Sterling State Park Campground, Lake Hudson Recreation Area, and Wilderness Campground also accommodate pets with varying amenities. Most sites include fire rings, picnic tables, and access to potable water, while designated pet areas allow for exercise. Some campgrounds have size restrictions or limit the number of pets per site. Sites at Monroe-Toledo North KOA can be cramped with limited space between neighboring campers, particularly during busy weekends and holiday periods.
Hiking trails and water access points suitable for pets are available at Lake Hudson Recreation Area and W.J. Hayes State Park. The Indian Creek Camp & Conference Center and Harbortown RV Resort provide pet-friendly accommodations with nearby walking paths. When camping with pets in the Deerfield area, owners should prepare for varying weather conditions, especially during spring and fall. Some campgrounds have quiet hours that apply to barking dogs, and waste disposal stations are provided at most locations. Several campgrounds enforce strict visitor policies that apply to guests bringing additional pets. Nearby veterinary services are available in Monroe and Adrian for emergency pet care. We really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Delivered our firewood right to our site. Lots of shade trees, beautiful well groomed trails for walking. Even a dog park, which our Golden Retriever really enjoyed.
Nice Park Nice park for full timers. Large spots to accommodate big rigs and kids. Full hook ups. Cell service great with Verizon hotspot(22u, 20d, 38ms and AT&T cell(27d, 20u, 27ms). Playgrounds everywhere for the kids. Giant dog park and ponds. Pool was closed. Just needs more grass. Our spot was really patchy and resulted in a lot of mud. Great campground with polite and helpful staff. Don’t pass this one up.

We have been here a few times. Really enjoy the secluded sites and the lake. It’s a small campground but it’s clean and quiet. Most sites don’t have water hookups but they do have electric. There isn’t much to do outside of the campground but there is a nice lake with canoe and kayak rentals. Very pet friendly and even has a dog beach.
They offer campsites full hookups pet friendly
They offer electric only no pets they offer campsites no pets.
They have a tent only section.
They have a beach, tennis courts, children's playground, rustic cabins, they have a recreation field Kids Activities arts and crafts!!! They have 16 resort cabins, this place is HUGH
Bathrooms were dated and we arrived Monday after Labor Day so I can't judge them. They had a FULL HOUSE on Labor Day per the front gate. I was very impressed there was no garbage at campsites and picked up very well.
GREAT biking trails you can catch on premise and bike over to Kensington and to the charming town of Milford
Nice lakes for swimming and can take your pet as well! Big playground and nice bathrooms
The camping area is nice. It is a little open for our like but there good activities you can do with the kids or pets.
Sites and restrooms were alright, think it is ridiculous to pay extra each night for each pet and children, too many other campgrounds in our area that are more updated and reasonably priced.
Pet friendly camping near Deerfield, Michigan tends to fill up quickly during summer months from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The terrain surrounding Deerfield features gently rolling hills with elevations ranging from 650 to 750 feet above sea level. Average summer temperatures reach 82°F in July with higher humidity levels that can make evenings feel warmer than expected around campfires.
Beach activities on Lake Erie: Sterling State Park Campground offers a sandy beach with swimming access. "Sandy beach on Lake Erie is very nice," notes Joe S., who found the "shower house is clean and in good condition." The park also has fishing piers and kayak launches for water activities.
Fishing opportunities: Lake Hudson Recreation Area provides excellent fishing from both shore and boat. "The lake is big and quiet," reports Michelle M., who enjoyed kayaking on the water. The recreation area is designated as a dark sky preserve, making it ideal for stargazing after fishing. "Holy Stars!! The best part of this campground is the stars at night!" she adds.
Hiking trails: W.J. Hayes State Park Campground offers a mile-long nature trail through wooded areas. "It has a nice little mile nature trail through one of those loops," says Alex H., who also appreciated the "nice dog run that we took advantage of." The trails are well-maintained and suitable for all skill levels.
Private campsites: Lake Hudson Recreation Area sites offer significant privacy with natural barriers. "The sites are huge and private with tree growth separating each site," according to Michelle M. Jennie S. agrees, noting "My site is HUGE. It is private!" This makes it ideal for pet owners seeking some separation from other campers.
Campground activities: Monroe-Toledo North KOA offers numerous family activities, particularly during Halloween weekends. "I've been going to this campground for years, but mainly for the Halloween camping," says Ryan M., who explains that "Most sites decorate and some site go all out with haunted houses. The campground puts on a lot of activities for the kids."
Swimming options: Wilderness Campground provides a dedicated swimming area separate from fishing areas. "It's nice the swimming hole and fishing pond are separated," notes Miranda D., who found the bathrooms "always clean and the newer ones are very nice." This separation helps pet owners keep their dogs away from fishing lines and hooks.
Site spacing variations: While some campgrounds offer spacious sites, others can be quite tight. At Harbortown RV Resort, Trent T. found that "We have a 21' camper and the sites feel small." This contrasts with more spacious options at other campgrounds in the area.
Noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby transportation. Trent T. also notes that Harbortown RV Resort is "close to the expressway which is noisy and there are trains that go by during the night. There must be a few crossings near by because they blew the horn for 5+ minutes at 4:30am."
Water availability: Access to water varies between campgrounds. At Lake Hudson Recreation Area, Steven S. found that "There was only 1 hand pump that I saw for all the campers to get water from." Campers should plan accordingly and bring water containers when staying at more rustic sites.
Off-peak visits: For a quieter experience with pets, consider camping on weekdays. At Wilderness Campground, Beth G. recommends timing your visit: "I'm hoping we get back this year!! Owners seemed great, campground well maintained, nice large clean lake for swimming and another area for fishing right from our site."
Budget considerations: Costs for activities beyond camping can add up quickly. At Indian Creek Camp & Conference Center, Kourtney D. notes "you have to pay extra for everything including putt putt. You have to buy your golf balls." However, the campground offers "free kid activities" which can help balance the budget.
Pet-specific amenities: Some campgrounds offer designated pet areas. Alex H. appreciated that W.J. Hayes State Park "has a nice dog run that we took advantage of." This provides a safe space for pets to exercise off-leash within designated boundaries.
Site selection: Choose sites based on your needs for shade or sun exposure. At W.J. Hayes State Park, Miranda J. suggests "sites 93-96 for more private/shaded sites," which can be important when camping with pets that need to stay cool in summer heat.
Electrical hookups: Check electrical cord length requirements when booking. Jennie S. notes that at Lake Hudson Recreation Area, "You will need the long cord if you plan on using electricity." This is especially important for RVers who need to power air conditioning for pets during hot days.
Campsite access: River Raisin Canoe Livery & Campground offers different site types suitable for various RV sizes. Phillip S. explains that "9 and 17 are the 'pullthru' sites" while also noting that site "16 was great on the water but still some good shade. Mostly flat." He recommends site 11 as "a great spot in the corner as far away from the house and entrance as you can get."
