    River Walk RV Park

Parking lot near river and bike trail

It is hard to find many positives about this place. It has nothing to do with the people, but only about the "campground". It is a parking lot. No grass. Very tight. Lots of seasonal folks. There is a dog park. It Is right on the river. It is right on the bike trail. It is close to town. Beyond that. There is nothing that I deem attractive or desirable about this place. So for me personally, we passed. Please check out the photos and judge for yourself.

    Soaring Hawk RV Resort

    Great park

Quiet, spacious, beautiful smell of pine trees. Wouldn’t want to drive in after dark though. Two large dog parks. Park is gravel and you may need to do a little leveling, but it isn’t bad at all. Had enough room to park my 44’ rig and my truck right next to it. Would definitely come here again.

    Soaring Hawk RV Resort

    Great stat

Great new campground right outside of Plummer. There's been some sort of entertainment each night we've been here, fire dancers Friday and Saturday, a 4th of july bbq, 2 bands and fireworks at midnight tonight. There's several different sections to stay in, a dog park, lodge and laundry area. I would definitely come again.

    Coeur d'Alene RV Resort

    Nice Public Bldg

We stayed the night in January and had a late check-in. Paid $69 and had access to full hookups. If you are not there before 5 pm they will not share the code for the bathrooms, etc so beware! Neighbors are told not to give out the code so we had quite a time trying to get in! The public building has bathrooms, laundry, pool, small store and a nice lounge. Lots are quite close together but it is neatly laid out with a few dog parks.

    Wolf Lodge Campground

    Clean and convenient

Made my reservation for an overnight stay over the phone on my way there. Staff was very kind and friendly. I came after the office was closed and a map was left for which tent site was mine. Very clean campgrounds, had a cute little dog park in it too. Ample amount of restrooms and showers available, that were spotless and well stocked.

    Nice clean park, convenient location

Clean park with beautiful creekside camping. Friendly employees and a convenient Brew Pub within walking distance. Grassy areas at sites and very pet friendly.

Road next the RV Park is very busy! It does slow down after dark but be prepared for road noise during daylight hours.

Guide to Murray

The North Fork Coeur d'Alene River area sits at approximately 2,300 feet elevation, featuring a mixed coniferous forest ecosystem that transitions through distinct seasons. Summer temperatures typically range from 75-85°F during day hours with nighttime drops to 45-55°F. The region's waterways are fed by mountain snowmelt, creating cold, clear streams that maintain temperatures below 60°F even during peak summer months.

What to do

Fly fishing opportunities: The North Fork Coeur d'Alene River offers exceptional catch-and-release fishing for west slope cutthroat trout. Big Hank Campground provides direct river access. "Big Hank is the last camp site up the north fork of the Coeur d alene river with a camp host. Well kept, hosts do regular rounds, sell fire wood, good nearby fishing gear, catch and release," notes one camper.

Gold mining history: Visit Crystal Gold Mine for educational tours about the area's mining past. "Yes, this campground is right off I 90 and yes there is road noise BUT where else can you camp, visit a mine and pan for gold. Such rich history. Really great host. The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is right across the road," explains a reviewer.

ATV trails: Lake Elsie Campground connects to extensive ATV networks. "This is one of my favorite camping spots. There is a beautiful alpine lake, which is obviously cold spring water. There is really good fishing and ATV trails for MILES through the wilderness," shares one visitor.

What campers like

River proximity: North Fork Coeur D'Alene River dispersed sites provide immediate water access. "The water is honestly my favorite part about this spot! You're not camping right on it as there are some bushes and an incline, but every spot has a tiny little 1 minute walk down to the water which is awesome," reports one camper.

Quiet setting: The distance from urban areas creates a peaceful environment at most campgrounds. "Very quiet and right along the Coeur d'Alene river. Good for fishing," notes a reviewer about Big Hank Campground.

Wildlife viewing: Campsites throughout the region offer opportunities to observe native animals. "Be careful with your food and be smart," advises one Lake Elsie camper who reported, "Multiple bears went through the campground in the evening and came back at around 3am."

What you should know

Road conditions: Access roads to remote sites can be challenging. About Lake Elsie, one camper notes: "The road up is rough, potholes, it does get better about halfway up. Expect at least 30 minutes to get up after you hit the gravel, and that's pushing it pretty hard."

Site availability: Summer weekends fill quickly, especially at established campgrounds. "We tried to stay here on a Saturday in July- and it was way too crowded. People were parked everywhere (in all the designated spots and everywhere in between) and there were multiple groups playing music," warns a visitor about Bumblebee Campground.

Bear awareness: Multiple campgrounds report bear activity, requiring proper food storage. Store food in vehicles overnight and maintain clean campsites to reduce wildlife encounters.

Tips for camping with families

Best swimming spots: Devils Elbow offers safe water access for children. "Small campground but nice swimming for the kids and quiet," shares one family camper who rated the experience highly.

Educational opportunities: Devils Elbow combines recreation with learning about local ecology. "Lots of free firewood around, and clean waters to swim, vault style toilets and a friendly camp host. Their group site is HUGE! So if you have a family reunion this place would provide a lot of enjoyment," suggests a reviewer.

Seasonal timing: Mid-June through August provides most reliable weather conditions for family camping. A Devils Elbow visitor advises, "I stayed here 3 nights, early June. All the spaces have wide back in or pull through driveways, beautiful one, fir forest."

Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Wallace RV Park offers full services in a convenient location. "A beautiful small privately owned campground in the heart of Wallace Idaho. Right next to the city limits brew pub. All very level sites! The staff is incredible and the sound of the river is wonderful! Has good Wi-Fi especially if you're sitting on the deck, and the water pressure is amazing," reports one RV camper.

Site leveling: Most Forest Service campgrounds require preparation for uneven terrain. Wallace RV Park provides a more developed alternative with "all gravel spots with cabins in other side of the river. No laundry but restaurant and bar on property."

Pet-friendly facilities: RVers with dogs appreciate the convenience of Kit Price campground's amenities. "Spent a nice overnight with my girlfriend, nice bathrooms and facilities, nice semi-private campsites. Water available as well," notes a visitor, making this a practical choice for pet friendly camping near Murray, Idaho.
