      Brush Memorial Park Campground

A good place to stop over

We needed to stop on the way to the mountains and most places were full but we found a spot in Brush. It had 12 sites with Electric and Water. Memorial Park was pet friendly, heated restrooms and showers, picnic shelters, playground, and disc golf. There was also a fishing pond across the street. We were excited to find out the first night was free and after that it was $20. It was a good place to spend the night.

      Cherry Creek State Park Campground

Nice state park outside of Denver but expensive

The facilities at this state park are really nice. Relatively level and paved spots, big rig friendly, full hookups at sites, and laundry and wifi on site but it's not the prettiest or most secluded campground. There's a lake and lots of trails for biking or hiking and I think it popular getaway for locals. We did see lots of deer and a great horned owl which was cool. You can definitely hear the highway and are close to any amenity you could need. About a 35 minute drive from downtown to explore. It's a bit expensive with a daily fee on top of camping fees. We were happy to snag a spot as it's one of the closest and nicest options to explore Denver in an RV but wasn't wowed.

      Cherry Creek State Park Campground

      Wonderful state park

9/25/2020 Pros: this could be a long list but I will give the top pros. Very easy to find, very easy to check in and easy to access sites, back in or pull through. The entire park is very well kept. Sites a spaced apart no crowding. Beautiful cottonwood trees turning colors. Big rigs this is the place for you.

Cons: Have not found any yet.

      Genoa RV Park

      Pretty nice over night stay

Genoa campground is not a resort, however , it is well accoutremented for overnight or two or three days stays. I stayed in campsite number two on the first of May. Complete full hookups available.Did my reservation online. Didn't see a camp host. The showers in bathrooms were under renovation. So they were shut off , but a blue room was of supplied. I was in a self contained travel trailer , so I had no issues. Wonder whole views of the night sky. Far enough off of the freeway to where you could just barely hear the rumble. Quiet peaceful night. For thirty five dollars , you couldn't beat it. It looks like all the sites were pull through. There's a children's playground in the city park less than fifty yards away. There's a small pavilion with barbecue pits, tables and seating on the site

      Cherry Creek State Park Campground

A piece of nature tucked into the city.

Located in the city, but once you’re in the park you don’t feel like you’re in the city at all!!! The RV spots have full hookups and are nice and spacious, as are the neighbors. We were able to set up a tent too! Great place to stroll and relax. Beautiful sunsets. Clean bathrooms and laundry facilities with a little vending machine.

A great place for camping (RV and tent spots), fishing, wildlife/nature viewing, hiking, boating (all water activities), has a swim beach, marina, off leash dog park, shooting range, horse stables that you can do a beautiful hour horseback ride.

FEES: Campsites $41 full hookup, basic campsite $28, daily park pass is $11, annual park pass $83, daily dog park pass $3, annual dog park pass $25, and group camping is available too.

      Foothill Flats

      Great travel stop.

I am traveling back to the Midwest from Utah. I work remotely during the week and travel on the weekends. This was a great place to stop for the week. Full hookups and nice level pads. There are restaurants and a coffee shop within walking distance.

      BEWARE

Appears to be kid and pet friendly or just a nice place to stay overall but I will tell you first hand it was not. I’ve never in my life spent so much money to be treated with so little respect in my life. My family and our dogs stayed for a week (mind you we are quiet and keep to ourselves, our kids are respectful and we always clean up after our pets) during this time we had a woman that worked here at our camper at least 50 times a day “checking in on us” first thing was she didn’t like our solar lights we put out so we could see to put our shoes on when we had to make midnight doggie deposit runs (and not have to turn on our big light and disturb our neighbors)… next big thing was it rained for 3 days straight while we were here… which didn’t phase my kids who strapped on their rain gear and went to play on their play equipment… when the rain stopped and the sun came out- the same woman came knocking to let us know my kids had gotten their play equipment muddy and she expected them to go clean it off- which was no problem I sent them with the broom and some spray bottles. Little did I know, she was going to have someone power wash it 25 min after they had spent all day scrubbing and cleaning it… but my final straw was our last night here… we had left for a few hours to go do some things and we came back and my 2 year old daughters wagon (very clearly not a utility wagon- it’s pink!) was completely full of all the pet waste from the day I’m guessing, with a note taped to it saying “dump pet waste here” needless to say I’m fuming at this point.

As far as the facilities… We paid for 50 amp power and full hook ups for the duration of our visit- they instead put us in a 30 amp campsite (which is not a big deal we had adapters) but for the price difference I’m a little pissed looking at how we were treated. The shower houses are nice.. And the price gouging in the store is outrageous… almost 600% markup for even just a cold drink. I will try to add a positive note, as I try to do for even places such as these- they did have a very nice wash room for laundry. But having only one dryer that kinda worked (2 hours to dry a small load of laundry) kinda ended up being another strike against them as well. I’m not one to be nit picky, nor am I petty.. but how I was treated was completely outrageous. -20/10 makes me reconsider ever staying at a KOA again if this is how they are allowed to treat their campers!

Also beware of the goat heads! They’re everywhere. I got one in my foot, my son got one in his bike tire, and we had a flat on the camper due to one. When I say they are thick, they are THICK.

    Guide to Deer Trail

RV parks near Deer Trail, Colorado sit at an elevation of approximately 5,200 feet along Colorado's eastern plains. The area experiences semi-arid climate conditions with significant temperature variations between seasons, ranging from over 90°F in summer to below freezing in winter. Most camping options cluster along the I-70 corridor, providing convenient access for travelers passing through the region.

    What to do

Explore local small towns: Nearby Genoa offers unexpected attractions including a local café. "Ask him about the little cafe down the street with a full bar and great smoked bison burgers! We even met some of the locals and had great conversations with our meal and drinks," notes a visitor at Genoa RV Park.

Visit community parks: Elizabeth has several recreational facilities with outdoor activities. "Great campground. Clean. Pine trees give great shade all day. Hook ups and dump station. Just outside Elizabeth and an easy drive to Colorado Springs area and the Parker/Denver areas," according to a guest at Casey Jones RV Hideaway.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Some parks offer unexpected wildlife encounters. "The RV park was full of wild rabbits that were running all around. The views were of a neighborhood park with grain silos in behind the park, and wind turbines in the distance, definitely different," mentions one camper about their stay at Genoa RV Park.

    What campers like

Convenient transit locations: Many RV parks serve as practical stopovers. "Not a lot of options on I 70 east of Denver for overnight parking so opted for a KOA last minute. Easy last minute check in process. Served great for a quick in and out," shares a traveler who stayed at Denver East-Strasburg KOA.

Level sites for easy setup: Several parks offer well-maintained spaces for motorhomes. "Easy access on and off I-76. Sites are level with what appears to be full-hookups at all sites. Front desk was very helpful and check in was easy. Showed up with no reservation and was in my spot quickly," reports a visitor at Emerald RV Park.

Clean facilities: Many travelers appreciate well-maintained amenities. "The laundry, bathroom and showers were clean with nice hot water. The have pizza delivery to your site-- which on a day that was 36 degrees with icy rain, was a welcome treat!" notes a guest about Denver East-Strasburg KOA.

    What you should know

Seasonal weather considerations: Winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing, requiring precautions. "It is a no thrills, Quiet, peaceful, full hook-ups kind of park. Little expensive but one cost covers everything. Plus it is a all season park," explains a camper at Denver Meadows RV Park.

Highway noise impacts: Many rv parks Deer Trail, Colorado and surrounding communities experience traffic sounds. "The location is a disaster. Literally right next to highway I-70, there's no way you'll get a restful nights sleep. Maybe in a RV or renting a cabin you'll have better luck, but as a tent camper it was brutal," cautions a visitor about Denver East-Strasburg KOA.

Rural character: Some parks have basic amenities in remote settings. "This RV park is literally a pebble and grass clump facility. There are 7 pull through sites with new electric, water and sewer connections close together. There is a clean bathhouse with shower. Owner is nice and helpful. The campground is a new enterprise in a very small, run down town."

    Tips for camping with families

Research playground facilities: Some parks offer recreational areas for children. "It was a great spot for families that is quit and very clean. Quick and easy camping experience," mentions a visitor at Denver Meadows RV Park.

Check on-site food options: Several locations provide food services. "They had a pool and kiddie pool. Both are small, though. Pizza and ice cream on site. Affordable laundry. $2.50 for wash and 50 cents for 8 minutes for the dryer," reports a camper about KOA amenities.

Look for green spaces: Limited shade can be found at select parks. "The playground was pretty awesome, large and with multiple things to climb on for kiddies. They had a pool and kiddie pool. Both are small, though," notes another visitor about Barr Lake RV Park.

    Tips from RVers

Water conservation planning: Many RV parks in the region have limited freshwater resources. "We stopped here since it was off the highway on the way towards Denver. It is all gravel/dirt with tight spaces and lots of seasonal/full-time campers. Few amenities but they do have a small playground near the office with sand, toys & swings," explains a visitor at Barr Lake RV Park.

Leveling equipment essential: Uneven sites may require additional equipment. "The campsite that I had was very uneven. It was practically a down hill slope. I had a hard time getting my camper level. This campground does not have any amenities," warns a camper about Casey Jones RV Hideaway.

Extension cords recommended: Some utility connections require additional reach. "Connections are a little far for some RV models, so make sure you have extensions for cords and hoses just in case. The campground advertises a lot of conveniences like pizza orders delivered to your site," advises a guest about their stay at Denver East-Strasburg KOA.
