Best RV Parks & Resorts near Murray, ID

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks near Murray accommodate large motorhomes and travel trailers with varying amenities. Wallace RV Park offers full hookups including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections on gravel sites along Nine Mile Road. Big Creek RV Park in Osburn provides reservable spaces for RVs approximately 10 miles from Murray. Tamarack RV Park in Coeur d'Alene features pull-through sites with full hookups, including 50-amp service, and remains open year-round. The Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park maintains paved parking areas with gravel pads that can handle large rigs. "It's one of the nicest fairground RV parks I have been to. This place was very well kept and very friendly campground host. This place is big rig friendly. I stayed in a 45 class A motorhome with a tow vehicle."

Access to most RV parks requires careful navigation through mountain roads with occasional tight turns. Between May and September, campgrounds fill quickly, particularly on summer weekends and during special events in Wallace and Coeur d'Alene. Dump stations are available at Wallace RV Park, Blackwell Island, and Kootenai County Fairgrounds. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger Verizon coverage reported at Kootenai County Fairgrounds and limited connectivity in more remote locations. Many parks accommodate pets but enforce leash requirements. For RVers approaching from Interstate 90, one visitor advised: "If you are coming off of interstate 90, don't use exit 13. The round about is way too small to handle big rig or any camper. The best route is exit 12, big rig friendly."

    Blackwell Island RV Park

    Waterfront RV campground

    9/14 to 9/17/19

    Blackwell Island RV Resort

    Coeur d'alene Idaho

Close to interstate, located next to Spokane River and lake. Boat and kayak rentals. Sites are gravel, level, both pull throughs and back ins available, FHU, no privacy between sites. Some nice water front sites. Chairs in place to enjoy the small beach. Nice volleyball and play area. Small BMX course was fun. Cute landscaping near water, small trees within the campground. Picnic tables, no wood fires allowed. No tents of any kind. Very limited store at the office. Town very close with stores and restaurants. Nice restaurant a short distance at the Marina called Cedars. Great private bathroom/with shower. Nice laundry facilities. Free cable and spotty wifi. Moose too!

    50,000 Silver Dollar Campground

    A free spot

We stopped here on our way out of Montana (our home state). A winter storm rolled in and made the pass impassable. This is a FREE RV park with electric hookups…no water, cable, or dumping station, but again, FREE. The snow was hitting hard and having electricity was a lifesaver. There is a really good restaurant and bar here as well as a truck stop and gas station. We have a Class A and the spots were plenty big. Lots of dog walking areas too. Perfect in an emergency and great for a short stay. No long terms and is first come first serve.

    Nugget RV Resort

    We Gave Nugget a Try

We decided to stay here because we’ve seen this campground(CG) featured the last five year’s we’ve been on the road by CG review websites, travel forums, and big-name RV bloggers. So we thought we’d give Nugget a try. We followed our RV GPS to the CG that is near I-90, but far enough away that you don’t hear highway noise. There was another camper checking in when we arrived, but check-in was fairly quick and thorough. There was a sign about being a Good Sam Member and we had to ask to get the discount as that option was not available for the online reservation. We then had a very friendly escort to pull through site 63 with FHUs, which is supposedly a premium site. This gravel site has a little grass yard with a picnic table. The site is across from a community fire pit and couple of their little trail heads. When we were there in July, there was a fire ban so not having a site fire pit was no big deal. The utilities are nicely placed in the middle of the pad. Water pressure is good at about 50 psi. We got 2 to 3 bars on Verizon. As there are a lot of mature pine trees in this CG, satellite is iffy. Our campsite was at the north end of the CG facing the woods, so we used our Verizon MiFi versus Starlink. We probably could have gotten the Starlink to work if we put the antenna on our roof, but as we were only here for three nights, we didn’t try. There’s a nice trail system around the CG to walk with your kids and it is dog friendly. They offer a lot of amenities of which laundry was one that we did use. There’s a nice 9-hole golf course just down the road. They used to let veterans golf for free on Wednesdays, but now charges vets only$5. The CG also had a food truck one evening that was convenient. We wanted to see what all the hype was about and we got the chance. This CG has a lot to offer families or campers who desire a lot of comforts. Overall, its a nice and well run CG, but we are not compelled to repeat with all the other options in the area.

    Albert's Landing

Clean, Friendly, Well Maintained RV Campground on the CDA River

Albert's Landing is a clean, well managed RV campground on the shores of the North Fork of the CDA River near Cataldo, Idaho.

The campground offers 60+ sites with water & 30\50 amp service, level gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. There is nearly 1000' of river frontage, a camp store, and a river float shuttle. However, the campground does not currently have a septic dump, trash facilities, or showers, Those services will be available soon though.

The North Fork of the CDA River is a popular destination for river floating, fishing, and off road recreational activities.

Down the road from the campground is the historic Snake Pit restaurant. Highly recommend stopping in for their great food, atmosphere, and colorful history.

If you're planning to visit the North Fork of the CDA River, I highly recommend Albert's Landing.

    Finley Flats

    Right on the river.

This Vista owned campground is first come first served. No amenities, no cell service. Pack in pack out. Camp host at the campground. Fishing, boating hiking. Beautiful area. There is a small store top of the hill. Nearest town is 10 miles away. Did I mention it is a free campground!. 14 day limit. Nearest dump station is in Trout Creek. Good gravel road can handle big rigs easily.

    Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park

    Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park

We were very pleased with this RV park! We stayed for two nights so my wife could attend a conference. This facility is located very near the general Fairgrounds and next to the horse park. No horses are allowed at the campground but stables are very near by in the Fairgrounds. The sites are all pretty level with the parking areas paved. Grass and groomed gravel areas too. There are various sized sites most are back in. When checking online, and that's where you must reserve your site, there is a very good map with the site lengths listed. Our number 1 site was over 60 feet long and large for our 34 foot long 5th wheel and our Chevy truck. Most of the sites are full hookup with 30 and 50 amp electric. Water and sewer dump. There is also a sewer dump station with 4 dumps, located just west of this park. There is NO wifi provided in the park, but being pretty centralized in the area, cell service is very good. I had full bars of 4G service on my AT&T 5G phone. There is a building with bathroom and showers available if needed, at the south end of the park. Our site was just along the road and it was pretty noisy but it did calm down at night. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and picked up after. For a Fairgrounds campground it is a bit pricey compared to the other Fairground Camping we've utilized, this is still a very nice facility and we would and probably will use it again.

2 Mile Turn Off Dispersed Camp

    Easy in Easy out

Just as described by other reviews, it’s right off the highway and right by the creek. About 50 yards away is an outhouse next to a few RV’s. We didn’t check them out, but it was all quiet on a Sunday night. Fire pit is there with lots of brush and easy creek access to put out the fire. We could hear the cars go by at night but it was not bothersome to us. We felt safe and were grateful as the other place we tried didn’t work out. Drove in pulling a small cargo trailer with little issue, but big rigs would struggle. There is another nearby site (50ft away) that can handle a big rig.

Guide to Murray

What Campers Like

Historical attractions: Wallace RV Park sits within walking distance of historic Wallace. "Great spot to stay especially if you're visiting Wallace for a festival or stopover. Within walking distance to charming downtown," explains Elizabeth S. The town's historic district contains numerous buildings of interest.

Water features: Many campers appreciate waterfront sites. "We backed right above the creek. With the windows open I could hear it babbling all night. Pure bliss," shares Jennifer H. about Wallace RV Park. Creek-side camping spots fill quickly during summer months.

Convenient location: CDA River RV, Riverfront Campground offers a strategic location for regional exploration. "Great one night spot on the river. Clean campground with nice flat spots," writes Eric P. Many campers use it as a base for accessing area attractions.

What You Should Know

Cell service reliability: Internet connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds. "Great service for Verizon! Had fast, reliable wifi!" reports Kaitlin K. about Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park. Campers relying on cellular service should check coverage maps before arrival.

Road access challenges: Some RV parks require careful navigation. "If you are tenting and on the roadside (vs creekside), be advised of the light overhead which keeps your tent in the light all night," cautions Kathy H. about Wallace RV Park. Narrow mountain roads may present challenges for larger vehicles.

Noise considerations: Campgrounds near roadways or railways experience noise. "Road next the RV Park is very busy! It does slow down after dark but be prepared for road noise during daylight hours," warns Shonni N. Train noise affects several area campgrounds, particularly those in valley locations.

Long, pull through RV sites that are over 80 feet long," notes Eric D. The park's layout accommodates families needing space.

Budget considerations: RV park rates vary significantly. "A nice RV Park. It was fairly expensive but its selling point was the proximity of downtown and the shops and bars," reports Andrew A. about Wallace RV Park. Many parks offer lower midweek rates during shoulder seasons.

Playground access: Several parks provide recreational facilities for children. "Great for family reunions. So many amenities," shares Kallie N. about Nugget RV Resort. Parents should inquire about specific kid-friendly amenities when making reservations.

Tips from RVers

Hookup quality: Full hookup availability differs among parks. "Full hookups were nice and so was the proximity to town and the trail system," mentions Justin about Wallace RV Park. Water pressure varies significantly between locations, with some requiring regulators.

Site spacing: Campground layouts range from spacious to compact. "The sites are large, well laid out, grassy areas, hookups are all new," shares Mary F. about Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park. Many reviewers note this fairground offers more space than typical commercial parks.

Access routing: Some roads aren't suitable for large rigs. "The best route is exit 12, big rig friendly," advises Rick Shannon P. about accessing Kootenai County Fairgrounds RV Park. RVers should research specific approach routes before arrival to avoid tight turns and low clearances.
