One camper noted, "Lebanon Hills is a beautiful county park only a few minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul. The park streets and sites are asphalt. The site included picnic table on grass and fire ring with electric and water located in the rear."

    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Ann Lake

    Rustic & Family Friendly

This is a great little rustic campground within an hour's drive of the Twin Cities! It has several potable water sources throughout the campground, but no running water for toilets or showers. There are several vault toilets. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. You can buy firewood & ice at the Sand Dunes Stop gas station, just a 10 minutes drive away.

This is a first-come, first-served campground, so no reservations required. This does mean that there is a chance you won't be able to get a site, but I've only had that happen one time when I got there at 6pm on a Saturday. There are usually sites available.

I love going to this campground - it's family friendly, and there is a swimming beach a quick 3 minute drive away! The hiking trails aren't half bad, either! I love coming here to relax for a weekend, spend some time at the beach, and just enjoy nature. If you go in the early to mid summer, you'll also hear local whip-poor-wills serenade you to sleep.

Overall, 4 stars. The only downsides are no running water and no ice & firewood at the campground itself.

    Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    Tresure Island RV Park

    It’s a parking lot…

We are here for a show at the casino and thought it would be fun to bring the camper down and glamp for the weekend. It is just a parking lot but the sites are all pull through and there is plenty of room between sites and ours was perfectly level.

We have dogs so the fact that it’s all asphalt and rock is a bit of a bummer but we are close to the exercise area and they do love little walks. It also seems to be controlling some of the normal bad pet parent behavior we see at even parks. Like letting the dogs run with out leashes or tethering them all day to bark at everything.

The sites do not have fire rings but there are some community ones and it appears the other campers brought their own smokeless fire pits to use.

There is a shuttle to the casino and at 7pm folks seemed to clear out to head over. It was honestly one of the quietest campgrounds we’ve been to on a Friday night.

The bath house is newer and super clean- not a single creepy spider web in any corners.

On Verizon I have full bars so we haven’t tried the park WiFi but we’ve been able to use our chrome cast and two iPads off my cell phone with zero issues. Because it’s in a river valley the air tv single is terrible so we are glad to have the chrome cast with us- since the forecast called for a raining day.

    Minneapolis Northwest KOA

    Good Campground but Close Sites

Sites are close to each other, but easy access, clean grounds and facilities, friendly staff, and a K9 fenced area for a pet friendly campground.

    Tresure Island RV Park

    No frills, well-maintained, and clean

This is a typical casino parking lot RV "park" with full hookups. It is basically a parking lot with mostly pull through sites. The last row consists of "deluxe" back-in sites with a few trees. That being said, it is well maintained, the sites are level, the park was clean, and the utilities were in good working order. It was quite and easy to get in and out of. The shower house was adequate as well. We would stay here again. We camped at Treasure Island RV Park in a Motorhome.

Guide to Osseo

Campsites near Osseo, Minnesota offer a mix of wooded terrain and riverside options within 50 miles of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The region experiences humid summers with temperatures averaging 80°F from June through August, making water activities particularly popular at campgrounds with river access. Most campgrounds in the area operate seasonally from late April through mid-October due to the harsh Minnesota winters.

What to do

River tubing and canoeing: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River provides equipment rentals for water activities. "Large sites. Great tubing and canoeing," notes camper Rory T. The river has a "clean and sandy bottom" according to another reviewer, making it ideal for summer water recreation.

Swimming options: Country Camping RV Park in Isanti features a heated pool and splash pad for families. As reviewer Beasty B. states, "It was fantastic great playground and heated pool the spaces were well kept and spaced apart 10-10 would most defiantly go again! A ton for the kids to do!"

Hiking and biking trails: Baker Campground - Baker Park Reserve offers extensive paved trails around lakes for cycling enthusiasts. A camper mentions, "There are nice paved trails around a couple of lakes/ponds for biking, and easy access to the shower and bathroom facilities." The park also connects to other regional trails, expanding recreational possibilities.

What campers like

Spacious sites: St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park provides campers with ample room to spread out. "This a nice family campground. It has a 9 hole mini golf, shuffleboard, salt water pool, and a lobby/gift shop," notes reviewer S L. The natural setting includes "mature trees. Cedars, white oaks, hickory's and more."

Clean facilities: St. Cloud Campground & RV Park maintains well-kept shower houses and grounds. "This campground is well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The shower house was clean," states Jody M. Another camper notes, "Campground is very nice, with shade and open areas. Sites are well maintained as are the showers and restrooms."

Entertainment options: Many campgrounds near Osseo provide recreational amenities beyond natural attractions. Cokato Lake RV Resort includes "Heated pool, lake with beach, boat launch area just block away, tennis/pickle ball, mini golf, resort store with ice cream," according to Alan V., providing activities regardless of weather conditions.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most rv sites near Osseo, Minnesota require advance booking, especially during peak summer weekends. Dakotah Meadows RV Park fills quickly despite having approximately 100 concrete pads. As one camper states, "We lucked out and were able to stay 2 nights without reservations...only had to move because they were fully booked for the 4th."

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds open in May and close by mid-October. St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park operates from May 3 to October 13, while Baker Park Reserve runs from April 30 to October 20, giving campers limited windows for visits.

Connectivity issues: Wifi quality varies significantly across campgrounds. At St. Cloud Campground, a camper reports, "Host stated that the wifi was weak but since there were not a lot of campers we should be alright. We were unable to even get a signal!" Cellular coverage can also be spotty depending on location and carrier.

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated play areas: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River offers significant child-friendly amenities. "It's has a heated pool, splash pad area, BIG playground area, indoor game room, HUGE sites!" reports Spencer C., making it suitable for families with children of various ages.

Consider noise levels: Some campgrounds have strict quiet hours while others allow more activity. Barbara B. notes about Country Camping, "I give it a 4 star only because twice I ran into the same group of people that thought it was ok to open up their vehicle doors and blast music well into the night. Owner warned them the first time but quiet time isn't until 11 pm."

Check swimming options: Baker Park Reserve provides beach access for families. "There are 2 swimming beaches: 1 for the campground and one for all of the day visitors," reports Jennifer H., allowing families separate swimming areas from day-use visitors.

Tips from RVers

Site surface variations: RV sites near Osseo, Minnesota range from gravel to concrete pads. Town & Country Campground offers paved sites but limited space. "Very tight quarters on roads and sites. There is a game room and a small pool. Only a little space for one vehicle but overflow parking isn't terrible if you're close to office," reports Claire M.

Power considerations: During peak summer heat, electrical systems at some campgrounds may be strained. David G. from Country Camping notes, "Had one issue with power dropping so we had to pull the surge protector off... it was fine. Also very hot and humid so everyone was running AC to the max."

Year-round options: While most campgrounds close seasonally, Town & Country Campground operates year-round for RVers needing winter accommodations. The park is "clean, friendly, and convenient to the cities. Some road noise, but you are in the city so expected," according to David E.
