Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Brimfield, MA

Village Green Family Campground and Quinebaug Cove Campground offer pet-friendly accommodations near Brimfield, with clean facilities and established pet policies. Both campgrounds maintain designated pet areas where dogs must remain leashed throughout the property. Village Green features safari-style sites in an open field with limited tree cover, while Quinebaug Cove provides lakeside campsites with beach access suitable for pets. The sites are properly spaced to accommodate campers with animals, though Quinebaug Cove's lake has mercury warnings that pet owners should consider before allowing dogs near the water.

Several hiking trails connect to these campgrounds, providing excellent exercise opportunities for dogs. Partridge Hollow Campground offers additional pet-friendly options with well-maintained grounds and good WiFi coverage for checking nearby veterinary services. Most campgrounds in the area have a pet limit of two animals per site and require proof of rabies vaccination at check-in. Sunset View Farms provides family-friendly accommodations with a swimming pond, fishing stream, and multiple playgrounds where leashed pets can join their owners. The campground roads contain numerous potholes, requiring careful navigation when walking dogs, especially at night. Local wildlife observations make keeping pets secured essential, particularly during early morning and evening hours.

    Waters Edge Family Campground

    Incredible campground

Most amazing weekend with tons of woods (privacy is huge for us). Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We’ve been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park. Every one of us had a great time with the perfect campsite deep in the woods (still able to park my 26’ camper trailer). Swimming pool, great playground, among lots of trails and wooded area surrounding almost every site. Best camping weekends we’ve ever had have been at Waters Edge.

    Wilderness Lake Park

    Really enjoyed our time here

Quaint little campground. Not many tenting sites but along a beautiful lake. Pets allowed. Bathrooms close by 10, something to keep in mind. And they’re cash or check only! Taylor Pond is not far and a great hike to bring both kids and pets. This campground was perfect for us and our dog. Bring your own kayaks or use the campgrounds free of charge.

    Normandy Farms Campground

This is what Glamping was made for

First things first- no bugs!! That’s right I didn’t know what I was missing till I notice I wasn’t getting bit alive by mosquitoes!!! They spray for them!!! So you can enjoy the outside without the pesky bites that come with camping!

Then of course there is the luxury of having two pools, a ton of fun activities for kids, (fishing , dog park, horseshoes, tennis, basketball, etc)! It’s probably my favorite spot in New England merely for all the luxuries that come with this site!!!

Plus you are close to Gillette and shopping!! Can get better then that!

    Whispering Pines Campground

    Great family campground

We stayed for 3 nights, the sites and camp were very clean and well maintained. Everyone was very friendly, lots of things to do - pool, bocce, volleyball, horseshoes, arcade, a small field to play frisbee or ball, mini-golf (mini-golf landscape needs to be refreshed a bit) there is even a very small fenced in dog park which was nice if you want to let your dog off leash to play. We did not experience any screaming kids all night.

    Normandy Farms Campground

    A great place to stay!

I’ve been coming here with my family for years and it’s always a great time. Very clean camp sites, bathrooms and showers, roads, and playgrounds...all public areas are immaculate. Lots of activities for kids, teens, and adults. Great dog park. Sites are large and level and free from low hanging branches. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Normandy Farms Campground. You won’t be disappointed.

    Normandy Farms Campground

    A true 5 star campground!

There is NOTHING you could want and not have at this campground/RV resort!  The family that runs it are at it 24/7 so you have the time of your life.  Many pools and one is adults only, there are all kinds of activities every weekend day.  Ball field, dog park, it has every thing including smiles!!  I actually store my rig here so I see the cleanliness of this park and the care that goes out to all campers!!

    Pine Acres Family Camping Resort

Great spot in the middle of nowhere

Miles and miles of country/forests surrounding pine acres, however pulling in you’ll soon realize how much goes on inside the campground. AWESOME pools (very kid friendly), parks, dog park, hiking trails and even sections off of the trails to find your own private beach on the water. Went there in a tent rather than our camper, which turned out to be better. Tent sites were very dispersed and way up on the top of the mountain. Camper sites seemed a little close but worth the sacrifice due to the incredible environment. On the more expensive side but worth the money if you have kids. Another big plus was the abundance of wood to get from fallen trees (not having to pay for the expensive bundles at the store) and the size of the fire pits

What to do

Hiking trails access: Wells State Park Campground offers direct access to the hiking trails surrounding Walker Pond, with a popular trail system for all skill levels. "There are no hook-ups here, but the sites are large, well spaced, and shaded. Great little swimming lake as well as a popular hiking trail," notes Cliff M. about Wells State Park.

Lake activities: Pine Acres Family Camping Resort provides multiple water recreation options with both pools and lake access. "Great pools (very kid friendly), parks, dog park, hiking trails and even sections off of the trails to find your own private beach on the water," shares Rob L. about Pine Acres, which offers fishing, swimming, and kayaking opportunities within the property.

Free water recreation: Wilderness Lake Park in nearby Willington, Connecticut offers complimentary water equipment for guests. "Beautiful views, spacious site and lots to do. They even had free kayaks/canoes for the lake," says Rob L., highlighting an affordable recreation option just 25 minutes from Brimfield.

What campers like

Updated facilities: Wells State Park receives consistent praise for its renovated amenities. "Wells State Park camp grounds recently got new bathrooms and they are so clean! The campsites are a nice size to drive your car up to and still have ample tent/picnic table/fire space," mentions Lauren C. The park maintains modern shower facilities while preserving its natural setting.

Spacious camping areas: Wilderness Lake Park offers secluded tent sites away from RV areas. "While this is about 60% RVs, the tent sites are great. The host gave us a secluded spot in the back to the point I didn't feel like I was at a campground other than the fire ring," explains Robert L., noting the property's balance between privacy and amenities.

River access: Charlie Brown Campground provides waterfront sites along the Natchaug River. "We chose the best spot for our first camping trip with our new travel trailer. If you go to Charlie Brown's request a site by the water," recommends Ron C., highlighting the campground's natural water features that provide cooling relief during summer months.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds near Brimfield operate seasonally. "Went camping in August 22', couldn't have fire due to drought but otherwise a pleasant experience," notes Ryan W. about Wells State Park, referencing potential fire restrictions during dry periods that typically occur in late summer.

Varied terrain: Sites at many campgrounds feature uneven ground. "Not all sites are level," warns Ryan C. about Wells State Park, suggesting campers bring leveling blocks for RVs or carefully select tent locations.

Environmental concerns: Quinebaug Cove Campground has water quality issues visitors should know about. "We heard the lake was full of mercury and not to go swimming there, but since it was a quick stopover for us we didn't see the lake," mentions Rachel C., indicating an important safety consideration for those planning water activities.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly scheduling: Brialee Family Campground offers organized activities for children throughout the day. "The campground offers activities pretty much hourly for kids and adults to enjoy. Along with a pool, they also have a beach and a separate beach for dogs," describes Mallory P., noting Brialee's extensive family programming.

Multiple play areas: Sturbridge RV Resort maintains various recreation options on-site. "Running showers and flushable bathroom was very close. I dinged a star from this review because I have seen campgrounds with cleaner bathrooms," reports John C., highlighting the convenience of facilities despite some cleanliness concerns.

Dog friendly options: Several campgrounds welcome pets with designated areas. "Great for kids and pets. We love taking the dog to the dog beach for a swim," shares Rob G. about Pine Acres, one of several dog friendly campgrounds near Brimfield that provide specific pet amenities like swimming areas.

Tips from RVers

Accessibility considerations: Some campgrounds have challenging approach roads. "The way in is very twisty and hilly. Was a challenge for our 33' towing a car but we made it!" notes Nancy about Partridge Hollow Campground, providing important information for those with larger rigs.

Hookup options: Campgrounds offer varying levels of services. "There was no full service sewer hook up, only gray water. There was a dump station," explains Dave B. about Brialee, indicating RVers should verify specific hookup availability when booking.

Site spacing: RV sites vary considerably in size and privacy. "Pretty tight to maneuver bigger rigs. Sites are small-ish, but they work," advises Steve K. about Pine Acres, suggesting careful site selection for larger vehicles.
