Bobcat Campground — Hermit Park

Just stayed here as our Basecamp for our RMNP adventures. This has moved to the top of my list of favorite campsites! Some sites are smaller, but several are good size and spaces far enough apart for the perfect amount of privacy. The vault toilets were the cleanest we have ever seen! Basically no cell service unless the wind blew just right. Also, they do charge an additional $15 to use the dump station. That felt like a rip off considering what we already paid to stay here with no services, but wasn’t much we could do about it.

Just south of Estes Park, CO and ~30 minutes to rocky mountain national park.  This county park is a hidden gem.  Huge open space preserve with a few great hikes (Kruger rock had phenomenal views but moderately strenuous).  We stayed in the bobcat loop that was 2.5 miles up a dirt road from the entrance.  Aside from the windy dirt road, no complaints from us - would stay again!

We spent 1 night at site B32 (bobcat campground). Access in our pop up was easy (a tad bumpy in spots), but I think some of turns and narrow roads might be tricky for bigger trailers. Our site was a nice size and felt private enough despite somewhat close neighbors. Good balance of shady spots and sunny spots. Lots of rock outcroppings and hills to explore (or look at from your chair if that’s more your speed). The bear box was a good size, easy to use, and well located. Restrooms were a short walk away. Our site was easy to get level on but some others looked difficult. Close to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park if that’s your thing (based on the traffic that’s a lot of people’s thing). Overall it was nice and we liked it.

But... it’s pretty expensive for what it is.

Sites are very hard to get your unit level. Very high price for no hookups. Close to Estes Park.

Camped here for 2 nights Oct 10/11 and loved it!! We stayed at B18. This was by far the quietest campground I have ever stayed at! The pit toilets were clean. The bear boxes were very large and clean. We only saw the rangers twice as they were driving by. Most people left on Sunday morning, probably because the snow and wind were moving in. We stayed. The wind gusts must have been close to 60mph! I live locally and am so happy I found this area..so much history to explore here!

We stayed three nights in the Bobcat loop (site 22) and really enjoyed it. The road in is a bit narrow so if you have a trailer/RV over 30-35 feet, it’ll be tight. With that being said, I pulled my 30 foot trailer with no problems.... just go slow 😊. Views are great, bathrooms are clean. Water and dump available at the entrance to the campground. Each campsite has a fire ring (fire ban while we were there), table and bear box.

Night 1: Dont be dumb and leave anything out. I was, I left out my water jug, a bear bit it open. Everything else is amazing here! We're staying in the Bobcat loop. Fire pits are 1 of the best I've seen. Its also a quick drive into Estes, and the Cherry place is not too far in the other direction.
