    Parkside RV Park

Very Pleasant for Cajun Country Visit

We stayed 4 nights at Parkside RV and found it to be very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean, the showers reasonably hot, and the wifi was strong. Our site was paved and level and had 20-50 amp hookups and fresh water. The campground manager, Eddie, was very friendly and helpful and gave us some good tips on getting into Lafayette for the Mardis Gras parade (an excellent experience btw) and for a local lunch spot in St. Martinville (the plate lunch special at Joyce’s Market). We visited the Tabasco factory on Avery island, took a swamp boat ride in Breaux Bridge, the Acadian and African American History Museums in St. Martinville, and Lafayette, all within a 30 minute drive of the campground. The price was $45 per night.

    Poche's RV Park & Fish-N-Camp

Nice RV park. Convenient for canoeing in Bayou Teche.

Poches RV park is nice, well maintained, and has number of amenities. We had a wonderful weekend stay, and the weather was perfect. We canoed in the Shake Your Trail Feather festival on Bayou Teche. The RV park was close the the canoe trailhead. Take the time to explore the city of Breaux Bridge.

Go to Poches Market and buy some pork sausage stuffed with jalapeos. Also, be sure to make a reservation and go eat at Little Big Cup in Arnaudville about 15 minutes away.

Stayed in campsite#69. Back-in site with concrete parking, picnic table, and fire ring. 15A/30A/50A, water, and sewer hookups. It has a nice grass area with fire pit in the rear of the site next to the lake. Not much shade in the campsite. The site is located on the lake. Neighbors were pretty close. Roads in the park were asphalt or gravel. The free WiFi throughout the park was adequate for checking emails, surfing the web, etc. We camped in a Travel Trailer. Would stay here again. We camped at Poche's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

    Chases RV Park

    New management

Don’t let a former bad review chase (pun) you off from this campground. It’s clean and roomy with full hookups for $28 a night. The staff a friendly and helpful. It’s quiet, safe and has a new playground. We don’t have little kids and wish it were a dog park but realistic the world doesn’t revolve around us.

Short stay or long stay?? They are great for either. We stayed for 6 days. Loved the fishing. Love the site. Loved the people. We cannot wait to come back here. Sewer, electric, and water worked perfect. Dog park. Laundry was spotless. Crazy Cajuns get rowdy on weekends at the clubhouse. Join them you won’t regret it. If anything watch for amazing sunsets and sunrises!

    Lafayette KOA

    Clean, Great for Families

This was our first trip to Lafayette KOA and just our third time camping in our new-to-us travel trailer. My overall impression is that the park is very well maintained, has attentive staff and many activities. We didn’t care for how the sites were so close together. Luckily we didn’t have neighbors to the right of us. Because if we did, their cables and sewage hose would be right outside our door. We had our dog with us so the gravel wasn’t ideal. The tent sites were not located right next to the bathhouse. It’s not a horrible walk, but it’s a lot closer to the majority of the RV sites. They do have a set of restrooms right across from the tents though. We did a little fishing. The ponds were stocked. The water was clear so we could see them, but they were not dumb. We lost a lot of worms, and we only caught three tiny fish. We don’t have kids, but this would have been a great place to take your family. Activities include Mini golf ($), Kayaks ($), paddle boats ($), two pools, pool table in the game room, playground, and a small dog park. We had some strong winds the first night, and our awning ended up getting damaged. I called the front desk, and they sent out maintenance right away to help. The office has a shop with fishing supplies, groceries, RV supplies, and gifts. It’s conveniently located near a grocery store, gas stations, and fast food places. Billy’s Boudin was a quick walk away. There is noise from I-10 and from the nearby train tracks, but it’s not too bad. We’ll definitely be back, but would like to try a different site/area next time!

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge

    Super fun place to be

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground

    So many employees

So many employees yet the bathrooms were dirty and trash was on the ground. Many bbq stands were broken and tent pads under water. Otherwise, camp was good. Way off the beaten path, quiet, spacious, lots of water which means lots of mosquitoes. Camp host had pet off leash so rules are not followed. Great discounts for military.

Loved the fishing. Love the site. Loved the people. We cannot wait to come back here." The fishing experience has improved over time, with James R. noting, "Their fishing has gotten better. They have live entertainment on Saturday nights and installed a new security system."

Visit St. Julien Park: Parkside RV Park sits adjacent to St. Julien Park, providing easy walking access to recreational facilities. A reviewer mentions, "St. Julien Park offers bathrooms, free WIFI, drinking fountains, walking trails, dog waste stations, disc golf, catch and release ponds, security camera and several areas for locals to play sports. It's a very well-kept park!"

Explore local Cajun culture: Acadiana Park Campground offers nature trails and a nearby nature center for learning about local ecosystems. Brian M. reports, "While not the best kept up park, the attached nature center, miles of paths, and nearby attractions make this a recurring stop for us. The price is great, as well."

What campers like

Pool with slides: Bayou Wilderness RV Resort offers refreshing water activities during hot Louisiana summers. Mark J. notes, "Nice campground. Clean bathhouse. Nice pool with water slides. Close to Lafayette with shopping and restaurants."

Spacious, shaded sites: Cajun Heritage RV Park provides camping areas with good separation between neighbors. Mary F. reports, "This camp is perfect for us! We have two dogs so green space is important-check. It is hot so a lot of shade trees are important-check. Not stacked in like cordwood-check. This camp is really lovely and provides a lot of space between campsites."

Live entertainment: Weekend activities at several campgrounds include organized events and music. At Poche's RV Park, Jeff T. mentioned, "Crazy Cajuns get rowdy on weekends at the clubhouse. Join them you won't regret it. If anything watch for amazing sunsets and sunrises!" Many campgrounds host regular weekend entertainment, especially during peak season.

What you should know

Water quality varies: Some campgrounds have water quality issues requiring filtration. At Cajun Heritage RV Park, Taylor G. advised, "Tip: Make sure to have a water filter on your camper for this one." Similarly, at Acadiana Park, Bonnie D. warned, "Bring your own water. Something is wrong with the water there. It smells and tastes weird. Don't know if it's the pipes or what, but it's nasty."

Highway noise: Several campgrounds sit near highways, creating noise concerns. At Maxie's Campground, Laura M. observed, "Sites are all back in, and on the freeway, so it's very loud." William M. simply stated, "There is noise from the highway next-door."

Wildlife presence: Raccoons and insects are common in this region. At Acadiana Park, one reviewer mentioned, "lots of raccoons, so keep your food inside if you don't want to have to buy more!" During summer months, mosquitoes can be particularly intense near water features.

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. At Frog City RV Park, Pat & Amanda D. cautioned, "Only thing we noticed that needs work is the small playground. I thought our kids would tip the whole thing over while swinging!" Norrie W. added, "Nice play ground for children. Beautiful walking/biking trail around the large pond."

Swimming opportunities: For hot summer days, look for campgrounds with pools. Jessica B. reported about Camp Margaritaville, "Movie theater, small game room, tiki bar, lots of activities and play areas for the kids, and the pools are nice. Fishing in the ponds is fun but don't expect too much as they are very small."

Off-peak timing: Weekends get crowded at most pet friendly camping near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Cat R. warned about Camp Margaritaville, "This is one of the busiest RV campgrounds in South Louisiana. Be sure that you have reservations well in advance... Downside is people love to party and be loud. Kids galore, so be careful of them riding golf carts every where!"

Tips from RVers

Leveling considerations: Pad quality varies across campgrounds. At Lafayette KOA, John N. shared, "We enjoyed a weekend without RV backed up to the pond. Cement lots with fire circle of metal. Be careful though in picking your spots because some are in the way back and have no trees, which could be brutal in a Louisiana summer."

Utility placement: At Parkside RV Park, Erika P. advised, "You'll need a long sewer hose; the sewer hook ups are at the very back of the site." David M. commented on Camp Margaritaville, "Hook up sights cater to 30 and 50 amp with sewer and water. Concrete pads were very nice and I didn't hardly have to do much to level my camper."

Reservation timing: For pet-friendly camping near Breaux Bridge, advance planning is essential during peak seasons. James R. mentioned about Frog City RV Park, "The first thing you encounter is the super friendly and helpful staff. The campground is level well maintained and a perfect spot to stop when traveling on I-10 in Louisiana."
