Beagle Bay RV Haven Campground welcomes pets throughout its property, which includes RV sites, tent camping areas on a level lawn near a small fishing lake, and a convenient location just off Interstate 44. Tent campers have access to clean bathrooms with showers located a short walk from camping areas. The campground maintains a family-friendly atmosphere with amenities including an arcade, swimming pool, playground, and fishing pond that campers with pets can enjoy during their stay. Springfield Route 66 KOA also accommodates pets with designated walking areas, though train noise may disturb sensitive animals throughout the day and night. Several feral cats roam the KOA property, which may be a consideration for dog owners. Both campgrounds offer full hookup sites with 50-amp electric service for RVs, while maintaining pet-friendly policies across their various accommodation options.

Dogs can accompany their owners to nearby Roaring River State Park Campground, which features hiking trails and natural water features suitable for pets. The park maintains pet-friendly campsites year-round with standard amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, and access to clean restrooms. Mill Creek and Cape Fair campgrounds, situated along Table Rock Lake, provide additional pet-friendly options with waterfront access where dogs can cool off during summer camping trips. Most campgrounds in the Mount Vernon area require pets to remain leashed at all times when outside vehicles or camping units. During peak summer months, campers should be mindful of hot ground surfaces that may injure pet paws, and should always carry sufficient water for pets when hiking trails or exploring campground properties. Bathrooms at Beagle Bay are particularly noteworthy, featuring two toilets, two showers, and a sauna in each facility, making longer stays with pets more comfortable.

Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park

      Quiet, Centrally Located, Large Sites

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was the week after Labor Day and was mostly vacant, making for a quiet stay. Love the amenities for kids! The only reason I give 4 stars is the dog policy— it’s very strict, and there isn’t a dog park type area to let pets off leash to play & get energy out.

      Cooper Creek Resort

      Loved our time

Location is easy to find. Love being next to the water! Heard there is a dog park coming this summer. Great place to go if u want to vacation with someone that doesn't have a camper because of the cabins on property. we will be back.

Sugar Camp Lookout Tower Dispersed Area

      Peaceful Retreat

My husband and I rented our first camper van to see if short trips meant to create memories are do-able in a camper van, for us. 1000% yes.

This was our first experience and got exactly what was described. The road was bumpy but we had zero problems with our 4x4 rig.

Sunsets and sunrises were stunning!!! Great fall retreat. We even met a stray cat we wish we could have taken home with us. Poor thing is starving. She will come if calls and purrs when petted. We named her “Sugar” after the location.

There seems to be a private off-road recreation area that provided moderate traffic. We were kind of tucked back a bit from the road and it didn’t bother us.

      Springfield - Route 66 KOA

      Great Service But Smaller Sites

Of all the KOAs I have visited I was very eager to check out this one.  Close to Springfield and not to far from the turn off to Wilson Creek Battlefield this one just kinda made sense for a visit.

When I ventured to check it out I quickly noticed that the site spacing was not the best when it came to the RVs, it looked claustrophobic.   When it came to the tent sites I felt a bit more like I could breathe and stretch out.   Kind of strange that this was the case as usually the RV section at a KOA is more accommodating, in my own personal experiences.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the overall amenities were pretty inclusive.   Some of course obvious upgrades coming at additional charges while others were standard.

In true KOA fashion there is WIFI, which I personally always welcome because I work remotely and sometimes do not have the best of signal.    Additionally they had standard features such as a dog park area, playground for the kiddos and a pool, although the pool is not open year round like some.

A few things that were a bit less common however, they had a pet play room which was pretty cool and though I don't travel with my pets found it to be a very friendly touch.    I also noticed that in addition to snacks you could pick up in the store they also had pizza during certain times if you were not wanting to use your own kitchen or the common space camp kitchens.

I was pretty impressed overall but with all the good there were those claustrophobic rv sites I just couldn't get past and the pricing of a KOA always hurts the pockets a bit more even with them being nice and the common kitchen area I was attempting to use and had a few issues, this could have been just when I was visiting so I don't want to completely hold that against them but it was having issued.

      TIPS:

      * Visit Wilson's Creek Battlefield to explore, learn and hike.  When you come to this KOA it obviously does not have any hiking, but the battlefield offers a lengthy system of trails .* Bass Pro's home is Springfield, MO so you will not only find the largest Bass Pro there but also a unique museum of all animals which is quite spectacular.

      Branson Lakeside RV Park

Great RV park right on the river

Great atmosphere and sooo close to the Branson landing for dinner/shopping but also right on the river for a great day on the boat. Just a bit down river from Lily’s Landing (bait shop and a fun stop in for the kids to grab a snack). Walking distance to a park with play ground and two separate dog park areas (one fenced one open). Definitely an “RV PARK” nothing secluded about it if that’s what you’re looking for... very close to neighboring site and even in off season it was packed full the weekend we went. The sites along the river side had great big fire pits too.

      Joplin KOA

      Great spot!

We were just passing through and stayed for a night. We had sewer, water, and electric hookup. A nice dog park, and even found some 4 leaf clovers!

      Springfield - Route 66 KOA

      Great place to stay

My wife and our children stayed here in the summer while we traveled for work and we were extremely pleased with both the grounds and the staff. They have great amenities and clean facilities as well as washers and dryers. They were so accommodating. The only drawback is a train close by. They have a small gated dog park and I huge open field. They have a seasonal swimming pool, kids playground, game room and few more things to keep the kids busy. Good WiFi and a shop that sells/makes/delivers pizza to your campsite. We will be visiting again in the future definitely.

      Eureka Springs KOA

      Super clean! Great place!

I couldn’t get over how clean this facility was. Very kind and accommodating staff. We stayed in a Kamping Kabin with a bunk bed and a full size bed and it was sparkling clean. The pool was sparkling clean as well. Great dog park and children’s park.

    Guide to Mount Vernon

Camping spots near Mount Vernon, Missouri offer both riverside sites along Table Rock Lake and forest-based campsites with easy access to I-44. At elevations ranging from 1,200-1,400 feet, these campgrounds experience moderate seasonal weather with summer temperatures reaching mid-90s and winter lows regularly dipping below freezing. Most campgrounds in the area maintain seasonal operations, with many closing from November through March.

    What to do

Trout fishing opportunities: At Roaring River State Park Campground, fishing is a primary activity with stocked trout pools and stream fishing. "You can walk the holding tanks and feed the trout from baby to ready to be released into the river. There is also a cave you can walk in where you'll find a pool of water that goes for miles underground," notes Wendy M.

Enjoy water activities: Hootentown Canoe Rental & Campground offers direct river access with equipment rentals. "They have it all. Fire wood for your camp fires. Canoe or raft rentals and a ride up stream so you can float back to camp. Riverside camping. A convenient store we had a blast," explains Bethany S.

Wildlife viewing: Mill Creek provides opportunities for bird watching along Table Rock Lake. "Bird watching is great, saw many herons walk by me whole reading a good book. Fishermen pulled theit boats right up to their sites for easy access," shares Lauren H.

    What campers like

Clean, well-maintained facilities: Cooks RV Motor Park receives praise for its upkeep. "Showers/restrooms/laundry are all in one building, and very clean and well kept. The park is adjacent to a large field where my dog was able to run to her heart's content, which was very welcome after being in other campgrounds," reports Tom H.

Family-friendly amenities: Big Red Barn RV Park offers facilities that accommodate families. "This park has level, pull-through shaded lots and a quiet location. Our group used the rally barn for meetings, and their fire pit for the evening, which were bonus features. The camp host made cinnamon rolls for us on Sunday!" shares Jan S.

Waterfront access: Cape Fair campers appreciate the lake views. "Nestled on one of the best lakes in Missouri is this clean, family campground. Fairly level sites with quite a few lake sites. Nice boat ramp and swim area. Clean shower houses well located around the camping areas," states Cathy S.

    What you should know

Train noise concerns: Springfield Route 66 KOA has railway noise issues. "Because you're going to see and hear a lot of them, as there is a train track very close to the site... If it wasn't for the trains coming by blowing their horns, this would easily be a favorite spot," warns Steven N.

Seasonal weather considerations: Summer temps can exceed 90°F, making water access important at waterfront campgrounds. Fall camping offers cooler temperatures and colorful foliage, while winter camping is limited to year-round facilities like Roaring River State Park Campground.

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds fill quickly during summer months. Cape Fair requires advance booking: "Only complaint I could find with this location is trying to book an open spot and no full hook up. Loved this camp ground and will come back again."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Some campgrounds offer dedicated children's play areas. "They have everything you could want! Arcade, swimming pool, kids playground and a pond to fish," notes Austin H. about Beagle Bay RV Haven Campground.

Swimming options: Cape Fair provides water recreation for families. "Camped here last minute to a walk up site. We have a 19' RV. Spots are paved and level, raised above the lake. Gorgeous views and water accessible from our spot. Beach swimming area," explains Staci F.

Educational opportunities: Roaring River offers learning activities alongside camping. "The camp grounds are well kept and the bathrooms are very nice and clean! We love cooking on their fire pits. Plus, this campground is close to Silver Dollar City (about 1/2 hr drive) and other points of interest!" shares Dawn D.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: Most campgrounds offer relatively level RV sites, but some require additional preparation. "The pad is level but nowhere else is. Catfish in lake, hot showers, electric and water at most sites, dump on the way out," notes T N. about Cape Fair.

Pet-friendly accommodations: For those seeking pet friendly camping near Mount Vernon, Missouri, most sites offer dedicated spaces for animals. "The park is adjacent to a large field where my dog was able to run to her heart's content, which was very welcome after being in other campgrounds where I had to keep her on a leash at all times," explains a Cooks RV Motor Park visitor.

Hookup availability: Hookup options vary significantly between campgrounds. "We were pulling our camper on our way to Nebraska and needed somewhere to stay the night. Tried booking online but were unsuccessful. Called, got a spot... Shower house was newly remodeled although the water pressure wasn't all that good," shares Casey G. about Big Red Barn RV Park.
