Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Victorville, CA

Mojave River Forks Regional Park accommodates pets at its tent sites, RV spaces, cabins, and glamping units. Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground permits dogs on hiking trails and tent camping areas where pets can accompany campers. Most campgrounds around Victorville maintain standard pet policies requiring leashes no longer than 6 feet and proper waste disposal. The RV park in Adelanto features a small dog park with real grass, making it suitable for overnight stays while traveling with pets. Hesperia Lake Park's campground offers water and electric hookups at pet-friendly sites with nice shade on approximately half the sites, though lake access is restricted as the area is fenced off and closes in the evening.

Campgrounds in the high desert require special consideration for pets due to extreme temperature fluctuations. The Mojave Narrows Regional Park provides tree cover from cottonwoods that create shaded areas for pets during summer months when temperatures can soar. Ground squirrels at Hesperia Lake campground may be problematic for dogs, with reports of squirrels entering tents and vehicles. Most facilities provide basic amenities including drinking water and waste disposal areas, though limited pet-specific features exist beyond standard camping accommodations. Oak Hills RV Village maintains pet-friendly policies with owners described as helpful and accommodating to late arrivals, allowing up to two pets per RV at some facilities like Lone Wolf Colony which requires pets to be approved during the inspection process.

    Beautiful

We rolled in after dark. The office is open until 9 pm which was very nice. They sell snacks and supplies. There are cabins for rent along with tent sites in addition to backup and pull through sites. Our site had full hookups. The dog park at the back of the campground was decent size with a gorgeous view of the mountains. There are arched overhead lights through the lanes to help light in the dark. A word of warning, the campground has many oleander flower bushes which are toxic to humans and pets if ingested, so please use caution. There are signs warning of this.

Great stop on a cross country journey

I’m just stopping to sleep, but this campground has friendly staff and good amenities. I’m parked under a canopy of trees, which must help on hot summer days.

They had a general store, bath houses, cabins, dog park and more.

    Pineknot

    Great, beautiful little spot.

Clean, relaxing area that gives each party plenty of room. Pet friendly, our three dogs loved it! Staff was incredibly helpful and hard working. Also it was well located as it was a semi-quick drive to a few fun locations. Will be coming again, though I hear it requires a reservation well in advance. This is a very popular location!

    Bonita Ranch Campground

    Loved this spot!!

A little gem hiding out in Lytle Creek! Easy access to a pretty trail right behind the campground. Very quiet and interspersed with long time stayers and temporary campers. I stayed in my van and had my cat and dog with me. Campfire wood was easily available and had its own picnic table. Beautiful scenery and we even got a dusting of snow! I stayed two nights while in town for work and it was perfect.

    Serrano

    Serrano National Forest Campground

Beautiful campground. Clean restrooms and showers. Nice spacious scenic sites. Full hook ups. Big Bear Lake near by, lake level appears to be receding. Bears and coyotes in the area, recommended not to let small dogs or cats roam unattended.

    Lake Campground

Acceptable last minute camping, not great, not terrible.

    Pros: Large campsites

              Clean-ish toilets

              Lake within walking distance

    Cons: Right near highway, noisy

Lots of flies during the day

               tent sites are very flat

Last minute trip and decided to check out Lake Campground. There are 8 sites placed on this hilly area, with a vault toilet in the center of the campground. It is located right next to the highway, so it can be pretty noisy during the day as its a popular route for motorcyclists. The campground itself was fairly clean, and all the sites were very large and spaced well away from each other. The sites weren't very flat, so options to set your tent up were very limited. Some sites had some shade, others almost none. There were tons of flies, very active during the daytime, but went away during the evening. The vault toilets were the cleanest I'd seen (For vault toilets) and the staff came through the campgrounds several times a day.

Jackson Lake is a short walk from the campgrounds. It has a nice day use picnic area with coal grills, picnic benches, and four vault toilets (in pretty poor condition). The lake was pretty small and had a stagnant smell to it. Lots of people were fishing, and a few people waded into the waters. I saw people in rafts / kayaks later in the day. The area was covered in fleas so careful with pets.

Rolling M. Ranch Campground — Chino Hills State Park

    Beautifully scenic area

Sprawling lush green hills? Can’t beat Chino Hills State Park.
The campground itself feels very close together and wide open compared to the space of the park. Gets loud at night if there are too many groups camping. No cell service. Super clean bathrooms and showers.

PET OWNERS BEWARE: Our dog munched on a frog at this campsite and started foaming at the mouth. We rinsed her mouth out with water and she turned out fine, but a smaller dog or a swallowed frog and she could have died from toxicity.

Guide to Victorville

Mojave area campgrounds around Victorville accommodate campers year-round with seasonal conditions requiring specific preparation. Summer temperatures frequently exceed 100°F while winter nights often drop below freezing. Most camping options exist at 2,800-4,000 feet elevation where desert vegetation transitions from Joshua trees and creosote bush to pine forests at higher elevations.

What to do

Hiking near hot springs: Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground provides access to natural thermal pools via a moderate trail. "The hike to the springs is pretty rough but also worth it when you get there," notes one camper, while another mentions they "went in January with snowfall, hardly any campers and nature all around! Two nights are perfect."

Fishing opportunities: Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area offers boat rentals for fishing access. According to Ken K., "Access to the Silverwood Lake recreation area is a great benefit. Small market is on site at the recreation area and the beaches are not smooth sand, but are fine to walk on."

Disc golf courses: Mojave Narrows Regional Park maintains frisbee golf facilities for outdoor recreation beyond camping. A regular visitor notes, "There are hiking and bike trails. Lots of birds. Fishing. Wide open spaces."

What campers like

Local wildlife viewing: Mojave Narrows Regional Park offers excellent birdwatching opportunities where the Mojave River surfaces. One camper explains, "As a result, a small forest of Cottonwood trees abounds, which are the only native tree to this area. The lakes are nice, there are mountain views, and some cool hikes to explore in the riverbed area."

Shade coverage: Dogwood Campground provides relief from desert heat with tree cover. Campers appreciate that "sites are well spaced, good tree cover. Very nice patch of land. Quiet." Another notes, "The campsites are within a forest, so they provide a lot of shade. The campgrounds are spacious and restrooms and water are nearby each site."

Mountain views: Table Mountain Campground offers higher elevation camping with panoramic desert vistas. "There are a couple of trails right from the campground too," reports Amy B., who also noted, "Great views from all over the campground. It did start to get windy in the afternoon, and I think that might be true for most days because the campground is up on the very top of that part of the mountain."

What you should know

Train noise levels: Some campgrounds experience frequent rail traffic disturbances. At Mojave Narrows, one camper warns, "I stopped counting after I counted 24 trains lumbering by during our short overnight stay."

Wildlife encounters: Ground squirrels can become problematic at some locations. Beyond what's mentioned in the existing description, campers should be aware that North Shore Campground has experienced wildlife issues: "Sadly the sites are small with no space between the sites. The noise restrictions after 10pm are not enforced so bring ear plugs. Expect a lot of people walking through your site."

Weekend crowds: Several locations experience significant attendance differences between weekdays and weekends. Silverwood Lake campers report, "I've stayed here twice, the first time all the sites were booked the second time it was pretty empty. Both times, neighboring campers were blasting music."

Dogwood offers "gorgeous, large, private campsites" according to Paige K., who also noted, "after riding around the entire campground on our bikes, we realized we had one of the worst sites!!! Lol Just goes to show even the bad sites are great."

Dust considerations: When seeking pet-friendly RV camping near Victorville, prepare for dusty conditions at many locations. At Adelanto RV Park, which accommodates overnight travelers with pets, one guest reports it's a "Good place to recharge and do laundry. Everything looks mostly clean and the pool was nice too. Small dog park with real grass."
