The climate in this part of Louisiana creates distinct seasonal considerations for campers. Humidity and insects can be prevalent during summer months, with many campgrounds offering swimming pools for relief from the heat. "This place is for people who like fishing. They have 5 fishing lakes here and every spot is on the lake," notes one camper about Poche's RV Park. Facilities generally remain open year-round, with winter offering milder conditions for outdoor activities. Most campgrounds require reservations, especially during weekends and summer months. Roads to campgrounds are typically paved or improved gravel, making them accessible for large rigs and travel trailers. Fishing emerges as a primary attraction at many Breaux Bridge area campgrounds, particularly at Poche's where several ponds are stocked for catch-and-release fishing without requiring a license. Campers frequently mention water-based activities and swimming pools as highlights, with Camp Margaritaville featuring multiple pools including an adults-only pool with swim-up bar. Several reviews indicate that weekends tend to be busier and livelier than weekdays. Family amenities are prevalent, with playgrounds, splash pads, and scheduled activities for children mentioned in feedback. Despite being developed campgrounds, many sites maintain a connection to natural surroundings with lakefront positioning. Site spacing varies by property, with some reviews noting tight quarters at certain campgrounds while others offer more privacy.

      Lafayette KOA

      Great campground, near city amenities

Our very first camping trip was at this KOA. 2 swimming pools. It's close to the city of Scott: food, drink, shopping. We enjoyed our stay for July 4th weekend. Saw fireworks without having to leave our spot!

      Lakeview Park

"Beach" music & fun. Great place to visit

We love Lakeview! Country feel, away from the city. Man made beach (COLD but you get used to it), huge land balloon used as a giant trampoline, golf cart rentals, and weekend music. It has it all. Relax or enjoy doing things you love to do!

      Sherburne WMA

Great free spot. Easy gravel road access.

As stated before, this small campground is also a public shooting range. The range was occupied from 7am to 7pm the day I stayed. A vault toilet is available at the entrance. The sites are decently maintained and you can access the water from most.

      Frog City RV Park

      Okay

Management is exceedingly nice. Other campers appear to be extremely rude. I’ve had seven people walk right alongside my RV and I only set up about an hour ago.

      Cypremort Point State Park Campground

      A hidden jewel

They have only had RV camping for about 4 years. Drive-Thru concrete pads with full hookup. Very clean and nice. Cool breeze in February and a very quiet place. Wi-Fi is weak and we have not tried the showers or restroom. Once this place is discovered it will be hard to get a campsite unless you reserve ahead of time.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground

      Beautiful state park

We camped here in late february, and the park is absolutely beautiful. Restrooms are clean, hot showers and nicely spaced sights. Driveway was flat and level.

      Frog City RV Park

      Great place to stay

Full hookups, shower, pool, dog park for $45 on I-10. Bonus is that they have a full breakfast for you on weekends. One review said the sites were small, but they're not. They're average size.

    What to do

Fishing for all skill levels: Poche's RV Park & Fish-N-Camp offers multiple stocked fishing lakes without requiring a license. "Short stay or long stay?? They are great for either. We stayed for 6 days. Loved the fishing. Love the site. Loved the people. We cannot wait to come back here," reports one camper. The private lakes provide catch-and-release opportunities for both beginners and experienced anglers.

Enjoy live entertainment: Weekend performances add local flavor to many campgrounds in the area. At Cajun Heritage RV Park, "They have live entertainment on Saturday nights and installed a new security system," notes a regular visitor. Music typically starts around 7 PM during peak season.

Explore local waterways: The nearby Atchafalaya Basin provides opportunities for kayaking and canoeing. "We canoed in the Shake Your Trail Feather festival on Bayou Teche. The RV park was close the the canoe trailhead. Take the time to explore the city of Breaux Bridge," suggests a visitor who stayed at Poche's RV Park.

    What campers like

Multiple swimming options: Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge offers extensive water features appreciated by visitors. "How can you hate 3 pools with swim up bars, a giant hot tub and a well manicured park? Park really opens April 1 but we needed a taste of summer and we found it here," says one reviewer who visited during the off-season.

Spacious campsites: Several RV parks offer generous spacing between sites. At Bayou Wilderness RV Campground, "The park is exceptionally well maintained. The pool is nice and there is a playground next to the pool. The Laundry/Bath House is clean and the bathrooms are modern." Most sites feature full hookups with concrete pads.

Recreational facilities: Campgrounds in the area often feature multiple amenities for entertainment. "They host a ton of activities for the family, fishing, swimming, go cart racing and even nightly entertainment for the adults," notes a visitor about Camp Margaritaville, while another mentions that "Movie theater, small game room, tiki bar, lots of activities and play areas for the kids, and the pools are nice."

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Weather patterns affect camping experiences throughout the year. "We go here every three or four months but they have made several improvements since the last time," notes a regular visitor to Poche's, suggesting year-round operation with ongoing facility upgrades. Winter months (November through February) offer milder temperatures in the 60s-70s°F range.

Road conditions: Access to campgrounds varies by location. "The only bad thing for which I only gave a 4 star is the road leading to the camp grounds are very bumpy and need to be re-paved," reports a visitor to Camp Margaritaville, indicating some access roads may require careful driving.

Site differences: Parkside RV Park sites have specific features to consider when booking. "The spaces are all level, paved, and long and wide enough to fit your RV and two vehicles. The water, sewer and electrical are all new and work!" One reviewer adds, "You'll need a long sewer hose; the sewer hook ups are at the very back of the site."

    Tips for camping with families

Children's amenities: Facilities designed specifically for kids vary by campground. "Plenty of trees and shade. Big, open spaces! Was pretty easy to back in with our 41 foot 5th wheel," notes a family at Cajun Heritage RV Park. Another campground visitor mentions, "They have a big park. I bet is even nicer in summer time with all the water around!"

Playground options: Several campgrounds feature play areas for children. "Beautiful grounds and very friendly people. Tons of activities for kids and adults! Pet friendly! And each site is set up great and all the grounds are clean!" reports a family who stayed at Poche's.

Activity scheduling: Weekend activities often differ from weekday offerings. "We will be back! Love the friendly family party vibe this campground has! Beautiful amenities. We were there outside of pool season but there were bands and activities every weekend!" notes a visitor to Camp Margaritaville.
