  Many activity options!

  General: Many different options: tent sites (with or without hookups), back-in 50/30 amps FHU (with or without patio), Pull-thru 50/30 amps (options include patio and/or hot tub), camping cabins and deluxe cabins. 

  Site Quality: All sites are level and have a concrete pad. Although the sites are close together with no privacy between them, there is some separation with a grass strip.

  Bath/Shower: Code to enter and clean with soap and paper towels. 

  Activities: So many options. My favorite was the half-mile fitness trail that circles the lake. Other activities include mini golf, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, bike rentals, a fishing pier, a pool, and a nicely appointed playground. 

  Other amenities include a library, laundry, train depot, paddle boats, and a small store. 

  While this is not our preferred type of camping, it suited our needs for a night en route home, and I loved the gravel fitness trail. It was not high season yet so some things such as the pool and paddle boats were not available, and the campground was not full so it was quieter than it would be on a summer weekend.

  Estes Park KOA

  A repeat vacation

  On a cross country today trip these were the nicest camping cabins we stayed in. The campground itself is relatively small but with a nice playground and camp store as well as bathroom facilities. You can't beat the view, people and the easy location to go into the downtown. We only had one night here but plan to make a week long trip to the area at another time we liked it so much.

  All about location

  We stayed here one night. Spots were ok. Pool and hot tub were closed in July. They didn’t say why. Lots of rules including 7/12 mph speed limit.

  Nice RV park in a fabulous location !

  This park is located just outside of Estes Park, right along the river. The park is very clean and the staff is exceptionally helpful. The sites are level, but rather small and close together. There are no trees in most of the sites. The facilities were acceptable, although the pool and hot tub were closed during our visit. The trash pickup was a nice touch, just leave your trash at the front of your site and they collect it. No canopies are allowed, which is a downside without trees and also no campfires, which will keep our group from returning.

  Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort

  Beautiful RV Park!

  We got into Estes Park on a Friday night with plans to stay elsewhere but those fell through. Luckily, Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Park had spots open for us! The park itself is lovely, well maintained and a spectacular view of Long's Peak. Facilities were very nice and clean. Hot tub and pool were wonderful for days after hikes. They had live music and drinks on the weekends, plus free pancakes in the morning on Sunday! The price was a bit steep but we loved it so much we sucked it up and stayed longer than expected (plus it's Estes Park, what do you expect?). The staff there was probably some of the nicest staff I've seen at an RV park - very kind and helpful. One of our favorite places to stay (since there aren't many options for dispersed camping in the area).

  Spruce Lake RV Park

  RV campground between Estes Park and RMNP

  Let me preface this review by stating that is it weren’t for some regrettable encounters with one deplorable staff member(manager) this would have been a 4 star review. More on that later.... 

  This campground is ideally located in my opinion, situated between Estes Park and Rocky Mtn NP, right next to a river, short walk to a grocery store (with shuttle to downtown) and alongside a road you can use to bypass the nasty summer traffic, I can’t think of a better place to be. My family and I stayed here for a week in a 34 ft travel trailer. The campground has a pool, hot tub, office with some supplies, full hookups, spacious sites, playground, fishing pond, laundromat, and a modest mini golf course. I was really impressed with the site width(in a busy destination such as Estes Park you would expect to be crammed in). Each site is bordered by log fencing to add to the feel of a large space. Sites are level and graveled. The pool is decently sized and the hot tub is fairly new. Mini golf is fun(clubs and balls and borrowed from the office) but is a little run down. 

  So with all this good stuff, what are the cons? Well, the laundry machines are old and expensive. The activities center was never open, even on the 4th of July. No campfires at the sites and the community campfire is uninviting. The wifi is almost non-existent except at the pool/office. The game room is locked and empty. And the manager drives around the campground flying pirate flags and curses out his staff for insufficient reasons, in front of children. When my husband confronted him about this, he huffed off and never apologized, even though he walked by our site frequently. I am told that this is being brought to the attention of the owners, but since no action has been taken as of the time of this post, it is being included in this review. The other staff have been friendly. 

  Overall, I would stay here again but would make sure the situation with the manager has been rectified.

  Fort Collins Lakeside KOA

  Holiday KOA

       This is a KOA you come to stay a while. There's LOADS of stuff to do for kids & there are a LOT of kids who visit with their parents. Bounce house, jumping pillow, inflatable slide, basketball, shuffle board, pickleball, fishing, paddleboats in the shape of a swan/dragon/flamingo, a pool AND splashpad. There's a cute train that takes kids & parents through the campground. This is kid paradise & there's a lot of them on bikes & running around the campground.

         There was just my husband & I camping here. My husband enjoyed the catch & release fishing. Fishing was good according to him. I liked the hiking trail around the pond. We were able to have a fire. Our site was on the end, close to the bathroom. It was the site I had talked to the reservation line lady, so I was happy. Two of the sites actually had hot tubs! For more money of course.  

      The problems- I received a text the morning of our arrival saying if we needed anything to text& they'd get back to us. I had a question about directions to the KOA, since they said on the email not to use GPS. I texted around 9am & NEVER got a response. EVER! They continued to text me throughout the stay for this & that.

      We should have followed the GPS directions, since the way the KOA took us was through town & was completely nerve wracking.

      The staff was courteous, but not really friendly. Asked for some area info. Staff member said they had a rack with info. A small table top one with restaurants. She also had a tear off map of Fort Collins which was helpful. Seemed put out that I asked. 

       The bathrooms turned out to be 5 unisex toilet/shower combos, which are pretty inconvenient when you need to poop  & all of them are taken by people showering. There are 3 other restrooms in the KOA, but we only used the one by site 84. The bathrooms seemed to always need attention. I think the employees needed to visit more than once a day. Not really KOA clean.

  Red Daisy Farm

  Quiet Spot Away from the City Filled with Peace and Quiet

  I was looking for a quiet place to get away from Denver but I wasn't able to take off on a long drive to get there, then I found this place. A flower farm, with rows of beautiful blooming flowers, a natural pool, a Jacuzzi, and a beautiful view of the Rocky Mtns? Sounds perfect for a midweek getaway to me!

  When I pulled up, Terry came out to meet me and give me a tour. He took me to the tent spot and I quickly realized that they didn't get many tent campers, they mostly received RV and AirB&B guests. The tent site was big enough to fit a couple tents (or a large family tent) but there wasn't a bathroom or even many places you could nature pee around the area. Terry informed me that they don't have bathrooms yet, but they are in the process of turning the old silo's into bathrooms and potentially another bedroom to rent out. That should be done by the end of the Summer. 

  Then he gave me a tour of the pool and the flower shop. The land here is just incredible! They only bought this property 9 years ago and only started growing flowers on it 6 years ago and it has obviously transformed into a stunning landscape. The flower storage was filled with stunning colors and smells of all the assorted flowers they grow on the farm. Meg came out later to say hi and tell me a little about the events they host on the property. 

  The natural pool was beautiful! I was the only camper there so I had free reign of the place. I lounged for a bit on a float in the water until I had a friendly visitor in the water with me, A small king snake (the good kind of snake) was cooling down in the water and when we saw each other we both ran the other way. See my video of an alternative use for the morsel spork...:-) I didn't see him again the rest of the time out there. Terry laughed at my tomfoolery and said they normally don't come near in the water, but he likes knowing they are out there since they eat rattlesnakes.

  As the sun went down I took my book into the hot tub and relaxed for a bit. While Terry and Meg's kids rode around on the golf cart and jumped on the trampoline on the other side of the property, it was very soothing to hear the quiet laughter and fun being had by a beautiful family and yet still feel like I had my privacy. 

  All in all it was a beautiful stay at a lovely location. I would recommend this place for a girl's day trip, bridal shower, or bachelorette location too! It is screaming to be filled with sundresses and mimosas. RV camping or even staying at the AirB&B would probably be ideal for your stay until they get the bathrooms built.

  This camp ground has the best view!. We have camped in Colorado for over 15 years. By far the campsites with the best views! And you can rent cabins too. Just love this place. Lake gets busy In the summer. But still worth if you can get a reservation.

  Lots to do without leaving the campgrounf!

  Clean facilities, friendly hosts, and lots of amenities and activities right there at the campground. We were allowed to trade two nights of tent camping for one night in a cabin to try to avoid a storm.

  Cabins have a porch swing, private table, parking, and a partial privacy fence. Putt putt, croquet, birdwatching, rock painting, volleyball, basketball, large yard games, and more!

  Hermit Park Open Space

  Awesome Quiet Getaway

  Best place to camp in Estes Park/Northern Colorado! Wooded sites mean privacy from your neighbors and shade during the day. Vault toilets are very clean, well kept. Staff and Rangers are very friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the area. Other reviews mention only 3.2 alcohol, but that rule has changed! ;) Great Hiking and Views, we watched the fireworks for 4th of July in Estes from one of the trails. Large bear boxes fit 2+ coolers. It was full for the holiday week/end, but staff mentioned that there's usually a lot of availability during the week. Have stayed in the cabins in years past, they are nice with gas fireplace for heat, and gas cookers in the cabin. No bedding, but beds are large and soft. 

  Gorgeous sunsets, so close to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. Hidden Gem in a busy tourist town!!

  Deer Creek Campground — Golden Gate Canyon

  Tons of camping options

  The views, wildlife, and geology in the park are astounding---add to that the yellow aspens in the fall and you have classic Colorado camping not far from Denver. There are a lot of different options: typical state park camp sites, cabins, and a yurt, as well as backpacking/backcountry sites. We did the yurt in the winter and it was amazing, but make sure you have a jeep (or similar) and bring everything you need.

  Resort style amenities just outside of town!

  This was my first time staying at a KOA campground and I was blown away by the amenities offered here. Upon first pulling up to the campground, I was met by a security checkpoint and was directed to the main office to register and obtain a car pass. The attention to detail and security measures were another surprise to me, as I have always been more accustomed to primitive campgrounds. As previously mentioned, I was astounded by the variety of amenities offered to guests including wifi, a pool, mini golf, a massive playground, arcade, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits and more. This all in addition to the usual premium campground amenities such as showers, laundry facilities, RV dump station, camp sinks, an office store with basic goods and snacks, etc. 

  This campground is super family friendly and seems to be much more focused on offering RV sites and cabin type lodging. As I am a tent camper, my review will be focused on what is offered for those at a tent site. There are 5 tent sites, which are only available from May 1stto September 30th. The sites are rather close together but in a lovely location right along the lake. The sites cost $45/night on week days and $50/night on weekends for one or two people with a single vehicle, additional guests cost $10/night, additional car $5/night and fire ring rentals are $5/night. Tent sites include a parking spot, a raised and level tent platform, picnic table and grill. Open fires, hammocks and clotheslines are not allowed even at the tent sites. 

  Overall, this campground provides a very family oriented environment with luxurious amenities. This campground would be a great option for those wanting a camping experience without having to “rough it” whatsoever. The RV sites and cabin lodging also provide unique options for those not wanting to sleep in a tent. The price for tent camping seemed a bit steep for me, but made sense considering all of the facilities offered. The location just outside of Fort Collins provides easy access to town while still allowing for a more rural experience.

  Paradise on the River

  Beautiful but Cozy

  Smaller campground very close to RMNP. Sits directly beside the Big Thompson River. Spent three nights in July. Each site has a deck over the river. Can't beat the sound of water rushing. Several long-term campers and a group of "cabins" are the majority of the park. People running the campground and work camping are super friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are really small but clean. Only two showers and two stalls. Probably because the long terms are big units and the cabins have their own bathrooms. You do have to squeeze into your site but they help you back-in and pull out when you are ready to go. I do not believe they allow tent camping. We would stay again.

  Worth the hike

  Hiked about 2.5 miles into a back country shelter site. It was quiet and secluded but only a short walk from a small lake and a historical cabin site. Loved it!

  Deer Creek Campground — Golden Gate Canyon

  One of my favorites for local camping

  This is a very popular Colorado State Park and campground for alot of reasons! The park has campsites for all sizes, shapes and styles of campers, trailers, tents and has cabins and yurts to rent as well. I like loop B for the pull throughs and nice spacing between sites. Loop D is a favorite as well , it’s close to the restrooms with showers and laundry. The park fills up quickly over the summer weekends ( reservations required) but I check for cancellations ... you never know or try for weekdays if you can.

  Have stayed here in a tent, in a yurt, and in a cabin. All are great! Bathrooms clean. At 10,000 feet, it can be colder than you expect and watch out for the altitude effects! Yurts are wayyy fun.

  FE Warren AFB Crow

  Nice area

  Nice camping area. Downside is the train tracks are close by. Not a problem though, it is a no train horn area. Nice RV spots with water and electric. Sewer dump on property as well. Tent camping is available as well as cabins. Lots of history at F.E. Warren AFB.

  Hope this isn’t normal!

  We stayed at this KOA on a road trip. We got in late and honestly had a not so great night. The campground is located directly next to a farm and the air had the stench of recently laid manure. The cabin was in pretty rough shape as well. Maybe we just stayed on a bad night, but we regretted not staying in a hotel.

  Horsetooth Reservoir County Park South Bay

  Clean campground with great water access.

  Clean and well maintained campground. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our site was well spaced from our neighbors, but other areas were fairly dense. Electric hookup worked, but no water at the site, and "public water" in the area was a broken water fountain. We filled up at the dump station. Shower house was close, only open 6am to 10pm, pay showers minimum $2. Excessive road noise during the day, it did quiet down each night. If we stay here again we will stay nearer to the entrance or get a cabin.

  Hermit Park Open Space

  A well kept secret, great spot to camp.

  Hermits Park is a great spot to know about. Anyone coming from afar is going to search for federal and state parks, but won't know to check for county parks. This used to be a private retreat for Hewlett Packard employees (HP=Hewlett Packard=Hermits Park). It's very spread out so once you enter and stop and check in, you'll continue on a slow curvy road on to either Hermits Hollow or Bobcat Gulch for your campsite. There is also a loop of cabins which can be rented fairly inexpensively. We stayed in H-11, and it's a very large site and nicely secluded from its neighboring sites. All the sites were pretty large, and there are nice rock outcroppings and large trees throughout the park. A few sites are right up on the road, but most offer nice large lot.

  In spite of the many large trees, hammocks are not allowed. It is also not allowed to have any glass containers or any alcohol above 3.2%. This is a bear area, and all food or scented items need to be stored properly. Each campsite has a very large bear box large enough to accommodate anything you'd have, including coolers.

  It would be nice if the county could put water in, there are two places to fill containers/rvs-one right by the entrance and another at the entrance to Bobcat Gulch. The toilets are very clean pit toilets, and of course there are no shower facilities. Even the cabins have outhouses. If this was a joint county/state park it would be amazing-lottery money could allow for modern facilities, but what is there is very clean and well maintained. It appears they are doing construction to build another camp area between the two existing areas (June 2018).

  There is a large group pavilion which would make a beautiful spot for a wedding. Another area is an equestrian camping area, and there are many trails in the park.

  Glen Echo Resort

  Outstanding One-Stop Poudre Canyon Camping Experience!

  Glen Echo is an exceptional one-stop Poudre Canyon camping experience.   While they do offer large and small cabins, long and short term RV spots, we tent camped for two nights on two different riverside sites - numbers 1 and 6 - and both were awesome!  Both spots offered amazing rushing water views, a nice mixture of sun and shade, picnic tables, and fire rings.  One of the spots - site 1 - had electric hook-up.  Aside from the great tent sites, they have on-site a general store/market, fuel, a liquor store and restaurant/cafe, which made life super convenient because it's located about mid-way through Poudre Canyon and there's not a lot out there.  Also, clean showers, which was a nice surprise.  Cannot recommend this chill camping destination enough!

  Beaver Meadows Resort Ranch

  This really is Heaven on Earth!

  To say we love Beaver Meadows would be a huge understatement. We spend just about every other weekend there all year long - winter and summer. We got married there in 2014 (as our photos show) and it was beautiful. The outdoor wedding area is amazing and right by a river. The reception hall for after is so cool with giant windows so you can look out in every direction on nature and you celebrate your big day. Ever since we've been hooked. They had cabins, condos, lodges, and camp spots so every guest had a place to stay the night.

  When you pull around the corner and into the valley it takes your breath away every single time. Lush green fields, ponds, stunning mountain backdrops, wildlife, horses running free, people fishing and riding horses. It's a playground for adults and kids and it's only an hour from our house in Fort Collins - we can't stay away. They have a yummy restaurant too so we never even bring food - we just eat there.

  In the winter we go snow tubing (12 + runs with a lift) and stay in one of their little heated cabins which is so cozy but also provides all the amenities of home (kitchen, bedrooms, entertainment, etc). We love to go up before a storm and watch the snow start to fall. In the spring and summer we are up there camping along the river all the time. Each site is unique so we like to change it up each time - we go hiking, horseback riding, and fish in the stocked ponds! There are some unique fish in there - really neat. In the fall we like to go up and do the "river walk" - a series of paths and bridges through tall foilage that feels like your in a different world. Watching the leaves change is awesome in the fall - compares to any drive you can do in the state - soooo many aspens.

  If your looking for a romantic weekend with the significant other or a family vacation with the kiddos - I would highly suggest making the drive up - I bet you will fall in love with it just like we did and won't be able to stay away.

  CanyonSide Campground

  Friendliest campground in CO!

  Such an amazing and laid back place to camp! With two separate tent area, RV camping, and cabins, this place has it all! The bathrooms are always super clean, there is even an outdoor shower(covered of course) available in one of the tent sections. There are sinks available at both tent sections as well. There are also communal areas where you can hang out and meet other campers, you can watch directv in one area as well! There is a short trail that goes up the mountain behind the CG to a small chapel, and a swing that overlooks the river across the road. There is a convenient gas station/convenience/liquor store across the road within easy walking distance. There is a restaurant and bar under two miles as well. June is fantastic, she makes you feel like you are at home. Her hospitality alone is worth stopping by and checking the place out!

  Well, sorta camping if you consider a yurt camping. This was the perfect winter getaway for winter hiking. Unfortunately there was not enough snow to cross country ski as advertised. Overall the park has nice trails and some elevation gain. It made for a nice quick getaway.

  Riverside: A Canyon Retreat

  A great start- I cant wait to see what they do!

  Our stay at this place has been nothing short of perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The staff here has been incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure that our every need is met. If it’s a tent already set up and waiting for you, one of the many tiny houses on site, or even a Cabin with all the amenities- they will be able to accommodate you. While we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here, it is clear that there are ongoing renovations and improvements taking place. The potential of this place is evident, and we cannot wait to see the final result. Based on what we have already experienced, we have no doubt that it is going to be amazing!

  If you’re going to the Mishawaka for a show, the shuttle from Riverside runs to the Amish every 15 minutes making it SUPER convenient to attend a concert. Don’t forget to grab some food before the show too!!
