Cabin rentals near Shell Knob, Missouri offer direct access to Table Rock Lake, located at an elevation of 915 feet above sea level. These accommodations typically range from rustic to modern and are available throughout the area's primary camping season from March through November. Winter cabin availability is limited, with only a few locations like Port Of Kimberling Resort & Campground and America's Best Campground offering year-round options.
What to do
Fishing opportunities: At Roaring River State Park Campground, trout fishing is the main attraction. "Several different types of campsites. One area is more shaded and near the pool but not by river. The other two are all close to water but some lack shade. Fishing is good for all ages and day fishing licenses are available," notes Sandi C.
Hiking trails: Most cabin properties provide access to nature paths of varying difficulty levels. "Roaring river has three different campgrounds. I prefer ground one and two... There are also several hiking trails throughout the park, a visitors center, bath houses, a pool, and swimming holes," explains Wendy M.
Water activities: Table Rock Lake offers swimming, boating, and kayaking options at Port Of Kimberling Resort & Campground. "This camp site is part of a marina and resort so can get packed but the views and amenities make it worth the risk. Has lots to do. Boat and jetski rental, floating cafe, hotel with pool or cabins," according to Chandra H.
What campers like
Lake views: Many campers appreciate cabins with water views. "We were on these beautiful bluff and had access to the lake. Has lots to do," says a Port of Kimberling visitor.
Quality facilities: Clean, well-maintained amenities receive consistent praise at America's Best Campground. "Shower rooms and bathrooms were spotless and nice. Had a great time at Branson and this rv park made it even better," reports Steve S.
Peaceful settings: Despite being near attractions, many sites offer quiet environments. "After camping each month through the summer, it was a pleasant change for the temperature to dip for our two night visit to Lake Leatherwood City Park. The campsite was built in the 1940s and still has that old feel to it. It's basic but efficient and clean," notes Graham B.
What you should know
Reservation requirements: During peak season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), advance bookings are essential. "Reservations are highly recommended as this is a trout fishing park and fills up during the summer and on weekends," advises Gary P. about Roaring River State Park.
Size limitations: Some cabin areas have space constraints. At Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park, "The RVs feel a bit crammed into the space in most areas. The treehouse cabins and regular cabins however are exceptional and well thought," observes Crystal C.
Seasonal considerations: Weather affects cabin comfort significantly. "We were completely surprised at the accommodations. Sites in some of the facility are a little smaller and many others are very good sized, make sure to ask," suggests John F. about Wanderlust RV Park.
Tips for camping with families
Playground access: Several properties offer designated play areas. "We brought our grandkids out for a weekend and stayed in one of the larger spaces with a deck and gas grill. From swimming in the pool to shooting hoops and climbing in the playgrounds they have had plenty to do," reports Craig B.
Theme cabins: Children enjoy unique accommodations. "My family stayed in the African Treehouse Lodge. The kids loved that the upstairs was up a ladder and running across the swinging rope bridge. The playground has a zipline that all the kiddos had a blast using," shares Barrett C. about Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park.
Educational opportunities: Fish hatcheries provide learning experiences. "There are few deep swimming holes in the park although their are plenty of area's to wade and catch crawdads. You can walk the holding tanks and feed the trout from baby to ready to be released into the river," explains Sandi C.
Tips from RVers
Leveling considerations: Many cabin sites share campgrounds with RV areas where terrain can be uneven. "Sites are large. Located less than a mile for the Passion Play," notes Mark J. about Wanderlust RV Park.
Utility connections: Most cabin properties also accommodate RVs with varying hookup options. "At site, 20,30, & 50 amp service. No water nor sewer at site, but dump and fill stations are readily available. New this year is free wifi, although spotty and very slow during busy hours," explains Gary P.
Seasonal pricing: Off-season rentals can provide significant savings. "Campground is well maintained with beautiful views of Table Rock Lake. We were in upper section (electric only) - the lower section next to the marina has full hookups," observes Larry F. about Port of Kimberling Resort.
