    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Camping options in the Pilesgrove area of New Jersey include several established campgrounds within a short drive of town. Four Seasons Family Campground in Pilesgrove and Old Cedar Campground in nearby Monroeville provide accommodations for tent campers, RV travelers, and cabin renters. Most developed campgrounds in the region feature electric hookups, water access, and bathroom facilities, with varying degrees of amenities. The sand and soil conditions at many sites create natural, wooded settings that offer privacy between campsites, particularly at locations like Old Cedar and Tall Pines Resort.

Most campgrounds in the Pilesgrove vicinity operate seasonally, typically from April through October, though some like Four Seasons Family Campground extend their season from February through December. "The staff is friendly. Facilities are clean. Very quiet and peaceful at night with lots of activities for the kids during the day," noted one visitor about Four Seasons. Reservation requirements are common throughout the area, with weekends filling quickly during summer months. Travelers should note that many campgrounds in this region charge additional fees for extra campers beyond the standard two-person allowance, and some restrict certain activities like alcohol consumption or open fires depending on local regulations and seasonal conditions.

Family-oriented amenities represent a significant draw at campgrounds near Pilesgrove. Swimming pools, fishing ponds, playgrounds, and organized activities for children are commonly mentioned in visitor reviews. The terrain in this part of New Jersey is generally flat with mixed wooded and open areas, creating comfortable camping environments. Several visitors highlighted the balance of natural settings with convenient amenities. "We were here about 10-15 years ago and swore we'd never go back. I'm glad we did. They've added a pool and are working on a mini golf area. Nice playground, basketball court, 2 fishing areas," reported a camper at Old Cedar Campground. Most developed campgrounds in the region support RVs with full hookups including 50-amp service, though tent campers also find designated areas at most facilities. Quiet hours are generally enforced, creating peaceful evenings despite the family-friendly atmosphere during daytime hours.

      Lums Pond State Park Campground

      Lums Pond campground

First time at this campground really like it a lot will be returning. The bathrooms are always clean. The grounds are always kept up. Just a really nice place to stay. Most of the sites have some kind of shade.

      Birchview Campground

Quiet Getaway close to home for us

Mary & her crew run a great campground. Full hookup. Slow schedule during the week-camp store & pool mainly. Saturdays always have activities planned from bingo to quarter auctions, picnics & music. Each Saturday is different. Clean grounds. Nice playgrounds. Kiddie pool & nice size pool from 3-5’ deep. 2 cabins also available.

Atsion Family Camp — Wharton State Forest

      Not my vibe

I personally did not like this campsite. First of all, our site tag was leftover from SEPTEMBER. Did no one look at any of these sites and leave someone else’s registration posted there for almost a year? Wild. Our campsite had trash leftover from previous campers. The whole campground was loud - from other campers to just the sounds from the nearby road. If you are looking for peace it is NOT here. If you’re looking to have loud music time all night with no repercussions as your kids ride around yelling and carrying on past midnight then you’ll have a blast. The pros of this campsite was supposed to be the access to Lake Atsion but we were turned away at the gate at 12:30 as they stated they were at capacity. Checking into our campsite they specifically asked if we would be utilizing the recreation area so we would have a pass for entry, but that’s seemingly not in their logistical headcount. I would not visit here again.

      Susquehanna State Park Campground

A little noisy - park stuff, not campers

A beautiful, well maintained park with lots to do, great bathroom facilities and extremely nice people. The electric sites aren't all together, so you don't have RV's lined up but maybe annoying for folks who are tent camping. Avoid the locations in the mid-30's by the dumpster, both staff and campers start shaking the lid around 6:30. Between 5 AM and noon staff were driving big trucks and ATV's around with loud reverse horns, and slamming the fire pit grills, which they store sideways. Overall I had a really wonderful time, but that's largely down to good sound reduction inside the van. Almost zero cell service. I was able to get a couple of text messages in and out, but seemed to be a fluke.

      Elk Neck State Park Campground

      Great for families

This campsite was amazing for our first tent camping experience. The park was a godsend for keeping our toddler occupied and we felt very safe overall. While the beach is pretty, be careful about the water condition. We were warned before entering and informed of the risks. They were very clear on the condition of the water that day which was a yellow, slight risk. But normally it should be okay. We would definitely camp here again.

      Wading Pines Camping Resort

      Poor sites

I recently stayed at Site 36, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The biggest issue was the campsite itself. Site 36 is extremely small, with neighboring campers only about 5 feet away on one side and roughly 12 feet behind the site. There was very little privacy, which made it difficult to relax. Many of the nearby sites appeared to be occupied by long-term or permanent residents. Several had large amounts of personal belongings stored under tarps, giving the area an unkempt appearance. In addition, the neighboring campsite had children's bikes, large toys, and other miscellaneous items overflowing onto the site I had rented, making it feel even more cramped. Another major concern was the constant cigarette and marijuana smoke. It was noticeable throughout much of the day, and because of the smoke, I couldn't comfortably leave my camper windows open. At over $110 per night for a full hookup site, I expected a much better experience. I understand the campground told me there were no other sites available, although I did notice a few empty sites during my stay. Whether those sites were reserved or unavailable for another reason, I can't say, but Site 346 should not be rented at this price given its condition and lack of privacy. Overall, I would not stay here again and cannot recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing camping experience. Its great for daily tubing but as a camper they lock the fence that gets you to the bridge so you have to take a long walk around although non campers can pull right up, it makes no sense to have a pass through that's locked.

Godfrey Bridge — Wharton State Forest

      Primitive, vehicle accessible campground

$10/night for out of staters. About 30 well spaced sites. Every site has fire ring, some places half shaded. Pit toilets spaced around the campground. No water. Great cell service (5G) with Verizon

    Guide to Pilesgrove

Hiking opportunities: The Lums Pond State Park Campground has several well-maintained trails surrounding a large pond. At Lums Pond State Park Campground, sites have been recently upgraded: "Sites are big and all were redone in the last few years with concrete pads, 30 amp service and full sewer," reported one RVer who visits regularly.

Water hookup planning: At some campgrounds, water hookups may be shared or positioned in unexpected locations. A visitor to Old Cedar Campground advised: "The water hookups are shared every other site (at least in the Fence Loop). I was lucky my 75' hose barely reached the distance needed.
