are seasonal operations, typically closing between late October and early May due to western New York's significant snowfall.

What to do

Water activities for all ages: Southwoods RV Resort features two well-maintained swimming pools and recently added a beach area to their pond for swimming. "Southwoods is a beautiful campground and accommodates campers of all ages. 2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball," notes a visitor to Southwoods RV Resort.

Holiday celebrations: Holiday weekends offer special activities at many campgrounds. Jellystone Park of Western New York is known for seasonal events. "They have the best fireworks for July 4 and their Halloween weekends are full of fun and fright!" according to a regular visitor.

Explore nearby attractions: Several RV sites near Hamburg provide convenient access to local points of interest. "We stayed at Southwoods while visiting the Rochester, NY area and exploring attractions in the area. The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland," explains one camper.

What campers like

Family-friendly amenities: Many campgrounds in the Hamburg area cater specifically to families with children. "There is something for everyone at this campground. They made recent additions that are awesome. They added a new section of premium sites, they added a beach to their pond and allow swimming," shares a visitor to Jellystone Park.

Clean facilities: Cleanliness ranks high on campers' priority lists when choosing rv parks near Hamburg. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids. Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked," notes a visitor to Southwoods RV Resort.

Helpful staff: Campground hosts often make a significant difference in the camping experience. "The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites," reports a camper at Maple Lane RV Park.

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most RV sites in the Hamburg area operate on a limited schedule. "Open from April 1 - October 31. Closed from November 1 - March 31," states the listing for Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging, which is typical of the region's camping season.

Site spacing considerations: Many campgrounds have limited space between sites, particularly on busy weekends. "Not bad, pond was great for the dogs but it's a little run down here & lots of seasonal sites. Looks more like a trailer park," observes a visitor to Niagara Hartland RV Resort.

Noise factors: Some campgrounds may experience noise from nearby transportation routes. "Basic, clean campground about 20 mins from the Falls. Very convenient with nice workers but likely wouldn't book again. The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent. It's right off the main road and nearby trains blared their horns throughout the night," reports a tent camper.

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated play areas: When selecting an RV park near Hamburg with children, prioritize those with multiple recreation options. "We do enjoy a little Jellystone every now and then. I feel like it is pretty crowded. The water area always seems to be over crowded and never enough room for sitting! Our favorite time of year to visit is around Halloween. They always have great activities and trick or treating with the kids," shares one family.

Consider campground busyness: Family-oriented parks often have more activity and noise. "We hit this campground on our way through to Lake George, and I was genuinely upset that we couldn't stay longer. So many fun amenities. It's like a water park meets campground. Games areas, activities galore. Would not recommend to someone looking for silence or just passing through however!" notes a visitor to Jellystone Park.

Free activities can save money: Some campgrounds include complimentary recreation options. "Putt putt was free. So many things to do with the kids. Heated pools. Beach was clean," mentions a visitor to Frost Ridge RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Check hook-up placement: The positioning of utilities can affect your RV setup. "We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good," shares an experienced RVer at Southwoods.

Site surface matters: Different campgrounds offer varying pad surfaces. "Level gravel sites. Sites are close together, but not busy now, so not a problem," notes a camper at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging who paid "$76 per night, Friday and Saturdays. $69/night weekdays."

Consider repair services: Some RV sites near Hamburg provide on-site maintenance. "The employees were very friendly. They have a repair shop on site," mentions a visitor to Skyline RV Resort who encountered an unexpected issue with their campsite.
