Best RV Parks & Resorts near Compton, CA

RV parks near Compton provide access to Southern California attractions while offering urban camping amenities. Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach features concrete and dirt back-in sites with full hookups, though some spaces have uneven surfaces. Orangeland RV Park in Orange accommodates big rigs with spacious sites and 50-amp electrical service. Waterfront RV Park in Huntington Beach offers water and electric hookups in a beachside setting, though spaces are more compact. "RV Park that is kept very clean. Spots are close together unless you end up with a larger spot," noted a camper about Golden Shore.

Most RV parks in the region operate year-round with gated security systems. Dockweiler Beach RV Park provides oceanfront parking but sits directly under LAX flight paths, creating significant noise. Several military-only facilities exist, including Seabreeze at Seal Beach, which requires military ID for entry. Dump stations are available at most parks, though hookup quality varies by location. Many parks charge premium rates reflecting their urban coastal locations. Reservation policies tend to be strict, with limited refund options during peak periods. Sites with sewer connections generally command higher fees than those with partial hookups.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Bonelli Bluffs

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

Thornhill Broome Beach — Point Mugu State Park

    Beach camping on PCH!

Spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Campground has trash, porta-potties, and appeared to have potable spigots but didn't confirm. Verizon service was hit or miss, but with a booster it was usable. Nice fire rings and picnic tables. Only downside was highway noise, but the surf drowned out all but big-rigs. Saw dolphins and seals back to back days! We're so glad we went, and if we pass by again we will be staying for sure!

    Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park

One of the Best County Parks you will find

This is a great park in Southern Orange County. I have tent camped here for years with my kids in the Live Oak campground and never had a bad experience. There are hiking trails everywhere with lots of wildlife to watch. I switched to a travel trailer several years ago and now use Ortega Flats campground. The sites are big and well spaced, with 30 amp electric. The water is off for the time being. The dump station is very close by and easy to access.

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

Guide to Compton

Campgrounds near Compton offer camping options within 30 miles of this urban Los Angeles area hub. Most sites operate in typical Southern California climate conditions with mild temperatures year-round, rarely dropping below 50°F even in winter months. Urban RV parks in the region feature significantly different amenities and environments than traditional wilderness camping, with paved sites rather than dirt or forest settings being standard.

What to do

Beach activities: 1-2 miles away: Several campgrounds provide easy beach access. At Huntington Beach RV Campground, "you can build a bonfire, which is really fun and one of the few spots in Orange County that you can do this." This campground operates seasonally from "October 1 to May 31" as the lot converts to beach parking during summer.

Urban exploration: 8-20 minute drive: Campers use RV parks as bases for exploring Southern California attractions. While staying at Rancho Jurupa RV Park, one visitor noted they "drove over to the Mission Inn (8 min drive) enjoyed lunch. Their is a pedestrian only shopping area with a Saturday farmer's market plus lots of restaurants."

Water recreation: On-site: Many parks feature water recreation facilities. Newport Dunes RV Resort has "a fun beach. Nice market. Worth the stay" plus "an inflatable obstacle course or you can rent paddle boards or watch a movie on the beach."

What campers like

Proximity to attractions: Multiple locations: Campers appreciate strategic locations near major destinations. Anaheim Harbor RV Park is valued for its "Very short drive or 20ish minute walk to Disneyland. Extremely helpful and kind staff. Close to shopping and stores. On-site guard at night for safety."

Clean facilities: Daily maintenance: Parks maintain high cleanliness standards. According to a visitor at Golden Shore RV Resort, "The grounds are kept in excellent condition - very clean and secure. The pool, showers, bathrooms are all spotless."

Family-friendly amenities: All ages: Many parks cater to families with various recreational options. Rancho Jurupa RV Park offers "Splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities" and "Beautiful views all around Sunrise, Sunset and Night sky. Sights of all kinds of birds like hawks and herons."

What you should know

Security considerations: Gated access: Most parks employ security measures to ensure safety. At Malibu Beach RV Park, campers note "the bathrooms have a lock and code needed for entry" and the facilities are "well lit and near to many areas to explore."

Noise factors: Variable by location: Urban proximity means potential noise issues at some locations. A reviewer at Huntington Beach RV Campground mentioned "there is quite a bit of traffic noise from PCH" while another noted the campground "can get pretty rowdy at night, depending on who your neighbors are."

Reservation requirements: Strict policies: Advanced bookings are essential, especially for popular parks. At Anaheim Harbor RV Park, campers should understand "they just want to fill their campground" and "With one story after another and no answers we called and told them we would be staying elsewhere because we needed to know the total!"

Tips for camping with families

Water features: On-site cooling: Many parks provide water recreation for children. One visitor at Orangeland RV Park appreciated the "heated pool as well as a hot tub" and "covered play area" which are ideal for families during hot Southern California days.

Dedicated play areas: Multiple options: Family-friendly parks include designated recreation spaces. Rancho Jurupa Park offers "Water park and mini golf for kids. Showers and laundry convenient. Camping spots all have fire pit and spacious area for RVs and tents."

Proximity to attractions: 10-20 minute drives: Families value parks near entertainment venues. Orangeland RV Park has an "Easy 15 min drive to Disney plus the ART bus picks up straight from the campground" and is "Close enough to some good shopping and restaurants!"

Tips from RVers

Site size considerations: Variable by park: Many parks have tight spacing between units. At Malibu Beach RV Park, "the campsites are all pretty close together" while at Golden Shore RV Resort, some reviewers found their "site was wonderful. Cement, lots of room."

Hookup quality: Full service at most parks: Most locations provide complete utility connections. At Orangeland RV Park, reviewers praise "Good wifi" along with full hookups, while at Rancho Jurupa Park, a camper mentioned "There's a dump station, but a couple spots with dump but they were always booked."

Special restrictions: Military ID required: Some facilities have specific entry requirements. At Seabreeze At Seal Beach, "A well kept secret with one drawback; everyone has to have an ID card to get on the base or be pre approved by base security."
