    Waterfront RV Park

    Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

    Hollywood RV Park

    Themed Park!

First of all, staff was amazing. We were originally supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and we’re not able to make it. Staff shifted our reservation instead of us eating the missed night cost. Also super accommodating allowing us to extend a day longer last minute. Park is tight quarters with 200 spots. Two laundry rooms/bathrooms with showers on site, plus a cute little dog park! We stayed for three nights. Every “road” in the park is themed with California or Hollywood themed decorations and murals. We were parked right next to a Mister Roger’s mural across from the laundry/bathrooms. My only complaint in the noise level at times which is not from the park itself. Helicopters would fly over randomly, sometimes at night and it could be annoying when trying to sleep. Otherwise, absolute GEM of a place!

    Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

Rolling M. Ranch Campground — Chino Hills State Park

    Beautifully scenic area

Sprawling lush green hills? Can’t beat Chino Hills State Park.
The campground itself feels very close together and wide open compared to the space of the park. Gets loud at night if there are too many groups camping. No cell service. Super clean bathrooms and showers.

PET OWNERS BEWARE: Our dog munched on a frog at this campsite and started foaming at the mouth. We rinsed her mouth out with water and she turned out fine, but a smaller dog or a swallowed frog and she could have died from toxicity.

    Lake Campground

Acceptable last minute camping, not great, not terrible.

    Pros: Large campsites

              Clean-ish toilets

              Lake within walking distance

    Cons: Right near highway, noisy

Lots of flies during the day

               tent sites are very flat

Last minute trip and decided to check out Lake Campground. There are 8 sites placed on this hilly area, with a vault toilet in the center of the campground. It is located right next to the highway, so it can be pretty noisy during the day as its a popular route for motorcyclists. The campground itself was fairly clean, and all the sites were very large and spaced well away from each other. The sites weren't very flat, so options to set your tent up were very limited. Some sites had some shade, others almost none. There were tons of flies, very active during the daytime, but went away during the evening. The vault toilets were the cleanest I'd seen (For vault toilets) and the staff came through the campgrounds several times a day.

Jackson Lake is a short walk from the campgrounds. It has a nice day use picnic area with coal grills, picnic benches, and four vault toilets (in pretty poor condition). The lake was pretty small and had a stagnant smell to it. Lots of people were fishing, and a few people waded into the waters. I saw people in rafts / kayaks later in the day. The area was covered in fleas so careful with pets.

Guide to Inglewood

Inglewood visitors seeking camp spots can access several options within 30-40 miles. The coastal locations maintain moderate temperatures year-round, typically 60-75°F even in summer months. Urban campgrounds near Inglewood operate at capacity during summer weekends, with advance reservations strongly recommended during peak periods from June through September.

What to do

Beach exploration: 20+ miles of connected coastal paths connect several dog friendly campgrounds near Inglewood. At Dockweiler Beach RV Park, campers appreciate the extensive shoreline activities. "There's also a bike path that goes for miles both north or south - great for an early workout," notes Ignasi M. The pathway extends along multiple beaches, offering opportunities for cycling, jogging, and dog walking.

Tide pool discovery: accessible marine habitats within walking distance of several campsites. Leo Carrillo State Park Campground offers excellent tide pooling opportunities. "The best part about this campground is definitely the beach access- it's about a 10-minute walk from most sites, and you can explore some amazing tide pools and caves once you get there," explains Alfred.

Movie history exploration: film locations and exhibits throughout the area. Malibu Creek State Park contains former movie sets. "The state park is a former movie set and is filled with easily accessible trails for hiking and some for mountain biking. The primary trails were open fire roads with off-shoots to lakes, pools, meadows, and more," says Ryan W.

What campers like

Ocean front parking: direct Pacific views from several campsites. At Malibu Beach RV Park, the elevated position creates remarkable panoramas. "I stayed in the site V2 overlooking the ocean in a 21 foot van. The spot was a little uneven but easily fixed. I loved the views, location, and vibe," reports Michial S. Most oceanfront sites require advance booking 6-9 months ahead for summer dates.

Clean facilities: well-maintained bathrooms and showers at most established campgrounds. Golden Shore RV Resort receives consistent praise for cleanliness. "Stayed at Golden Shore RV resort in Long Beach, CA for several days. The grounds are kept in excellent condition - very clean and secure. The pool, showers, bathrooms are all spotless," comments Rachel P. Many campgrounds require tokens ($1-2) for hot showers.

Weekday tranquility: less crowded conditions Monday through Thursday at most locations. PJ M. notes about Dockweiler: "Super lively/loud beach on weekend, very chill weekdays, right off a very nice coastal 20+? mile walking/biking path." Midweek reservations are typically easier to secure, even during summer months.

What you should know

Airport noise impacts: flight paths affect certain campgrounds near LAX. Multiple reviewers mention the sound levels at Dockweiler. "We loved this spot next to the beach. We got used to the planes, but they are certainly jarring at first," explains Tyler G. Campsites further from the approach paths generally experience less noise disruption.

Urban wildlife encounters: various animals present in campgrounds despite urban location. At Malibu Creek State Park Campground, wildlife remains abundant. "The wildlife is abundant. There is plenty of birdwatching, and coyotes were wandering through the park and campground without fear. If you have a dog with you make sure they don't try join the pack," advises Ryan W. Proper food storage is essential at all campgrounds near Inglewood.

Reservation requirements: advance planning essential for most sites. "Depending on the season, the lot can be packed. It is accommodating for some different size vehicles and has direct beach access and some amenities such as fire pits on the beach," notes Amanda K. about Dockweiler. Most pet-friendly campgrounds near Inglewood require reservations 3-6 months in advance for weekend stays.

Tips for camping with families

Canyon shade opportunities: temperature regulation during warm weather periods. At Malibu Creek, campground design incorporates natural cooling. "The campground is tucked away in a beautiful canyon setting with lots of shade trees, which was really nice for keeping cool. Our site was spacious enough for our two tents and had a good fire pit and picnic table setup," shares Alfred.

Grocery proximity: emergency supplies available near most campgrounds. Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground offers convenient access to necessities. "There are stores and restaurants nearby for those forgotten items or a quick meal. Super Mex has excellent Mexican food and a few storefronts down you'll find sushi," Michael B. explains. Most campgrounds are within 5-15 minutes of grocery stores.

Multi-generational activities: options for different ages within single locations. Jean reports about Malibu Creek: "My husband, teenage son, grown son and his girlfriend, and I stayed here over Halloween. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained... Between hiking and biking, we were busy for the time we were there. As a bonus, there is a Ralph's just up the street."

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: positioning for optimal experience based on campground layout. At Dockweiler Beach RV Park, location within the campground affects experience significantly. "Review of dry campervan section of park only, which seemed considerably more quiet and less chaotic than the big RV area... Best sites are 125-128," advises PJ M. Corner sites typically offer more space at most locations.

Leveling considerations: terrain variations across different campgrounds. Several RV-friendly campgrounds have uneven surfaces. "The spots are groomed and clean when you come in. Great Long Beach location, a nice bike ride along the beach to Naples and the Queen Mary," notes Theo A. about Golden Shore RV Resort. Most campgrounds provide limited leveling blocks if needed.

Military option awareness: restricted access campground provides additional possibility. "This is a military only RV Park. Very clean, cement slab, walking paths well lit and near to many areas to explore. Wetlands on the base and birds galore," explains Geri J. about Seabreeze At Seal Beach. Eligible service members must present valid ID for access to this pet-friendly option.
