Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Inlet Beach, FL

Point Washington State Forest provides primitive pet-friendly campsites in two designated areas near Eastern Lake. The Eastern Lake Campground 1 and Eastern Lake Campground 2 areas both welcome pets and feature gravel tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and BBQ grills. Grayton Beach State Park Campground, located approximately 5 miles from Inlet Beach, offers additional pet-friendly options with full hookup sites for RVs and tent camping areas. Dogs must remain leashed throughout both properties, and pet owners are responsible for waste cleanup. Sites at Point Washington's campgrounds require reservations through ReserveAmerica and include a gate code for access. Many campers appreciate the seclusion and privacy of the forest sites despite their proximity to popular beach destinations.

Forest roads leading to Point Washington's campgrounds can be challenging after rain, with significant puddles that may be difficult for small vehicles to navigate. The primitive camping areas have pit toilets but no running water or hookups. Eastern Lake Campground 2 sites provide views of the water with a small dock suitable for launching kayaks or canoes. While not directly on the beach, these pet-friendly campgrounds offer relatively quick access to the renowned white sand beaches of 30A. Campground 1 provides more privacy with sites further apart and less highway noise, while Campground 2 offers better lake views but has more traffic noise. The surrounding forest contains numerous hiking and biking trails, including the Eastern Lake bike/hike trail with 3.5, 5, and 10-mile loop options perfect for exercising with dogs.

    Hitchinpost RV Park and Campground

    Great spot

Host was very friendly, and very patriotic. Cute dog parks, with water for the dogs, and a swing for you to hang out on while you wait for the dogs business to be done.  There is a petting zoo with baby goats and piglets here too.

    Raccoon River Campground

An adventurous paradise away from the ocean paradise

I have read a lot of the reviews. I think some of these people had other issues that caused them to give a bad review. Yes, this is known as a cat haven but with people who have dogs should stay in the dog parks, If they don't accept a place that cannot turn a blind eye to cats. This is an RV park and a campground and I'm not sure why people would expect more luxury than the outdoors experience. This is a beautiful getaway away from the ocean but right next door, and people would love this place if they knew the history behind it and maybe honor it a little bit more. The impact from people that don't like this place gives it a bad reputation. Why listen to someone who don't want you to know about the experience? Just want you to know what they think about it. This is a great place and there are a lot of hardworking, honest people. This is not just a campground, people are residents here and have been here a long time, some would even call it home. There's nothing wrong with anything about this place. It is a wonderful place to be.

    A Cozy Corner RV Lodge

    Quaint RV Park!

Easy check in online. FHU-some shade, level concrete pad, picnic table. Easily backed in our 40 ft Montana. Very clean bathrooms, didn’t use just looked. Washer and dryer, and nice dog park. Close to lots of stores and restaurants, 20-30 min from beaches depending on traffic. Some traffic noise, since it’s next to a main road.

    NSA Panama City FamCamp Southside

    Convenient and clean

This is a simple, no frills RV park with full hookups. There are no views of the bay or other scenic views but it is quiet and clean with level concrete pads. It also has one small bath house. The downside is that there are “grass burrs” everywhere in the sparse grassy areas if you want to walk a dog but there is a dog park.

    Live Oak Landing

    Nice resort RV park

$60 per night. Don't usually stay at resort parks but not much else available last minute. Nice level pads with some space but no privacy or shade. Interspersed with cute cottages. Great bathhouse. Recreation room, boat launch, canoe rentals, laundry. They pick up your bagged trash and will deliver wood. Picnic table, fire pit, grill. Dog park onsite.

Guide to Inlet Beach

Point Washington State Forest offers primitive camping options beyond the more developed beach campgrounds near Inlet Beach. The forest encompasses over 15,000 acres with distinct camping areas featuring basic amenities. Forest roads accessing these campsites can flood after heavy rain, requiring vehicles with higher clearance during wet conditions.

What to do

Kayaking on Eastern Lake: At Eastern Lake Campground 2, campers can launch directly from the small dock by site 1. "Great place to launch a canoe or kayak. I didn't have either but now I have a kayak and I will definitely put it on the lake on my next visit," notes Dale W.

Beach activities within reach: St. Andrews State Park Campground provides multiple beach access points about 45 minutes from Inlet Beach. "The snorkeling can be great depending on how recently a storm has passed through. We rented a boat and spent a few hours on Shell Island. Because it is difficult to access there are very few people out on the beech," reports Matt S.

Bike trail exploring: The extensive trail network surrounding pet friendly camping near Inlet Beach offers varying difficulty levels. At Sand Pond Campground, "The two-mile Campground Trail, part of the Forest Service's Trailwalker Program, winds along the banks of Cyprus Pond, through the mixed hardwood/pine forest, and around Sand Pond. This is a nice and easy, well-maintained, level trail," shares Dale W.

What campers like

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Many campgrounds in the area provide chances to observe local wildlife. "We saw lots of other wildlife around, including deer and rabbits," notes Sonyia W. about her stay at St. Andrews State Park.

Private camping sites: Henderson Beach State Park Campground offers exceptional site privacy despite being close to populated areas. "Right in the heart of Destin but the best beach on the coast if you're not looking for crowds but if you are looking for space to spread out. The campground basically has a huge portion of the beach just for it. Everything supper clean and nice. Sites are spread out and private," explains Larry.

Lake views for relaxation: Several campers appreciate the peaceful water views available at certain sites. "We stayed on a campsite right next to the pond. It made for fantastic sunsets!" Jennifer D. shares about her experience at Sand Pond Campground.

What you should know

Gate code requirements: For access to primitive camping areas, you'll need reservation information. "Camp site has locked gate, should receive gate code once reserve with reserveamerica. Also if very importance: you cannot get to site from 30A, google maps does not know if you link from this app - entrance is from hwy 98," advises Ty C. about Eastern Lake Campground 1.

Road conditions after rain: Many forest access roads become challenging after precipitation. "I came in a day after rain and there were numerous significant deep puddles to get through. I was grateful my Sprinter had knobby tires and was a little higher; even then at one point the puddle was so deep it covered my headlights!" reports Jared about Eastern Lake Campground 1.
