Best Campgrounds near Biloxi, MS

Biloxi's Gulf Coast camping includes several spots within a short drive of the beach. Dauphin Island Campground sits near white sand beaches and has trails for morning walks. Cajun RV Park lies across from Biloxi Beach with big sites and a dog park where pets can run around. If you want something less developed, Davis Bayou Campground in Gulf Islands National Seashore has good fishing spots and wildlife. The roads to most sites are fine for regular vehicles, though you'll need reservations at many places, especially on weekends. Keep your food sealed up tight since local wildlife will find it otherwise. Check on fire rules before your trip as they change based on conditions. Most camping areas limit stays to about two weeks. Spring and fall bring the best weather for camping around Biloxi - summer gets pretty hot and humid. The mix of beach access and shaded sites makes this area work well for both tent and RV camping trips.

    Santa Maria RV Park

Great RV Park - Very Easy Going

My family and I had a great experience at Santa Maria RV Park in Gautier, MS during our travel adventure around the Gulf. Pam at the main office is very easy to communicate with, and their RV hookups are in great condition. Pads can be rented with no maximum time limit. The pool is just the right size for parents and kids, and the security fence around the pool area made it really easy to keep an eye on everyone without any fuss. Highly recommend Santa Maria RV Park to anyone traveling around the Gulf shore and/or southern Mississippi.

    Buccaneer State Park Campground

It’s a great place for families

Beautiful park in a nice area. Lots of activities for the kids (in season) and plenty to do and see nearby. Waveland and Bay St Louis have lots of waterfront bars & eateries and there’s a casino nearby. Certainly more expensive than any state park we have stayed in - especially when the season has ended and the pool & water park are shut down.

    Creekside Farm Co.

    Great place!

I was the only camper there but sites are pretty spread out regardless. We had direct access to the creek. The bathroom, sink, grill, and shower were just a quick walk up the hill. Shower was cold water only but honestly so nice after a hot day. They have tons of vegetation to look at, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and peacocks. There’s a small fishing pond too. You can follow the trail around the back of the pond and see the bunker and balcony. Will definitely be back! Only complaint is the ants were terrible! Idk where they kept coming from but definitely put up anything with food (even in tubs) up while not in use. Dogs are allowed but need to be on a lead. They have two dogs too, Mocha will come around to the campsites and creeks to say hi and want sticks to be thrown. Randy up there was super helpful too and good company. Everyone honestly was just so nice.

    Lake LaCroix RV Resort

    Unexpected paradise in the Bay

My daughter and I stayed for a little girls weekend getaway before she starts college. Never heard of this place but decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with the park. The lake water is crystal clear with plenty of fish. Very peaceful here! We spent time at the natural playground, swimming in the beautiful pool, fishing and bicycling. The pool area is very nice with outdoor furniture, fire pits and loungers. Close location to the boat launch for easy access to the Jourdan River. Verizon cell service was very strong. The parks WiFi works great as well.

    Presley's Outing

    For the Locals

I stayed the entire month of June at Presley’s Outing with my parents (though I also grew up coming here). There’s a beach for day-use visitors and a separate one for long-term campers, which helps keep things a little more relaxed if you’re staying for a while. Entry is around $6/day for adults, and the monthly camping rate was about $750.

Campsites are very close together—at least where my parents were parked near the bathhouse—which made it feel a little cramped for us. There are definitely nicer, more spacious spots, but the campground was fully booked during the summer. I’m not sure if those spots cost more.

The bathhouse was decent (though warm in the June heat), and there’s a laundry facility onsite. Alcohol isn’t allowed, but there is a boat ramp where we launched our jet skis and boat with no issues. You can fish or head upriver, which adds some fun variety to the water access.

There are also a few bonus features—kayak and canoe rentals, golf cart-friendly paths, basketball and tennis courts, a volleyball net, grills and picnic tables throughout the day-use area, and even a little air pump station. They sell ice onsite, and there’s a small restaurant, though I’ve never eaten there and couldn’t say what’s on the menu.

Overall, it’s a decent spot for families or those with a nostalgic connection to the place. For us, the tight layout made it feel a bit too packed, and I’m not sure I’d rush back—but it’s got charm, convenience, and a solid list of amenities if that’s what you’re looking for.

    Leaf Wilderness Area

    Spots are along main road

You just drive and see very clear campsites along the main road. Due to it being public land, we did here shooting nearby, not fun.

If it weren't for the shooting, this would be a 5 star.

    Homestead RV Community

    Quiet and clean!

We enjoyed our stay here. The dog park is so big and our pups were able to really run around and get their energy out. The park itself is immaculately clean, the pool is beautiful, and the large oaks on the property give so much shade and add to the aesthetics of the environment. You can’t put anything in the grass so if you have a fence for your dog, it has to be set up on the concrete. The concrete pads are really large and make for easy leveling and give ample space to park 2 vehicles easily.

Guide to Biloxi

Camping near Biloxi, Mississippi offers access to coastal ecosystems where subtropical maritime climate keeps temperatures mild through spring and fall with average highs in the 70s. The region features barrier islands and bayous that create diverse wildlife habitats. Camping sites along the Gulf Coast provide opportunities for both water activities and woodland experiences within the same trip.

What to do

Kayaking the waterways: At Deer Island Dispersed Camping, visitors can access secluded shorelines via short paddle trips. "It's less than a half-mile off the coast, but far enough away to be left alone. Great paddling, quiet camping, lots of birds," notes reviewer Sami H. The island offers a more remote experience despite being visible from the mainland.

Fishing in local waters: Campers at Davis Bayou Campground can explore multiple fishing spots. "I've spent much of my life here. There's plenty of walking trails, and you can check out the gator alley area where you'll typically see at least one gator," shares Kaylin R., highlighting the wildlife viewing opportunities that complement fishing activities.

Explore Ocean Springs: The small town adjacent to Biloxi offers additional activities for campers. "Located directly off Highway 90 in Ocean Springs, this campground has water and electric hookups, along with clean bathrooms. Lots of nature trails and outdoor exploring inside the campground," writes Anna B. about Davis Bayou Campground. The downtown area features local shops and restaurants within a short drive.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Cajun RV Park offers generous camping spaces. "We stayed in the new section. Spots are close together with really no place to park tow vehicle without sticking out in the road. Good t-mobile cell service. Very good water pressure and good 50 amp with sewer," reports RICK V., noting the infrastructure quality despite some spatial limitations.

Easy beach access: Multiple campers appreciate the proximity to Gulf waters. "The location is across the road from the beach, and the road was easily crossed with our two dogs and a wagon with our beach stuff," explains Pat L. about Gulf Beach RV Resort, demonstrating how accessible the shoreline is from nearby campgrounds.

Clean facilities: Campground maintenance rates highly among reviewers. "My girlfriend was especially impressed with the showers, comparing them to luxury hotels," notes Pat L. about Gulf Beach RV Resort. This attention to cleanliness extends to other properties in the area, making comfort a consistent theme among reviewer comments.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Many campgrounds fill quickly, especially during peak seasons. "This is a popular park during the winter months as it is a National Park. Reserve early. No wifi, no laundry but clean bathrooms and shower," advises Doug D. about Davis Bayou Campground. Some campgrounds use online booking systems that may require planning ahead.

Noise considerations: Several campgrounds experience noise from nearby attractions or transportation. "There is a railroad nearby and it is quite loud in the evening. There was no issue for us as we are accustomed to train noises," mentions Joseph S. The proximity to casinos, highways, and entertainment venues means completely quiet camping can be hard to find.

Weather patterns: The coastal location means weather awareness is important. Hurricane season runs June through November, with August through October presenting the highest risk. Winter temperatures rarely drop below freezing, making the area suitable for year-round camping if properly prepared for occasional storms or high humidity.

Tips for camping with families

Beach day preparation: When staying at Biloxi Bay RV Resort, families should pack for full beach days. "Very Nice resort! Very clean!" reports Matt W., though families should note that beach supplies, shade structures, and water toys aren't provided by campgrounds and should be brought along.

Look for pool access: Several campgrounds offer swimming alternatives to the Gulf. "The place was really quiet, honestly wish we would have seen more campers out of their campers but if you don't want to be bugged this is the place. It was clean, nice pool, nice lots," writes Sonja about Southern Comfort Camping Resort. Pools provide safer swimming options for younger children than the open Gulf waters.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Kids often enjoy spotting local animals. "Safe area for kids, adults, and pets. You're guaranteed to see some pretty cool wildlife and sunsets!" mentions Kaylin R. about Davis Bayou Campground. Bringing binoculars and wildlife identification guides can enhance these experiences for children.

Tips from RVers

Hookup variations: Majestic Oaks RV Resort receives high marks for utility connections. "Nice places to walk a dog and even a place to let them run. Really nice laundry facilities. Bath room/showers we some of the best I have seen!" shares robin F., highlighting amenities particularly valuable to long-term RVers.

Site leveling considerations: Many reviewers note elevation issues at some parks. "Sites were tight and overlapping, a little uneven, and about 4 inches unlevel," reports Brittany V. about Oaklawn RV Park. Bringing additional leveling blocks or equipment is recommended for most area campgrounds.

Storm preparation: The Gulf location means RVers should have evacuation plans during hurricane season. Most campgrounds have policies requiring departure when evacuations are ordered. Having easy-to-access important documents and knowing evacuation routes is essential for RV camping in this region.
