Farr Park RV Campground in Baton Rouge offers water and electric hookups with no sewer connections at individual sites, though a dump station is available. Easy to get to," noted one visitor who appreciated the proximity to LSU. Maxie's Campground

    Basic and nice

Stayed here with the Passport America discount and paid $23 for a 30 amp FHU site, so roughly double that for the full price. 50 amp is a bit more. Sites are all back in, and on the freeway, so it’s very loud. The website directs you to book your site online, but when we tried to do that, every single site showed as being available, which didn’t seem right to me, so we decided to just drive to the park first. Office was closed when we arrived (owners were at church), so we drove through the park, found an open site, found that site on their website, paid, and pulled in and set up. Owners pulled up to greet us and welcome us when they returned from church so I guess how we did it was fine.

Park is very basic, but nice. Free hot showers, nice laundry room ($4 for wash, $1.50 for dry- expensive but the machines are bigger than normal). There’s also a coke vending machine. Dumpster here but no recycling. Park offers free wifi but my Kaspersky internet security didn’t like something about it (doesn’t usually alert me when I use public wifi), so I just used my cell phone hotspot. Good cell service with ATT and Verizon.

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge

    Super fun place to be

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

    Lakeside RV Park

    Lakeside RV

We have stayed here almost two weeks while downsizing to a smaller home. This place is very well maintained, and the pool and playground areas are in excellent condition. We did not use the showers/ bathrooms but the laundry area was in clean and machines seemed new. The grounds were well manicured, there is a large pond/small lake with a walking path around half of it. There are a few pull through site but the back-Ins have the better views. They have 30 & 50 amp, water and sewer connections. Fairly level and long concrete pads. They are strict about the 5mph speed limit and thankfully so.

    Farr Park RV Camground

One of the better RV parks in BR Area

One of the better RV parks in the BR area (there's not many close to town).  Has electric and water hookups, but no sewer hookup.  The Mississippi River is nearby. There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge.  It is only 3 miles from LSU campus.  Some people stay here to tailgate for LSU football games.

Farr Park is part of the Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation system.  It is also an equestrian (horse) center.  There are stables and riding arenas near the campground.

There is a dump station available.  The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level.  This creates sags in your hose.  Also, there is no way to secure or screw in your connection to the sump station.  The station does have a concrete pad and non-potable water.  You can use the dump station for free if you are a camper.  Non-campers can pay a $10 fee to dump.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Spacious with Horse Views

This campground is so romantic with coral sunsets and country vibes. Spots are spacious and not crowded so you can spread out. Great paths for walking. Its hot but the bugs are not overwhelming. Close to the college and downtown. Perfect views of the horses I could watch them all day. 30/50 amp electric, water, pull through sites. No sewage but there is a dump station to empty on way out.  Bathrooms have restrooms and showers available. 8/10.

    Baton Rouge KOA

Exactly what you need when visiting Baton Rouge!

We have stayed here for 4 consecutive years for the Louisiana Marathon weekend in January and couldn’t ask for a better home base for one of our favorite race weekends.

They offer regular pull thru spots with both 30 and 50 amp full hook ups and deluxe with a fire ring and patio space. The campground and bath house are kept clean and there is even a dog park for your furry camping friends.

    Farr Park RV Camground

    Great location

Stayed Thu-Sun on an LSU football game weekend. Didn’t see anyone at the office- but spaces are well marked for finding the reserved spot. We were in B6- so no real shade- in the late afternoon the only decent shade is on row E. We had good cell signal and were able to stream.

When we arrived there were very few campers- but the park got a lot more visitors by late Friday. It was still pretty quiet throughout the stay. Many of the “campers” were large class A or Fifth wheels, but there were a few smaller units like ours (17 ft. TT). The spaces are grass which was obviously recently mowed and the driveway is white gravel/rock. We used the back trail to get to the levee to ride our e bikes and went on about a 30 mile ride south past L’Auberge, and then we went on another 10 mile ride north toward the capital. The bike paths are in good condition and there are a good number of walkers/runners/bicyclists/and scooters using the paths. I checked out the bath house and it was clean and well maintained. There were 4 (ladies) showers and 3 stalls. There are multiple spaces for campers to dump, although we needed to use the front spots due to height. We decided to get an early start on Sunday morning and were at the dump station before 8- only one other unit arrived when we were finishing up- there wasn’t a line to wait in for us. We will definitely return to Farr for another game weekend. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lake End Park Campground & Marina

    Lake Side Large park

This is a busy weekend park within 2 miles of Morgan City, LA. It sits on the edge of a large freshwater lake and has great views. Many sites appear to be Big Rig Friendly. There are various sections of park to choose from. Easy access to park and paved roads inside park. Includes bathhouses, office area, beach and nice boat ramp with dock space. Not sure of a charge for ramp or docks. The East side of the park is wide open and very easy to access with today’s mega rigs and 5th wheels. A large dog park is walking distance and right along the lakeshore.

Guide to Plaquemine

RV parks near Plaquemine, Louisiana offer convenient access to both the Mississippi River and Cajun Country attractions. Located in Iberville Parish with an average elevation of 25 feet above sea level, this area experiences humid subtropical conditions with mild winters and hot summers. Most campgrounds in the region remain open year-round, though summer months bring temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F with high humidity.

What to do

Explore local water recreation: Camp Margaritaville RV Resort in Henderson provides access to multiple water activities. "Cajun Palms is an oasis for the family. They host a ton of activities for the family, fishing, swimming, go cart racing and even nightly entertainment for the adults," notes Stephanie L. The resort features three pools with swim-up bars.

Visit nearby cultural attractions: Poche Plantation RV Resort in Convent offers history enthusiasts a unique base. "Lots of history in the area, fun quiet place to stay, about an hour drive to New Orleans, Howard and his wife are hosts and very nice people," shares Kevin. The plantation setting provides a glimpse into Louisiana's past.

Take advantage of biking trails: The Mississippi River levee offers extensive biking opportunities accessible from several Plaquemine-area RV parks. Farr Park RV Campground in Baton Rouge connects directly to these paths. "There is a paved bike path on top of the river levee that you can ride all the way to downtown Baton Rouge," explains David B. The trails extend for miles in both directions.

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Lakeside RV Park in Livingston receives consistent praise for its upkeep. "Very well maintained. Exceptionally maintained. All concrete sites and a beautiful lake. Covered play area for kids and a nice dog walk area," notes Walt W. The park maintains strict speed limits to ensure guest safety.

Family-friendly amenities: Many RV parks near Plaquemine cater specifically to families with children. "Very nice campground. Staff is always friendly. Good amenities. Very easy to park and a staff member always helps you park. Grocery store is about a mile away. Pool is open during summer and they added a covered playground for kids," shares Joey H. about Lakeside RV Park.

Fishing opportunities: Catfish Heaven Aqua Farm & RV Park in Saint Martinville offers unique fishing experiences. "Done a lot of fishing out here since I was a child- great place to take kids, lots of fun!" says Lauren G. The park maintains stocked catfish ponds, though note that "you must pay for what you catch and no catch and release," according to Mark J.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer brings intense heat and humidity to Plaquemine-area RV parks. One Camp Margaritaville visitor noted, "Park really opens April 1 but we needed a taste of summer and we found it here." Spring and fall typically offer more moderate temperatures.

Varying hookup arrangements: Not all parks offer full hookups. At Farr Park RV Campground, "Sites have electric and water. Remote dump site available," according to Michael T. The dump station setup can be challenging as David B. explains: "The dump station connection for your sewer hose is at a 45 degree angle and a bit above ground level. This creates sags in your hose."

Road conditions: Access roads to some parks may need attention. David M. noted about Camp Margaritaville: "Only bad thing for which I only gave a 4 star is the road leading to the camp grounds are very bumpy and need to be re-paved."

Tips for camping with families

Look for covered play areas: Louisiana's heat makes shade crucial for families. "They also had a pool that was very clean and nice laundry on premises. Bathroom to use was also very clean. They also had a playground that was covered which allowed us to play with our kids in the heat of the day and even with rain," Casey L. says about Lakeside RV Park.

Consider parks with entertainment options: Parkside RV Park offers access to extensive recreational facilities. "The RV Park was built next to the entrance to the St. Julien Park which holds the Broussard Sports Complex and has a gate for guest to walk into the park. St. Julien Park offers bathrooms, free WIFI, drinking fountains, walking trails, dog waste stations, disc golf, catch and release ponds," explains Erika P.

Check for family gatherings: Some parks accommodate larger family events. Cat R. notes that Lakeside RV Park has "a very clean well equipped pool on site" and "several large pavilions to gather under," making it suitable for family reunions.

Tips from RVers

Self-service options: Many rv parks near Plaquemine, Louisiana now offer streamlined check-in. "I book this on my way through to San Diego. It was effortless and I was able to check in with no one in the office because they have an online check-in feature," shares Kim O. about Parkside RV Park.

Site specifications: Consider your RV's specific needs when booking. Rod A. reported about Parkside RV Park: "My site was level and backed up to a farm field; felt peaceful no road noises." For larger rigs, concrete pads are available at several parks, providing more stability than grass sites.

Security considerations: Camp quality varies significantly in the region. While most reviewed parks maintain good security measures, some locations near Baton Rouge have received negative reviews. One campground had reports of "roaming dogs" and didn't "feel safe" according to John N.
